Worked well when the heating elements worked but they failed too frequently – A basic oven costing $699 that cooked well when it worked but after 3 heating element failures in 6 1/2 years and a wobbly temperature setting knob it was time for it to go. It came with a 2 year warranty, the heating element failing within that time was fixed under warranty, then within a year later it went again and was fixed under warranty.… Read more
Another 3 1/2 years on the same heating element failed yet again and the temperature setting dial had become wobbly. Not a good product overall, heating elements should last at least 5 years and dials at least 10years one would think. Unimpressed! Will not purchase another Blanco, made in Italy product! Perhaps we were unlucky and received a unit made last shift on a Friday.
The worst thing I bought – This is the worst appliance ever. The unit was 2 years old just out of warranty. The glass door just shattered while baking. I never saw this happen on any of other oven at all. It was lucky no one getting hurt. I strongly recommend people avoid this oven or maybe even Blanco. This is how it looks like. http://pasteboard.co/19vSZ8Xf.jpg
Sturdy good looking Oven – I was in the market to buy a popper oven to replace a silly convection oven. Living in an apartment the current wiring was running 10 amp and didn't want to pay for new wiring. So my selection was limited. At first i was sceptical of Blanco brand but after reading a few reviews on other oven models I decided Blanco was the one to choose. This… Read more
model was on sale too!
Installing was very simple, the technician took no more than 15 minutes.
I've been very impressed with how fast it takes to heat up and reach set temperature. Cooks evenly, holds temperature accurately. But I do agree with previous review regarding the grill, it does seem to burn the heck out of everything no matter what temperature its set to. But this hasn't bothered me as i've only used the grill 2 times in 18 months. Overall I've been very happy with this oven with its cooking and how sturdy it is
My only issue is the fan forced element has burnt out within 2 year, which i think is a let down. But thanks to Extended warranty it was no cost to me for replacement
Wish we had have purchased something else – A few months ago we were in the market for a new wall oven as the 80s Westinghouse combo unit finally packed it in. A few years earlier I had renovated part of the kitchen with beautiful state-of-the-art Blanco 90mm built-in gas cooktop and a matching Blanco rangehood. Both look great in the kitchen and haven't given me many problems so when it… Read more
came time to change the oven I of course wanted to stick with the Blanco brand for consistency and because of my experience with them and their good reputation.
Visiting our local Good Guys in Hectorville (where the service is impeccable) we were presented with a number of options including replacing the oven with an Australian-made Westinghouse. Admittedly I was tempted because not only did I want to support Australian-made products, it also looked so much sturdier than the Blanco OE604GG. But I wanted to keep the Blanco theme that I started a few years ago in my kitchen going - plus this one was on sale too so a good price ($1300 or so) - so we went for the Blanco. OK so it is in keeping with the rest of the appliances but it the worst oven I have ever used - and I used to own an old electric 60s upright cooker! After just a few uses when switching it off the fan at the back made a rickety clunking sound as it slowed down to turn off, and the oven always smells like it is burning - though I'm not sure if that is because it is still semi-new..doesn't usually smell like yummy food baking though which is a real shame.
It does cook OK - cooks food evenly and in good time but forget about using the grill function. Our combo unit had a separate grill which was great, and I know that most ovens now incorporate a grill in them, including this one BUT it is terrible and just burns everything to a smithereen. I have tried to make yummy garlic bread or grilled cheese and closely followed the instructions for time and temperature but EVERY time it comes out dry and hard, if not burnt. So disappointing. I am probably going to have to purchase a separate plug-in bench grill.
Other than function which is OK at best, it looks OK too with its stainless steel finish though I have to admit it does look like a cheaper model - very simple and not overly polished. It does have a removable inner glass door which makes it easy for cleaning, but many ovens now have this feature so that's nothing really to rave about.
Overall, it is a functional oven but if I had the choice to cook in this or something else (even my old 80s Westinghouse oven) I would choose something else. The only good thing is the fancy brand name but who really cares. If I had my chance again I would buy the Aussie Westinghouse. In fact I prefer my 80s mission brown Westinghouse over this. Cooks evenly, good price for Blanco brand, removable inner glass door for easy cleaning Rickety cheap build, fan rattles, burns everything when in grill mode, smells like it is burning food rather than cooking it
