Blaupunkt BR-90DABi DAB+ Radio

I have bought two of these for my Mum. The first lasted 18 months and would not charge. The second I bought 17 months ago and now it will not charge. These should last longer than 18 months. Really disappointing Show details

Update. The day after I wrote this glowing review…my radio died.I had it exactly ten days. I wrote to the email given to me via the comment on the morning of the 22nd of Sept,I was asking for help…It is now the night of the 26th of Sept and I have had no reply. It is clearly visible that something has broken inside where the power plugs in to the radio….a manufacturing fault no doubt. I am going to take it back to J.B.HiFi tomorrow to hopefully get some satisfaction because I am lost without it. To say I am disappointed…is an understatement.

Update. Today I took the radio into J.B.HiFi at Capalaba…they inspected it and said it was a manufacturing fault.Without hesitation they offered me a replacement,they were fantastic.I still have not had a reply to my email asking for help from Blaupunkt.

Update. 27/10/22 I have kept the new radio plugged into power all day every day only pulling the connection out of a night to use by the inbuilt battery in the early hours in my bedroom…This must have happened last night because I discovered it this morning(photo attached)I live on my own and have always been super careful with the radio because the connection appeared flimsy too me…I am taking it back again today…If I have to pay to have it repaired… I am not going to….simply because I no longer have any faith in Blaupunkt products.

Update 03/01/2023 When I took it back to J.B.HiFi in October…once again they were extremely helpful…once again agreed with me that the connection point was flimsy… This time they gave me a totally different lead that also only went halfway into the radio.They told me if it fails again to bring it back and once again they would replace the radio….It failed on the 23rd of December (Merry Christmas To Me). I would never recommend Blaupunkt products…hi ho,hi ho back to J.B.HiFi I go,and I do recommend them,the staff have been fantastic with my dilemma’s concerning this radio…If they offer me a different brand this time I will gladly accept it….Stay Tuned

Update 14/01/2023 As I said previously my radio failed again on the 23rd December,I have been waiting for a good leg day to return it to J.B.HiFi because trying to walk to my destination after sitting on a bus with my 70 y.o arthritic knees bent for over an hour is not fun,instead if putting myself through that I decided to ring them and discuss my dilemma and make sure they would stand by their word to replace the radio. NO RECEIPT.….NO REPLACEMENT……but you kept the only paperwork I had with the second replacement…..STILL NO….I can prove it was gifted to me….NO RECEIPT,NO REPLACEMENT. I now have a useless radio with no original lead because JB HiFi kept it the last time I was there….I have a choice to mail it back to the manufacturer at my own expense…(its small but heavy I would have to sell a kidney on the black market to pay the postage)…OR…Let It Go!…As my 98 y.o.mother says “Life Is Short”(obviously not in her case)….I refuse to let this get me down anymore,I am Letting It Go! Do I recommend Blaupunkt digital radio’s?….HELL NO!

Very bad product – When on int. radio, produce some funy noice. Connectivity is a problem all the time. Returned two of them back to JB hifi. Will buy Pure Elan. Bad quality product. Blaupunkt was exelent comp. but not any more. Show details

Will only connect to australian internet radio stations – Cannot get the iradio to work with more than 1 australian station after a struggle getting it to connect to my wifi. i.e. it wont connect to international stations. Its going back. Show details

Update of previous review – After a few weeks, the good wi-fi reception, the inbuilt rechargeable battery and the compact size of this radio remain strong features for me. listened. The changeover to battery power when external power is disconnected is not seamless: the radio switches off and has to be restarted. These seem to be programming errors in the module design. With these shortcomings I feel I should re-rate it to four stars. The stated power requirement is 1.0 amp, but extra is advisable to avoid charger overload on start-up.
