BMW k1300s MY15 Motorcycle – OK, so we just bought the BMW Sporty K1300, Sports/special Edition it came with the special price tag too! Not cheap by any means. So this one is the White with stripey paintwork, the full kit. I don't like naked bikes, so I wont go there, but it's a female perspective, sleek lines, flowing, well made, all about colour right? Wrong, I like speed, comfort, looks and certain brands.

I had never entertained a BMW personally, until now.

Again, if you want technical, get out the brochure. I know nothing of BMW, but they were offering a discounted rate. Standard across any dealership. No room to move on price, it's fixed. Even so the dealer makes the claim its a $30,000 odd priced bike so aren't you lucky? you saved what $3000? no I spent $28,490, er where is the saving? and how lucky am I?

So, here we go its a 2015 model?Well no, its last years made bike with the tagline, but its still classified as a 2015 model. Not in my books!! it was made in 2014....and it will only ever sell as that, don't kid yourselves!

Now the bike.

Looks good, sporty, modern and typical of BMW engineering. The quick deal is;

shaft not chain driven.

good comfy wider seat

heated grips,

tinted windshield.

No need to change up, but you do need to change down, at speed it feels great with the gear changes, but watch out if you aren't up there cruising at certain revs - its very chunky clunky, we made that mistake! But the guy said......well what was left out was you had to be up there before being in that mode, or it would feel like the whole thing is about to brake in pieces.

We did like how you can change modes as you ride for comfort, speed. Two riders, make an adjustment, rough road, smooth riding, or single rider, flick through the on board computer and off you go at a few flicks, and presses of buttons, You can even check tyre pressure while riding. No doubt it has a pile more features and so the book comes in handy, but this is off the cuff.

On board computers are great, changing the function and riding details makes for a better easier ride, for both rider and pillion. Do we want bikes to work more like cars? well yes and no. I like the comforts, but I love the speed, freedom and maneuverability that cars cannot match

As the pillion, I felt comfortable from the beginning, the bike seemed to hug the road, it would I guess with traction control and ABS brakes. The seat felt good, it has the special pegs, adjustable positioning for the rider, and it comes with the special exhaust, it sounds like agrapovic, but isnt spelt that way! To meet street legal they say leave the silencer on....hmmn.

Pillion grips are great in comparison to the triumph we had, the Tiger 1050, although great, not so great on grips. Your feet stay put too on the pegs, which are special on this bike or so they say.

Ok, so is it worth the price tag?.....no, I don't think it needs to be so expensive, come on BMW get your pricing down. Your merchandise too especially if you have bought a new bike, is too bad so sad, pay the price. Dealer says no room to move.

Is it a great bike? yes so far, it surpasses expectations

Have I been on other bikes to compare, well yes Yamaha, and two triumph sports bikes. A Harley softail, but they aren't in this league so no point really going there!

Do I know what I am talking about? as a pillion yes, as a rider, I can't answer it. I can only go off my partners expression when he comes home after a ride." Man I love this bike", he misses his Triumph and we are both sentimental over them, but this is one hell of a bike.

At 1000kms it needs it's first service, and at $450 or so, its not cheap is it, for basically a check and tweak. Can;t imagine anything wrong. a Two year warranty, unlimited, so make the most of it. Why do bikes not carry the same warranty of a car? Why when you pay more for one of this that basically you can get wet on, get killed on, and not be able to the weekly shop on....makes these bikes pretty expensive and more up market

so in short, a great bike, could do with some other accessories, like inbuilt navman and onboard cameras front and back. I think the time has come when bikes need this included, get up to speed!

This bike costs as much as and more than a car or most cars, so you really want the extras, and deserve it. BMW, either go cheaper, you know you can!, stop the price control, or up the ante. A centre stand?

Maybe come up with better financing terms, 8.9%, i have better credit card rates at 7.9%, cheaper to do that short term and pay it off than lock in a loan at a higher rate!! (and its nearly paid off)

This bike, is good for nearly all ages after all we are heading up to 60!
