BMW R1100S

Excelent all rounder...BMW R1100S...Sports Tourer – I have ridden bikes for over 40 years, many brands, styles and sizes, the BMW R1100S is by far the best bike I have owned. It is very versatile and user friendly. My first ride on one was an immediate feeling of comfort and control. I have a bad lower back yet the seating position is still comfortable with the standard clip on bars. I have adjusted the suspension to soft yet it still handles extremely well. The pannier frames are unobtrusive without the panniers attached. It is a very relaxing bike to ride as you can plod around in any gear just above idle and just twist the throttle for excellent acceleration. The top end power is more than enough for my 50yo body and mind. Gear changes are a bit clunky with boots on but with soft footwear changes are smooth. I have just done a valve adjustment, throttle body synch and spark plug replacement and it was very easy to work on. This bike came with a Staintune exhaust system that is of excellent quality to suit the BMW, but I run with the baffles in as it is too noisy without them. The quality of the materials and workmanship is well above standard.

As much as I looked for problems before I bought one the only negative feedback I found was throttle surge at low revs, which is easily fixed. I spoke to owners, looked on forums and rode a few to make sure the bike was good. I am extremely happy with my R1100S, I think it is one of the best looking bikes anywhere yet it is still one of the best bikes to ride for sports, touring and commuting. Easily a 9.5/10.

This is a future collectable/classic. Extremely good looks. Very practical. Torque. Power. Comfort. Touring accessories. Quality. Versatility. Ease of rideability. Sportiness. Easy to service. Fun to ride. I like everthing about this bike.
