The kettle stopped working properly at about 3 years, just keeps boiling. I contacted the company but they don't care to work out what's wrong with it. You shouldn't spend this much money on a kettle and it be faulty so quickly, a $20 cheap Kmart one has a better product life. Show details

Highly dangerous – Lid flies up for no reason and then kettle does not switch itself off. Just goes on boiling. Burnt my hand on steam often trying to shut lid mid steam. This kettle has faulty lid and it just flies up for no reason. It could catch fire as does not stop boiling.  Show details

Does The Job And With No Problems – I am a student and I purchased a Bodum kettle to make tea and coffee quickly and conveniently. The product has done its job and I'm satisfied with the quality of Bodum's kettle. Based on this purchase, I would buy more products from this company. Have fun making teas with the convenience of the Bodum kettle!

Highly Dangerous – I have had this kettle for 6 months now, it was operating fine until this morning when i switched it on, i could smell a very strong burning smell. Once it had clicked itself off, i went to lift the kettle from its base to find it was entirely stuck, i waited for it to cool and prised the two apart to discover that a wire had burnt completely… Read more

through the kettle base melting the plastic and hence sticking the two together. Thank goodness i had spotted this when i did as i fear if the appliance had been switched on again it most probably would have caught fire. Do not buy!!!

Completely unreliable – We have troubles with this kettle very often. It has a tendency to stop boiling when its on and hasn't yet finished boiling. It also sometimes starts boiling when there's nothing in it. Very disappointing. This happens almost every day. That's about all there is to say. I don't recommend buying it.

less than a month use then stopped working – The kettle stopped working after less than a month. It was a gift, it looked like it would be a good product... I went back to my old cheap Kmart kettle which still works.

Looks good but unsafe to user due to risk of scalding hand – Failed after only 3 months - steam came out of handle, handle very hot burning hand of user. Handle appears to be poorly designed allowing hot steam to pass through handle with insufficient seal.

Toxic burning plastic smell – 1st kettle - used for a few days when it began to reek of burning plastic - whole house filled with the stench! Sent it back to retailer who replaced it with 2nd identical kettle - unfortunately, it had the identical problem - this time right from the first few uses - house stinks - water tainted - Not impressed. Would not recommend this product - very disappointing.......

Hohum Bodum – This is a terrible product. It took forever to switch off and would continue boiling for 1 or 2 minutes. If you wanted to reboil you had to wait at least 10 minutes for the thermostat to reset. It died completely after about six months. Even a $10 kettle will switch off promptly when boiled.

After two I gave up – I bought the Bodum because it was made of silicon rather than plastic and was a beautiful green colour. Immediate problems - it took ages to build up enough pressure to switch itself off so the water was overboiled, and then it took at least 5 minutes before it would switch on again. If I made myself a cup of tea and then someone else came into… Read more

the kitchen wanting to boil the kettle ..... well bad luck for them, they had to wait.

The switch broke after about 6 months so I had it replaced under warranty. And then, the switch on the replacement kettle broke after about 6 months. So I got a refund and bought another brand. silicon, great colour badly designed , faulty switch on both kettles

Burning plastic in boiled water – I bought my Bodum electric kettle 1.5 L two weeks ago and I cannot use it because it has a noxious burning plastic smell in the kettle itself and in the water. I have boiled it repeatedly to try to 'clean' out the smell but that has not worked. I am concerned that I am being poisoned by the plastic emanations so I have put it away and I am using… Read more

Bodum Bistro Kettle – I bought my lovely kettle online via KitchenStyle.com.au, it lasted 5 months and the button that opens & closes the lid broke/stopped working and the lid wouldn't close and the handle seems to be coming away. Too!! SO disappointed!! I love the Bodum range. KitchenStyle are replacing my kettle this week, I hope the next one lasts longer! It's stylish, not too loud when boiling The open lid button stopped working and the lid wouldn't close

Doesn't last! – The first one lasted less than a year so thank goodness it was still under warranty. It just working all of a sudden. The one received in exchange lasted only 6 weeks. Then it died all of a sudden. While it was working the lid was at times impossible to close the lid; I had to pich it down 5 or 10 times for it to finally stay closed. The black model looks sleek and good in my kitchen, was also a good price Faulty

Only lasted 4 weeks – Steer clear of this one. Plasticky taste from the beginning and only lasted 4 weeks before dying. Was pretty quiet but the thermostat seemed to take a long time to detect that the water had boiled. No way to stop boiling manually. Nothing positive to say on this aside from the visual design. Nothing

Poor Quality – I am now on to my 2nd Bodum Bistro Purple Electric Cordless Kettle 1.5L The first one I had, needed to be returned after the electricals in the kettle were faulty and wouldnt stop working. I thought it was a once off, and exchanged it for another. (Same brand, same model) This one will not switch off when water is boiled and the lid will not latch… Read more

down to close and will pop open in the middle of boiling water. Its quite expensive, and I do not fancy getting another one. It matched my decor and went with the toaster I bought Faulty equipment

Good but not Great – I bought this kettle with the matching toaster in PURPLE - and both items look very cool. The kettle is abit on the small side (I got the 1litre which is too small for cooking purposes, or if you're making mugs of tea for more than 2-3 people). The flip top lid is easy to use but does leak a little if you're pouring all the water out quickly. The… Read more

swivel base works well. The restriction on reboiling (booklet says up to 15mins between boils) seems a drastic fault and is totally maddening. Is it a safety issue? I've never come across it before and it is maddening for anyone who has ever boiled a kettle, walked away for 5mins and then wants to reboil. Chain tea-drinkers beware. The colour range is great and the cost (esp. when sold together with the matching toaster) was very reasonable. It boils quietly and reasonably quickly. The biggest negative (and it's a biggie) is the thermostat will not allow you to reboil within about 10mins. Perhaps it's a safety feature, but I've never heard of a kettle that won't let you reboil within 10minutes. It's a deal breaker!
