Good oven with inherent design issue – Bought the combination steam oven Series 8 CSG 656RS1A in April 2019. The LCD touch control panel gradually loosing "sensitivity" so much so that it ceased to work 2 weeks ago. Called Bosch service and they arranged for the repair quite promptly. The technician identified the problem instantly. It was not faulty part, in fact, all was needed was a recalibration of the touch control panel (like rebooting your computer). The whole process took less than 5 minutes by going through a series of set up steps on the control panel. It costs me $163.35. I think it is likely the recalibration will be needed every few years. And we, the customers, have to pay for this regular service due to the inherent design fault. The bad news is that I have both the Series 8 combination steam oven and the pyrolytic oven HBG 6767S1A. Imagine if I had to recalibrate both ovens at different times!!! It is going to add to my high cost of living as I am a retiree. If the oven was a car, there would be a nationwide recall and the design fault would be rectified permanently at manufacturer's costs. As for the ovens, they cooked and performed well, and I have no issues with them.
Updated 28 Feb 2024 The LCD touch control panel of the steam oven malfunction AGAIN, less than 1 year of recalibration by the technician. Luckily, there is a video on YouTube channel & also written instruction on how to recalibrate the touch screen. Just google & you will find it. Also, if you googled, you will find this faulty LCD touch panel is very common! How on earth a company like Bosch sell a product with inherent fault to consumers? I managed to follow the YouTube video & recalibrate the touch panel. How long will it last is anybody's guess. Stay away from this oven if you want trouble free operation & low maintenance. Otherwise, it is going to cost you $$$ to recalibrate the touch screen regularly. Not sure if newer models suffer the same problem. I revised my rating to 1 star.

Avoid this brand of ovens – Having had several successful Bosch appliances we invested in a combination steam (wall) oven and it failed from the moment it was connected. Error messages each time there was an attempt to use the steam function, serviceman unable to repair it. So now Bosch keep promising a replacement but that is after they have left us without an oven for 5 weeks. Customer support is very poor.
