very annoyed at the fact we'll have to get it fixed and might have the same problem again! Fridge/freezers from a 'reputable' brand like Bosch should not have such a short usage life.

Dead after only five years – Purchased this fridge/freezer in July 2012 from The Good Guys, based on the quality associated with the Bosch name. It was noisy, which didn't bother me too much. ago, the freezer stopped freezing, then the fridge stopped working. The repairman said we will need to buy a new fridge, of which we can't afford. I am so disappointed Bosch. It seems from these reviews that this was a common fault in the 2012 model. I thought I'd have this fridge for 15 years, not five years. :-(

Breakdown within 5 years – I bought this two door fridge/freezer in November 2012 based on Bosch German quality. However, in less than five years, the top half of the freezer compartment has stopped cooling. The ice has turned into water and all frozen food is destroyed. My older (and cheaper) LG fridge/freezer is still going strong after 8 years. Never expected such poor quality from a top German brand. Hopefully Bosch will repair/replace it soon. From the first month when we had it in January 2013, we were disappointed at this fridge because in those summer hot days it made such a loud noise that everyone in the family were shocked and it sounded as if an aeroplane were to take off beside you! We thought we must have put too many food into it and it was working so hard to cool the temperature down in the fridge so we reduced the amount of stuff in the fridge by half and our aircon was there to help to cool the temperature as well. However, it did not work at all! And we thought it probably was because of the hot weather.

When winter arrived, our fridge still made the same noise as it did in summer and the only difference was the frequency was decreased as the weather became cooler and cooler. We then were told by a friend that not all Bosch products were the same good quality: some of Bosch appliances were very badly designed and my husband googled our fridge model and its noise problem and he found this model was heatedly complained by so many people! We were so shocked but we still hoped it would be at least as reliable as other Bosch probucts, making believe that the extraordinary loud noise could be ignored.

In April 2017, we found the food on the top shelf of the fridge became spoiled very easily and the second drawer (for fruit and vegetable) from the bottom had gathered thick layer of ice at its backside. We thought we should reduce the amount of food stored in the fridge so the cool air could circulate in the fridge more evenly. It did not work at all. We defrost the fridge and it accumulated 2cm ice on the back of the fruit and vegetable drawer in 2 weeks. I left my cooking thermometer in the fridge and found the top shelf at 22 degree celcuis, hotter than our room tempreature setting for our heating now in the winter!

I called the Bosch service number and was told to call our local agent and the local agent said they would charge $150 for coming to my place to check the fridge and other costs were to be decided. I found other people who had the similar problem had spent $1000 on trying to repair it in vain and we would like to warn people who trust Bosch blindly like us, do your investigation throughly before you buy their appliance!

The worst of this fridge is it only lasts for four years! My parent's old fridge never had any problem before 15 years old! However this German brand fridge only has a third of other "unreliable" brands product life, which made us very disappointed!

We will never buy Bosch fridge again.

perceived the brand as superior, I really am regretting my purchase. A fridge should last for at least 10 years with no trouble. Also the digital temperature changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit by itself. I'm starting to think it'll be cheaper to replace the fridge with something more reliable instead of throwing good money after bad with the Bosch.

happened before. After reading the reviews it seems there is a common fault. So have rung Retravision and was given a number to call as it's "out of warranty" so Tuesday will see what happens stay tuned. 1st of Jan and the fridge has now completely stopped. The product was great when worked obviously, 5 years not good enough for a product that was so highly recommended. Can only hope Bosch will stand by their product.

with that. And now after 3 years I have noticed that there is solid ice behind the salad and fruit drawers and the top of the fridge is warm. I was wondering why my butter was soft and milk not very cold. I feel completely let down by Bosch after only 3 years. If Bosch can come up with a cheap/simple solution this close to Christmas then I will keep cheering for Bosch.

at almost 4 years to the day, the freezer compartment stopped working. I had a technician come and look and he showed me the ice build up on the workings pronouncing the problem as a gas leak. He advised that a gas leak is almost impossible to detect and fix due to the construction. Of course as soon as the ice melted the gas completely leaked and neither freezer nor fridge are working now and the food has spoiled.

Fortunately I have an extended product warranty. I will contact them tomorrow as today is Sunday and see what they say.

later and scheduled a visit for Wednesday time still to be confirmed (a text will be sent the night before) After reading similar problems on this forum I can only assume its a gas leak. I advised the service company to ensure the technician they send out is able to check and if necessary refill the gas should it be required. We are expecting house guests to arrive on Thursday and having no fridge and freezer is a major problem that will need to be resolved without any further delays. Although the fridge is out of warrantly I have read the Far Trading Website and the manufacturer is still responsible for repairing or replacing the fridge as this type of appliance should have an average lifespan of 14 years. The fact that it failed after only 4 years with normal use means that under Australian Consumer Law I am entitled to a repair (if possible) at no cost or a replacement or refund.

Door problem, noisy and runs constantly – You cannot access the fruit and vegetable bins at the bottom without opening the door 180 degrees. Our fridge space is against a wall and without re-building the kitchen we can't use the bins. never had this issue with a fridge before. Also the fridge seems to run constantly and is quite noisy. It has become the house 'hum' day and night. I am very sorry we bought such a badly designed fridge.

Disappointed – My fridge is working well however the fridge door shelf broke after 2 months of normal use. When I contacted Bosch they told me the shelf was a 'consumable item' and therefore not covered under warranty. This is not clearly specified in the warranty. They wanted $80 to post out a replacement tray. Very disappointed that Bosch do not stand by their product.

Too many defective units made – We bought one of these for our parents (SS finish). They have had theirs 2.5 years and it has worked perfectly. Over a period of the last 6 months some funny things started happening. Firstly we would be away for the weekend and when we got back the water in our jug had a funny kind of mild chemical/plastic taste. I had no idea what it was and didn't think much of it at the time. About 2 months ago I noticed the ice cream was no longer frozen normally and was staying at soft serve consistency. Everything else in the freezer was solid so I was curious but too busy to care as it was just the ice cream.

A month before Christmas it went into alarm permanently as the temperature was too far out of the acceptable range. One annoying thing is that the digital temperature display for fridge and freezer only displays the target temperature and you cannot get it to simply display the current temperature. It had clearly got worse rapidly so we rang Bosch. Warranty company booked, technician checked it and said probably refrigerant gas leaked but would have to send their gas guy to confirm, gas guy confirmed it and they arranged a new replacement. This arrived just before Christmas so the whole procedure took about 4 weeks which was a fine time having a broken fridge in hot December but at least we had a new replacement.

We turned the replacement on. After an hour could not feel anything. Four hours barely a chill. 11 hours later it was getting closer but still some way off the standard target temperatures for fridge (4C) and freezer (-20C). Turned it off and ran again and still piss weak. Rang Bosch and they sent warranty company out again. He jacked up the temperature settings to fridge (2C) and freezer (-22C) and it runs a lot better. We have had this a few weeks now and I am very uneasy about this. It feels like they are overclocking it to make it run normally. I would rather have my money back on this one as we now only have a few months left on the 2 year warranty I feel like we are stuck with this to get us over the line so Bosch can no longer be responsible.

I was previously under the impression Bosch was a quality company that stood behind their product with great customer service.

Terrible services – side door tray broken after one year carefully usage, called Bosch and after long waiting and transfer calls, I was told have to pay $40 for new one and Bosch won't warrant the broken part. I don't know which part of the fridge Bosch do wattant, but the two years warranty is a big joke! I won't buy any Bosch fridge from this experience!

Noisy from the start, not greatly so but intrusive and seemed to be running a lot.

I can live with that.

Did the job for 2 months then temp alarm went off, lost cooler side climbing to room temp, freezer kept going for a few hours but temp rising to 0 degrees. Apparently it prioritises the freezer.

Of course it happened at start of weekend and service number open 8am to midnight ...weekdays, switches to UK and they can't do much.

Went through all the instructions. Off for 24 hours, then on, no cooling at all by the thermometer even though self test shows nothing at all wrong.

Weekday and Tech thinks it has lost coolant.

In process now but they want to take it away for repairs for an unknown time and not replace.

Who knows what damage to motors running without coolant will do to eventual lifetime even if fixed for now.

No inquiry about spoilage , loaner fridge or anything from bosch.

Luckily have a 60L car freezer keeping things nicely at -18C and 2 bar fridges, but it would have been nice to at least ask. Nope , your problem , of course that is probably home insurance if it was needed..

Not happy at all , and not very optimistic about getting a long a reliable service out of it.

phoning back if the problem remained. I thought this was a little strange to expect a customer to turn off a new fridge for two days and then wait another 24 hours…… a total of 3 days! Unfortunately a whole fridge and freezer full of valuable food was lost. Without question I happily followed the instructions given and turned the unit off for 48 hours. I then turned the unit back on and waited for another 24 hours……it was still warm inside! A technician inspected the unit and informed me that nothing could be done straight way as there was a gas leak, and the compressor and the evaporator had completely failed. I was surprised to say the least at the extend of the problem……I had bought Bosch because I thought the brand stood for quality and reliability!

I have now been without refrigeration for over a week and Brisbane is experiencing and autumn heatwave of 40 degree days! Still waiting for Bosch to respond regarding what they intend to do about the product, however with a major failure such as this I expect a new fridge.

Due to the major failure of this fridge and the length of time Bosch has taken I have had to go out and spend $250 on a bar fridge to survive over another hot weekend.

I have to advise stay away from this Fridge if your considering it!!

Seems ok so far – I wouldn't term this fridge quiet, but I wouldn't say it's noisy either, it just makes different noises regularly, it's definitely quieter than the old 20yo fridge it replaced, but more noticeable because it makes different noises, but appears to work fine regardless. shelves & slots than it does. I love the manual ice cube thingy. It is a big fridge, seems the depth of it is more the issue than the width, had to bring it in through the back door of our house as in the box it didn't fit width ways through the front door and Z shaped hallway. Plenty of space, door/temperature alarms, temperature display.

Great fridge – Don't know why others are saying its noisy, once in a while it will make a different sound for a few seconds but its barely noticeable, the handles are metal and not plastic which is good, you can see what temperature the fridge and freezer are set to, its very cold and has a clean look and feel, overall it is a good fridge and would recommend. Finish, space, layout. Nothing really. Show 2 replies
