Poor at Everything
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)I really wanted to like this dishwasher but after 6 months of having it; the truth is its just not that good - its loud, its slow and most importantly, it doesn’t clean or dry things very well.
After our Ariston died we decided to pay a bit extra and get a "premium" brand dishwasher which was made in Germany. However, this one is noticeably worse than the Ariston in every aspect that matters with dishwashers.
Firstly, no matter how you stack it or how dirty everything is there will always be something with food left on it that you have to wipe off when you unload it. I've even tried rinsing things before I stack it and there is always a bit of food left on something.
Its also horrible at drying things particularly plastics. I know plastics are hard to dry but this one is just way worse than our old dishwasher. Even ceramics, such as mugs, have water left on them even when using the extra dry mode. Pots also have drops of water left inside them. It also leaves water spots on cutlery in the cutlery rack (see picture). I understand efficiency is important but if its not doing the job properly then its not really efficient. It seems like Bosch went too far to minimise water and power use and now it doesn’t wash stuff very well. Use an extra litre of water and wash things properly
Its also louder than our old dishwasher. I’ve seen other reviews say that this model is super quiet but I disagree. We never heard anything from our old model but during the wash cycle on this one this a noticeable rhythmic clunk. I’ve even tried running the dishwasher empty and the clunk is still there which makes me think its one of the spray arms wobbling. The arm just sits on the plastic water inlet and seemingly clicks in to place leaving a bit of wobble. At this price point it would have been nice to see sealed bearings or something more secure to stop the clunking sound. Its really annoying and doesnt justify the "SuperSilence" label on the front .
It also takes about 2.5 hours minimum to run through a normal cycle which seems excessive to me. there is a Quick 45 minute option buts worse than the normal cycles
It does look nice and programming system is pretty user friendly so it gets a star for that.
Otherwise, avoid this model and find something else.

This would be the Porsche of all dishwashers, and you pay for what you get
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)It has been almost 3 years since I’ve gotten this dishwasher, and I am still amazed by how unbelievably quiet it is, so quiet that I have to get close to the unit to find out if it’s operating.
With the amount of cooking that gets done at home, I often get gobsmacked on the amount of large pots this spacious dishwasher holds. Besides the conventional 2-tray dishwashers, the compact additional tray ensures that everything can comfortably make its way and no dishes get left behind.
When you think that this German-made dishwasher cannot get any better, the 4-star energy rating and the 5-star water rating becomes the cherry on top.
Cleaning the filter once a month and putting the dishwasher through the highest temperature clean is all the maintenance that’s required.
Serie 8 Bosch dishwasher is one product that I would highly recommend to anyone requiring a freestanding dishwasher.

A lemon from day one and Bosch take no responsibility.
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)Wash quality poor apart from Super setting.
Internal shelves and baskets broke within 18 months, Bosch not interested in replacing want to charge.
Wheels always falling off.
Final straw was the front panel breaking and falling off.
Contacted Bosch Customer Service who are adamant they do not cover any machine damage post 2 years despite the handle just falling off. Terrible customer service.
Would never buy Bosch again.

Doesn't wash properly
Bosch Serie 8 Freestanding DishwashersAt least half of the plates and glasses come out dirty each wash. Have tried everything that Bosch customer service have suggested. They have offered to send out a technician but will charge $150 if there is no manufacturing fault. I am fairly sure it is not a manufacturing fault as everything seems to be working. The problem seems to be more in the design and I dont want to risk paying another $150 to find that out. Bosch should not charge me to fix it, regardless of the cause, unless I have done something obvious to cause it. I paid for a dishwasher that works and I haven't got one. Thought Bosch would stand by its products better than that.

High expectations......average quality for price
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)Second call out in three years for a brand new unit....heat pump failure at three year mark. Was in process of changing kitchen to full Bosch suite. I would have expectations of better quality as per the marketing brochure...had less issues with fisher and paykel….multiple failures with Circut board, water pump, heat sensor . For the money I paid on this and the so German quality….this will be the last bosch product I will be buying took the service agent…. 6 weeks to repair and is still not working…have now decided to scrap and buy new…and will not be Bosch

Won’t buy Bosch again
Serie 8 SMS8EDI01AThis top of the range Series 8 machine is a replacement for a 3 old Bosch Series 8 dishwasher model SMS88T101A which I loved to bits
This new machine is very flimsy, with racks much much lighter than in previous model. the cutlery/ small object tray at top is poorly designed and drops too low so that taller glasses on next shelf don’t fit. It annoyingly does not alert you that the machine has finished washing on the display. No finished or end on screen. So if a family member looks at in the morning, they wouldn’t know if the contents were was

Fine.. while it worked. Lemon! Bosch service- Terrible.
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)Bought the dishwasher new from Appliances Online in November 2021.
Hassle free until two weeks ago, when the unit started throwing error codes suggesting the drain pipe was bent (it wasn’t) and the drain was blocked (it wasn’t).
Finally, the dishwasher threw an E31:01 code meaning that the water protection system had been activated and to contact Bosch. It was a giant brick.
Bosch customer service is awful. The disinterested service rep booked us a service appointment well over a week after our unit had shut down completely. My wife had to w

Disappointing product, so close to being great but has a *major* design flaw
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)We cross-shopped Series 7 and 8 Bosch machines (both manufactured in Germany) along with the entry level Miele lines, but opted for the Bosch series 8 for the three level basket design, low power consumption and being very quiet. In hindsight we should have purchased one of the other options as the series 8 has been a disappointment and I can not recommend.
One *major* issue, it will not take standard Australian dinner plates without fowling the washing arm on the underside of the middle basket even with this set to it's highest level. This is
... Read more a massive oversight and design flaw. I thought "this can't be right", but after reading others reviews it seems to be the case; and my workplace has also just installed two of these machines with the same issue. I have tried two "standard" dinner plate designs and sizes, they do not fit. I have managed to remove the two grey spacers on the middle basket which allows the middle basket to be raised higher (to the same as the series 7, which I believe have the same lower and middle basket without these spacers, and without the third upper basket). While this gives ample clearance to the lower basket for dinner plates, the upper basket can no longer be used and needs to be removed; essentially becoming a series 7 layout (which is a disappointment). This could have been avoided, there is only minor fowling on the back left between the lower and middle baskets (3mm), and there could easily be an adjustment made to the middle basket to stop this fowling, but this should have been considered at the factory not someone like me and other consumers realising it. Alternately the top basket could be more streamlined as an alternate modification (made to be less tall). The inclusion of the grey spacers looks like an absolute afterthought and a hack from Bosch. I have not contacted Bosch about this, if they do read this review I hope they are aware of this issue and can issue a recall to make amends and I'd be very happy for them to do this. It otherwise has the potential to be a great machine (there is some very clever ways of folding down parts of the baskets for flexibility, and the machine is whisper quiet with an array of washing options).Purchased in at Appliances Online for $1,605.
Overpriced useless product
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)This is an absolute garbage product. We’ve never experienced a terrible product like this. Product support is even worst. We’ve been trying to use this product for last 12+ months and have been using all the recommended dishwasher tablets and so forth, but no matter what product we use, dishes and plastic containers aren’t getting rinsed properly and leaving soap odour and taste on them.
We’ve changed dishwasher tablet products, added dishwasher salt(our water supply is just fine but just to rule that out), checked water supply pressure and ev

Serie 8 SMS88TI04AThis dishwasher is a piece of junk. Yes it’s quiet, yes it cleans well - when it works. We’ve had nothing but trouble with this German made supposedly wonderful machine. Won’t waste money on Bosch again.

Expensive junk
Serie 8 SMS88TI04AHave had one failed motherboard repaired after a long wait. Now a year later the dishwasher fails to power on at all. I am not willing to risk an exorbitant call-out fee plus parts to keep this expensive piece of junk working. I only narrowly avoided the 'own fault' on the motherboard issue - the repairman had to send a photo to Bosch before approving a warranty claim. I will buy a new Samsung dishwasher before putting my good money after bad. Seriously Bosch a $1450+ dishwasher that lasts less than three years!!! Last Bosch item ever.
Googled
... Read more and found a work-around on a UK site. Dishwasher needed to be unplugged and disconnected for more than the time stated in the owners manual in order to reset itself (an hour vs 5 minutes)....or I got lucky. It works now, but my faith in it to continue to do it's job is just about destroyed. 'Temperamental electronic wizardry' is being polite.Purchased in at The Good Guys for $1,450.

Bosch Serie 8 Freestanding DishwashersFor a "premium" appliance I am perplexed how they can use such cheap stainless steel that is impossible to clean and shows every mark. From the day I got it I was constantly getting error messages with the latest being a bad one to do with the heating element. The constant water issue error message meant I had to take the dishwasher out and check the hose (absolutely nothing wrong with it) and it then goes. This is not easy to do on your own and damages your cabinets every time. I paid a lot of money and less than 4 years old and I am tricked i

I am told I have to spend a ridiculous amount on salt, despite there being nothing in the user manual about it, and this is supposedly what causes all my issues. I was also told it would be covered under warranty when they came out but nearly a week later I am sent a text message to say I need to pay a call out fee. Yet online suggests we do not need to add salt in Australia, it is for other countries (which would make sense as to why it is not in the manual). For such an expensive unit I expect much more. I have had a cheap $400 one installed in a rental and I was there for over 6 years with no issues. My first Bosch appliance and definitely my last. Do not bother. If your going to spend that money get a Miele. EDIT. Bosh were very good and paid for the repair of my dishwasher free of charge. This is despite it being out of warranty which I think is amazing. They also advised me that the machine does not use salt. Hopefully it does not have any more issues, especially since it is not heavily used. UPDATE: Of course it continued to have issues. I have spent so much money fixing it. Sold my house now and made sure not to waste another cent on a Bosch again.Purchased for $2,000.

Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)We have had this dishwasher for 4 years now and have been very impressed. It’s a good looking dishwasher and is easy to clean. Having young children I didnt want any buttons that they could push to constantly turn on, so that’s a plus that they are all on the inside. Love the vario speed function to cut the wash time down. Dishes are sometimes a bit wet, but does any dishwasher completely dry every dish?
Reading on here people got the cutlery tray AND a basket.. I didn’t get a basket and am a little devastated haha. But the tray is good ans holds a lot!
Overall really happy with this dishwasher!

Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)Bosch got this one right! All the buttons are located on the top on the machine so that when you close it NO buttons are exposed and there for children can play with them and change / turn off the machine. It makes the dishwasher look very easy on the eye and easy to wipe down.
Love the Vario setting. This makes the long cycles a bit shorter.
Love that there is a top rack for cutlery and a basket. So you have the two options.
Highly recommend.

A Lot of People Complain about Mother Board Issue
Serie 8 SMS88TI01A (Silver Inox)A lot of people have complained about a mother board issue, and same here. The dishwasher is less than 2 years old, has a control board issue, can not set the time, stops by itself in the middle of the washing program, and touch panel has become unresponsive. Called for warranty claim, found one cockroach and blamed the cockroach for being the cause of the malfunctioning dishwasher, refuse to honour the warranty.
Purchased for $1,319.
Questions & Answers
Question to owners of Bosch Serie 8 dishwashers who use the Eco or Quick 45 min programs. What dishwasher tablets do you use, and are you happy with their performance? Thank you.
(I use Fairy Platinum and am very happy with its cleaning performance, but a Bosch technician I met advised me to stop using Fairy Platinum as he says it creates too much foam for the Bosch dishwashers, and to use the cheapest Finish tablets I can find from the Reject Shop!)
