Bosch Serie 8 Freestanding Dishwashers

How can I activate the water hardness setting - I’ve held down the setup for 3 seconds and moved through all the options but the H:00-07 is not there. Australia does have hard water in areas and I want to turn this on to reduce lime scale buildup on my dishes - why has Bosch disabled this and can it be reactivated? Show details

It fit snuggly to the space available and easily installed by the installer. It been nearly one month of used, a few good things from this dishwasher, it is very quiet, the loudest noise recorded using my Apple device was 58, but most of the time 48-52 dB. 3 levels of draw is good for our family. Our plates are not that large so they all fit nicely on the bottom rack, in the event of larger plates we would manually remove the middle rack. The very top rack we stacked kid lunches box, mid tiers mainly for bowls and frying pans. We found the Quick 1 hr cycle suited us perfectly, the time is not 1 hr however, most of the time from this cycle is the drying. The bottom rack dishes will be dried but another two racks above still not full dried. I am not sure if this is a safety feature introduce recently, our last dishwasher would be totally dried as the dishes get very hot and require gloves or hand towels to handle. I do noticed that the last five minutes prior to ending the cycle the machine would automatically open but the displayed still on.

The machine clean well for our Vietnamese food, improvement would be better drying for mid and top racks. The time function for setting timer could be improve eg separate for Hr and Min. The bottom filter could improve by separating the metal grate from the filter cartridge type. Apart from that we love it so far, just hope it last.

go for the 8. The first impressions when I received the dishwasher were not great. The right side of door did not align up with the lip of the dishwasher top's right corner, so the door looks like it's narrower on that side of the dishwasher. Where's the renowned German precision? On opening the door for the first time, it felt very flimsy. My previous Bosch's door's hinges were spring loaded, thus making the opening and closing of the door feel more substantial and premium in feel. The catch mechanism that keeps the door closed also feels cheap and not as durable as my previous Bosch. Bosch Germany cost cutting me thinks? The previous reviewer was correct in saying that larger circular dinner plates do not fit without adjusting the middle rack. However, mine just fit and only just, by a few millimetres from the rotating spray arm! To fit taller drinking glasses, adjustment of the racks is once again required. The very top cutlery/ utensil drawer is next to useless in my opinion as it's way too shallow to fit anything. Bosch claims this top model is quieter than previous models. I beg to differ. It's no quieter than my 13 year old Bosch, which was not noisy at all, but still not better, as they claim it to be. Another annoying fact, is that standing in front of the dishwasher with any part your body touching the dishwasher causes the screen to turn on. The rack mechanisms that pull out and push back in to place feel flimsy.The racks don't glide in and out as smoothly or feel as solid as my previous Bosch. Positives? Yes. It washes dishes etc just as well as my previous dishwasher so that's a good thing. The only area where this dishwasher is an improvement on my previous one, is the drying of the dishes. This is because the machine automatically opens the door to a certain angled position to let the steam/condensation escape, thus assisting in the drying. A nice touch. There is also a wireless home connect function which is handy for tech savy people that love to have everything automated in their home. This doesn't really interest me and was not one of the features that I purchased this model for. Do I regret buying this dishwasher? Yes is the answer. I wish I purchased the also German made, Series 6 model and saved myself hundred's of dollars. The extra cost of this top model is not worth it in my opinion. I'm not confident that this Bosch will last as long as my my previous dishwasher. In conclusion save your money and purchase the Series 6 if you want a German made Bosch or go with another brand.

Good, until you have untrained guests – I had a couple of guests stay for a couple of days. They overloaded the machine so the spray arms could not swing. Fault code E19 came up. control board over $400. I saw a $700-900 bill coming. I ordered 1 x STN9620 power transistor and 3 x STN83003 transistors ($20) to replace the switch mode side of the power supply. You would think an expensive late model machine would cater for the untrained visitor. Not Bosch. Wish me luck.

Excellent dishwasher! Great if you have children – Bosch got this one right! All the buttons are located on the top on the machine so that when you close it NO buttons are exposed and there for children can play with them and change / turn off the machine. Love that there is a top rack for cutlery and a basket. So you have the two options. Highly recommend.

Good performance, but lacks some features – new this week, and is noticeably quieter than our previous DW. We do not rinse the dishes, and all have come out clean, as do wine glasses and baking dishes. the upper cutlery tray is good and the baskets easy to adjust, however, given the price and the brand, it is disappointing that you have to order small items holders, which would be useful… Read more ·  1

for various items. As a high cost brand and model, there shouldn’t be any extra cost options, which I note are standard in less costly brands, with good reviews. The manual is full of “depending on the features of your dishwasher”.. This is not a basic model or low end cost. Bosch you could have done better.

I bought a Bosch due to previously having one & it was great. This one is very poor... 1) It's nowhere near as quiet as the previous one I had. 2) The vertical space for each of the baskets is poor. can't stand in the upper basket. The basket won't close due to the glass impacting the cutlery drawer / tray at the top. 4) The wash is VERY poor. Even after the 3hr "Auto-Intensive" wash cycle there is still loose food bits on the cutlery & some plates. Bits that are easily wiped off with the tea-towel or with your finger, so certainly not difficult to remove. Any shorter wash cycle leaves a lot of loose food on plates & cutlery. The unit is kept clean & the internal filters cleaned very regularly, but still the issue of food bits.

Overall very disapointed with what is an expensive dishwasher when compared to others. Bosch dishwashers used to be good.....

issue appearing now advising of a water leak a couple of months later. Will never go near another disposable Bosch and would not recommend to anyone.

A lemon from day one and Bosch take no responsibility – Wash quality poor apart from Super setting. Internal shelves and baskets broke within 18 months, Bosch not interested in replacing want to charge. Wheels always falling off. Final straw was the front panel breaking and falling off. Contacted Bosch Customer Service who are adamant they do not cover any machine damage post 2 years despite the handle just falling off. Terrible customer service. Doesn't wash properly – At least half of the plates and glasses come out dirty each wash. Have tried everything that Bosch customer service have suggested. the design and I dont want to risk paying another $150 to find that out. Bosch should not charge me to fix it, regardless of the cause, unless I have done something obvious to cause it. I paid for a dishwasher that works and I haven't got one. Thought Bosch would stand by its products better than that.

Disappointing product, so close to being great but has a *major* design flaw – We cross-shopped Series 7 and 8 Bosch machines (both manufactured in Germany) along with the entry level Miele lines, but opted for the Bosch series 8 for the three level basket design, low power consumption and being very quiet. One *major* issue, it will not take standard Australian dinner plates without fowling the washing arm on the underside of the middle basket even with this set to it's highest level. This is a massive oversight and design flaw. I thought "this can't be right", but after reading others reviews it seems to be the case; and my workplace has also just installed two of these machines with the same issue. I have tried two "standard" dinner plate designs and sizes, they do not fit.

I have managed to remove the two grey spacers on the middle basket which allows the middle basket to be raised higher (to the same as the series 7, which I believe have the same lower and middle basket without these spacers, and without the third upper basket). While this gives ample clearance to the lower basket for dinner plates, the upper basket can no longer be used and needs to be removed; essentially becoming a series 7 layout (which is a disappointment).

This could have been avoided, there is only minor fowling on the back left between the lower and middle baskets (3mm), and there could easily be an adjustment made to the middle basket to stop this fowling, but this should have been considered at the factory not someone like me and other consumers realising it. Alternately the top basket could be more streamlined as an alternate modification (made to be less tall). The inclusion of the grey spacers looks like an absolute afterthought and a hack from Bosch.

I have not contacted Bosch about this, if they do read this review I hope they are aware of this issue and can issue a recall to make amends and I'd be very happy for them to do this. It otherwise has the potential to be a great machine (there is some very clever ways of folding down parts of the baskets for flexibility, and the machine is whisper quiet with an array of washing options).

So I think Bosch should either: - Make it quite clear that you cannot wash standard sized dinner plates while in 3 basket configuration and provide instructions of how to convert to a two-basket layout - Come up with a fix and issue a recall to make sure that this issue is resolved

Regardless of the above; withdraw this product from sale until it is fit-for-purpose

Hopefully Bosch can show some goodwill to faithful customers and make amends for this very expensive, but very flawed product.

Cheap – For a "premium" appliance I am perplexed how they can use such cheap stainless steel that is impossible to clean and shows every mark. the hose (absolutely nothing wrong with it) and it then goes. This is not easy to do on your own and damages your cabinets every time. I paid a lot of money and less than 4 years old and I am tricked into paying $132 call out fee (I was not told this until after someone had been out). And they will not give me a quote until I pay this call out fee. But it gets better. I am told I have to spend a ridiculous amount on salt, despite there being nothing in the user manual about it, and this is supposedly what causes all my issues. I was also told it would be covered under warranty when they came out but nearly a week later I am sent a text message to say I need to pay a call out fee. Yet online suggests we do not need to add salt in Australia, it is for other countries (which would make sense as to why it is not in the manual). For such an expensive unit I expect much more. I have had a cheap $400 one installed in a rental and I was there for over 6 years with no issues. My first Bosch appliance and definitely my last. Do not bother. If your going to spend that money get a Miele. EDIT. Bosh were very good and paid for the repair of my dishwasher free of charge. This is despite it being out of warranty which I think is amazing. They also advised me that the machine does not use salt. Hopefully it does not have any more issues, especially since it is not heavily used. UPDATE: Of course it continued to have issues. I have spent so much money fixing it. Sold my house now and made sure not to waste another cent on a Bosch again.

Second E19 fault on less than 2 years – I like all the different wash settings, and the cutlery tray is very handy and space saving. doesn’t drain properly. This was fixed under warranty. A year later I have experienced the same fault again! I trusted the Bosch name after owning a previous Bosch dishwasher and was not expecting it to fault in the same way twice! Even the cheap brand dishwasher made in Turkey that I owned before this one (at 30% of the cost) is still going strong, and has not had any faults. I will not be purchasing Bosch again - although this model is German made, it’s not to be trusted.

satisfied overall a Little overpriced – overall the performance is good. Cleans well, tested with full load lots of pot and pans and glasses. It came out well. Faults after 2.5years, out of warranty – 2.5years old, German made dishwasher was working really well, until it fried the mother board. I’m surprised that a machine costing $1800 has stopped working in such a short period of time. $300 for the replacement board and $165 for labour for a 2.5year old machine. Paint has also started to peel around the places where the metal and plastic meet. I won’t be buying Bosch again. Not recommended.  Show details

thoroughly and dried all the utensils including plastics. Bosch I leave overnight and the utensils are not dry and not throughly cleansed. The slight smell from the water staying in is also a problem. The quick cycle never properly cleans. I can put it on other cycles that are from close to 2 hours and up and still cleaning is not great. I think there is something wrong in the interior design that is causing this. I am not sure what exactly. Sucks a lot of energy and uses a lot of water and still results are below average. The touch bar at the top is so poorly designed, it recognises not when you tap it rather when you take away your finger. Also it takes several taps at times to recognise the touch.

Now that I think about it which is the most soily cuisine, German or South Korean? S.Korean of course. No wonder the LG dishwasher was better, I take it that it is designed to be powerful to clean oily, saucy, greasy soiled plates and utensils. I have only used LG prior to this hence referring LG, I have not had a chance on any other S. Korean brands.

Amazing and quiet – Almost two years on and still working fantastically . Cleans so well and amazingly quiet. I use the Aldi brand and all items come out clean. I scrape the dishes a little bitso not too clean when they go in. Lots of options and easy to use control panel. Easy to clean inside too. How Disappointing – After only 2 days of ownership and four wash cycles I am experiencing a E24 error. On calling customer service I was advised if its a blockage it will not be covered under the warranty. What a Joke Bosch just not good enough. Considering this is my 3rd Bosch dishwasher and the other two were just middle of the range and very reliable.
