Epilating has given me good results, it leaves my skin really smooth. It can be time consuming but I like being thorough and getting every stray hair. It's never broken down or anything but I have taken really good care of it.

I'm really excited to see that Braun now have waterproof epilators and I'd be interested to see how they fair, I imagine the heat and water would help a lot with the pain.

Epilating isn't for the faint hearted - it hurts! But you'll get used to it. It does hurt more than waxing. I recommend epilating very short hair. The longer it is, the more it'll hurt! Works well, durable, the light on the front is REALLY handy

Painless – I tried similar products years ago & found them painful & not very effective. legs, bikini, arms and stomach/snail trail area and had no problems. It's easy, effective, and mess-free. Cleaning and storing it away again is really simple. Actually becomes kind of fun to use. Easy to use, efficient hair removal, great results. Expensive upon initial purchase, but that said, it's saved me a lot more money in the long term.

Does the job well enough – Just bought the 5280 it after reading reviews here and at a promotional price. Wanted to replace waxing after many years which will save money and keep a few layers of skin :) It is a bit painful on areas of longer leg hair and many hairs such as the thigh, however a quick going over thins it out enough to make the final pluck easier. and the light) that might be a little unrealistic - you probably wouldn't get long out of each charge anyway. If you can cope with the noise (someone commented to me that it sounds like a chainsaw! - whilst I wouldn't go that far, it is quite loud) then you have yourself a very good product. Pulls out really short hairs - even just 24 hours after shaving (amazing!). The massaging rollers are really effective in reducing the discomfort. The built-in light is really handy - it means you can epilate any time of day or night without another light source. Compact size fits nicely in the hand, easy to manoevre. Attractive design. It comes with a little cleaning brush. Very loud. I can't believe no one else has commented on the amount of noise this thing generates. You eventually learn to block it out but it sure does sound scary if you are a first-timer - watching those quickly rotating tweezers spin around, and listening to the loud buzz it makes - it's a little intimidating initially to actually put that thing against your skin! Also, if your skin is a little dry or tender you may get a bit of irritation as the tweezers nip past any delicate areas. You may find a little more pain in the sensitive areas (thighs, back of knees etc.) but if you are used to waxing this shouldn't bother you much. I actually did a test run with tweezers (before buying an epilator for the first time) to see if I could cope with the pain - tweezing actually hurts more and is much much slower. It is a little messy, but any epilator would probably be messy, as it pulls out the hair they come flying thru the rollers and collect either in under the roller cover or flick out (onto you or the floor) - definitely needs cleaning after each and every use.

Good – Pulls out short hairs and so legs remain hair free for a while which is great as you don't have to worry about shaving etc. Removes even short hairs and the result lasts. well I didnt really mind :) The hair does 'clog' up a bit so you need to diligently clean the heads & underneath cleaned out. After allot of use the motor didnt seem to be as 'strong' as it was originally - I have fine hair so dont know if that was just my epilator or a 'con'

Good – I received this as a gift. I don't have much hair on my legs, only some fine hairs. Epilating them caused ingrown hair on some areas, so I don't use this on my legs anymore. with towel helps to ease the pain. Plus the pain lessens with each epilating session. Removes underarm hair easily once you get used to it. Painful for first timer, loud buzzing noise, cleaning the head can be tricky, heavy, sliced some hair instead of plucking them, the effect doesn't last more than a week.

the beauticians, nor did I want to have to shave my legs whilst I was away, I remembered my trustworthy Braun Epilator, and purchased one finally. This is just the best gadget ever, initially it does hurt but after a while the pain numbs out. The results are as good as waxing, nice and smooth legs, with no cuts from shaving. I can go easily six weeks in-between shaves, but I must admit I am not a hairy person. my sister took this again whilst I was away overseas she loves it too, thankfully she returned it this time! almost doesn't fit inside the bag when packing it away. Can tend to scratch delicate skin areas that are not perfectly flat, ie underarms or bikini line.

environmentally friendly - no continual wastage of wax strips or razor blades. I love it! It is quick and easy to use, no need to waste money on endless shaving or waxing products. Love the facial attachment to remove fine facial hairs, no more red upper lip from waxing! The smartlight is useful very lighting up hairs you have missed. Removes very short hairs, so no more bristly legs. A much better alternative to shaving and waxing. Can be a bit painful initially and some areas more sensitive than others, but no worse than waxing. Epilated areas may still be red the next day.
