Breville Thermal Pro Stainless BEF500 / BEF560 Questions & Answers
VerifiedI just got one from the tip shop. Really clean and seems to be functioning well. I have read that elements are just around the edge. Is this right? If not, what is the pattern of the element, so I can see where to put certain foods? Does it really go in the dishwasher? Thanks for your help.
The heating element is through S shape channels that form 4 rows along the bottom of the pan. They are illustrated on the Breville product page for the slightly revised BEF560. From usage the heat distribution is fairly even when a recommended process of slowly increasing the temperature settings from absolute minimum are followed. external link
The manual can be found online with cleaning instructions. It lists the pan and lid as dishwasher safe, however I would recommend hand wash only where possible. Dishwasher environments from the combination of very high temperature, steam and more aggressive detergents are quite harsh on any plastics or seals Eg. The feet of the pan. Regularly cleaning with a dishwasher will cause plastics/seals to fail earlier as a result and as they are on the outside they do not need regular intensive dishwasher cleaning in any case. I will generally immediately after cooking fill the pan, when it is still warm, with a layer of cold water and let it sit for 30 mins or more and soak. This is usually enough to be able to then scrub off ~95% of the residue with just plain cold water and a plastic bristled dishwashing scrubbing brush. I will then finish cleaning it with the rest of handwashed items by simply dunking one end of the pan into a sink with the normal amount of dishwashing liquid and wiping off the remaining residue and give the handles and rim a wipe with a normal non-scratch scour sponge pad. There is very little to no force required to scrub the residue off this way if given a pre-soak like this.
Thank you very much for the very comprehensive reply. Much appreciated. I am amazed that I could find one in such great condition and the link you sent me is perfect. I must have been looking at older specs because they did not have that illustration. Perfect! It was $10 very well spent! You obviously love yours...thanks again. P.

Can you buy non -slip feet for a breville-bef560
Doubt, but you can buy cheap non slip mats and cut to size or rubber feet to glue or self stick make sure free from oil, or put a layer of silastic over current feet, when not tacky let stand on gladwrap to let pan obtain correct balance, let dry as per instructions.
Is there another power cord that is compatible with the BEF 500. I need a replacement cord and there are none available.
We purchased this product mainly to cook pancakes. The manual suggests Saute. Two batches of mixture have stuck to the pan. We spent $170 and cannot do what we purchased it for. Any advice would be appreciated.

what setting do i use to roast a small leg of lamb weighing 1.4 kilos
It would entirely depend on what type of result you were looking for. It would probably be best to saute the strips of lamb as the Thermal Pro does not have a roast function.
what setting do i use for roasting a small leg of lamb weighing 1.4 kilos?
Read this article: external link
Lower setting on Breville would be somewhere between warm and simmer.
All the best!
