I don't understand when people complain that it is not hot enough – First of all, to set the record straight, I do not work for Breville, just a very happy end user. I bought this last year during Kambo's Christmas sale ($90) and have been using it serveral times, each time we have been achieving perfect result on steak, chicken, and kababs. Key is you have to follow the instruction which is set the desire… Read more ·  3

temperature for at least 10 minutes before grill anything, for reference an inch thick. steak will take around 6 mins and kababs will be around 10, which is not too bad. The best part is cleaning: as every part can be disassembled and placed inside dishwasher (except the power cord and the plastic base frame)! Which is a joy for after party cleaning!

It has been serving meals with 8 to 10 people and everyone is really impress with the result.

Capacity: it can simultaneously handle 8 kababs, plus 2 to 3 steaks at the same time. Which I think for the size it is fabulous!

Honestly you can't compare the heat it generates with gas powered BBQ because those grills are made of cast iron and for this Breville is non-stick coating (which means it won't be as hot as cast iron for obvious health reason). So for whoever complain it is not hot enough and give it a low star rating simply do not understand what they're getting in the first place.

If you like BBQ a lot and enjoy super hot steak then I think it's best to get a gas powered BBQ set, if you're like me who enjoy occasional BBQ and do not like all the cleaning and scrubbing afterwards then getting this set is a no brainer.

Enjoy!

confirm that is inferior product.I tried to cook 4 chicken drumsticks on the grill last week, set the control to 'sear' (the highest setting) and let it warm up for 10 minutes. Then i placed drumsticks on grill side with lid down (the lid touches the drumsticks!). 45 minutes later on 'sear' and the drumsticks were still raw in the middle. Do not buy this product Looks good Really not hot enough to cook anything
