Brevile Vacuum Sealer – I got one of these for Christmas!!!!! Wife got it on the strength of my mate's endorsement. He said it's a bit fiddly at first but comes good once you get the hang of it. He was right!!! A very good kitchen appliance, doing all my fish with it, and any cuts of meat that are really too big for one meal, saving money and reducing my waistline, coz let's face it, we eat too much and are toooo big, 10/10

Totally unsatisfactory – My first machine was faulty, as was the second. Wouldn't seal, wouldn't work. Will never have another of this brand.

Great product but Breville no longer produce the rolls – This vacuum sealer is awesome. It has saved me so much money by extending the life of my meat and fish in the refrigerator. It is very compact to fit in a small kitchen. It works very well. I am not sure why others are complaining about no suction. This product seals very well and sucks all the air out. I often threw out lots of expensive meat… Read more

and fish because my plans changed between when I shopped on the weekend for the week ahead and when it came to come each night. Now, I buy fresh meat, chicken, fish and vacuum seal it straight away. Then as I need to cook I can but if plans change I know the meat is not going to "go off" and I just adjust my purchases the following weekend to account for the supply of meat I have left off from the week before. Even salmon keeps 2 weeks no problems! It is rare that I through out meat now and I save lots of money!

Once you get used to the nuisances of the machine it is fine. I use rolls of films, I find it works best sealing the bottom by having the edge of the plastic just before or on the first black foam strip, this seals rather than trying to vacuum as well. Then when sealing the top with the food in it, the edge needs to be between the two black foam strips, this allows the vacuum to work and when the air is sucked out it starts the sealing. It took me a little while to get used to this but it is fine. Sometimes when sealing the 2nd or more bags the sealer will not activate, maybe it is a heat protection device cutting in, but I just turn the power off and then back on and the problem is solved.

I use a lot of silvered almonds which are expensive and can be hard to find in bulk in the supermarket. So I recently purchased 5kg at a bulk price and sealed them into 270g lots. Yes, it took a while, but I saved about $70!!! Fantastic!

Please note that Breville no longer makes the rolls and sell them on their website. They do still produce rolls for another Breville model but those rolls do not fit this machine. So either consider the other model which has the rolls still available or look online where some retailers still have stock. I did note some refers to Aldi having the rolls, I haven't check this out but will when my current supply runs out.

Does what ist says - never had a problem with it – Borrowed a Vacuum sealer from my mum in law 3 years ago to prepare food for an extended camping trip. Really worked well so decided to buy one myself. Got a Breville BVP700. Use it to prepare food for camping trips. Works perfectly even with generic rolls from ALDI. It is so quick we even use to package fruits and all our bulk meat for freezing.… Read more

Not sure what all the bad reviews are on about. I have no connection with Breville and this is one of the dozen reviews I've written in my life.

Absolute rubbish – Ibought mine (BVP.500) some time ago tried it once and put it on a shelf and forgot about it. After hearing how useful a sealer was, I tried it again. That pin hole sealing trick is absolute rubbish. It didnt work - previously I blamed myself, after reading the reviews, I feel justified in binning it. I have a B.juicer its fine but not this machine from hell.

Very bad! NO SUCTION power, let alone EXTREME suction power – This is the second worst Breville Vacuum sealer after BVP750 (I wrote a review on this). Definitely a waste of money. It takes a good 5 minutes to vacuum sealed a whole bag and it doesn't seal properly, finally it stopped working on the fourth week since I bought this to replace the BVP750 that I got. It is not user friendly and it such a time… Read more

waster to wait until this product is properly sealed. At one stage, it didn't even suck all the air out of the bag.

What's going on Breville?? This product needs to be recall and replace with a brand new machine that has been properly tested.

Very bad – This thing is so bad that when I replaced it with a different model from a different brand, my girlfriend didn't think I'd done my weekly vacuum sealing because "she didn't hear an hour of swearing coming from the kitchen".

Intermittent and overheats. Useless is too kind – Temperamental beast with a mind of it's own I bought one to seal craft work prior to posting, so no issue with liquids. It is complete waste of money. From day 1 it only worked when it wanted too. It usually vacuums ok, It seals the bags 1 time in 20->30 attempts and by then it has overheated! Seems to prefer the pre-made bags over the… Read more

rolls. (But price wise I prefer rolls)

I have managed to pack about 10 items with it in 2 months.

It is now on it's way back to the store when we next go to town. Can't think of any. Almost everything. Should be recalled as faulty

With the other reviewers here – I also got one as part of the Sous Vide package. It worked for a while and then wouldn't suck or seal. The shop was good about organising a replacement, but within a few uses that one didn't work either. No point getting a third. It's not intuitively easy to use either. Stopped working very quickly

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT – I purchased this item in Brisbane in December 2013 and was soooo looking forward to using it. I have had no end of trouble with it. The suction works occasionally and when it does it is not removing anywhere near all of the air from the bag. The heating strip sometimes melts the plastic bag right through. I live in New Zealand and it is unlikely… Read more

I can get it replaced or a refund as I do not have the docket. I would advise people NOT to buy this product. Breville have let me down with this one and I have had a lot of Breville products over the years. I cannot give it even half a star rating!!

I wish I had never bought it. Not a lot. It only works sometimes and is very inconsistent.

It is OK, If it wasn't free... I might change my mind – I got this as a gift with my Sous Vide Supreme (5* BTW), and it does a sufficient job. I can understand where some of the other reviewers are coming from, but with all respect - the manual does state about liquids in the bags. I haven't had the problems with doing multiple bags though.... I did have a few liquid incidents but it wasn't tragic… Read more

or anything like that, I just worked around it. At the end of the day, it isn't an expensive sealer like the Sunbeam food saver, and because I wouldn't use it for anything but the Sous Vide, I can't justify that expense. Does the job OK, Compact, Easy to use, It was free. Could be better, Doesn't always seal properly.

Dreadful – This sealer is a total waste of time and money. I got this included with a $700 Sous Vide cooker from Breville and thought I would be getting a good bargain. Useless is too kind a word for it! Fine as a normal impulse sealer, but forget about trying to seal anything that has liquids in it. I tried to get it to seal a marinade bag and gave up after… Read more

a dozen attempts and several bags later.

Prior to this I was eying off the bigger version (BVP750) but will be looking elsewhere now. The cardboard box it came in Everything - Failed to seal

Breville BVP700 Fresh Keeper Sealing Unit – This machine is an absolute waste of money thank goodness ours was through a credit card rewards and didn't cost us cash!!!! Would not recomend this to anyone. I have now bought a Lumina and it is fantastic!!! Breville should be withdrawing this before other people waste their money . NOTHING Doesn't seal bags properly, overheats after 3-4 bags and won't work anymore till you stand around and wait for it to cool down.

Useless – Purchased in March this year, has probably sealed three bags. Won't suck air out, won't seal bags. Complete waste of money, DON'T WASTE YOURS! More words wanted? This product is the most useless piece of kitchen equipment ever bought, it even lacks a decent fixture to attach the fishing line to! It won't do what it is advertised to do, false and misleading advertising would be a good summary

Two in a row were faulty – We bought one and it did not work with the tape over the heating element, so we removed the tape and then we actually sealed three bags. I agree, it is very poor at vaccuuming. Next time we went to use it, it would not work. Got a new one under warranty and it would not work at all. I think that I will have to buy a much better machine. It… Read more

is disappointing when you have the Sous Vide Supreme warming up, you are salivating at the thought of nice soft meat and you cannot seal the bags. It is simple to operate and would be fantastic if it worked. It would not work - realistically, it should sell for about $50 but even then it should work.

Waste of money! – Having previously owned a vacuum sealer that last a good 5 years, i bought this when it eventually died (RIP). Probably made no more than 20 bags before it died. Gutless, overheats after 2 bags and a total waste of money. Can't say i'd recommend this to anyone, pay a bit extra for something that will last. The box it came in I could suck more air out of the bag than the compressor could and i wouldnt overheat after 2 bags LOL
