Failure of auto popup release mechanism – [name removed]'s review is the exact opposite of my experience with this toaster (see my other reviews). Generally such a blatantly positive review is inserted to undermine the real (genuine customer) reviews and to promote the product. Draw your own conclusions. My toaster now won't popup at all. It toasts as before (inconsistent) but the catch… Read more

that holds the toast down is now stuck and won't auto release. I have to use force to override the stuck catch and soon that will lead to failure of the catch. Wont be long before I will have to buy a new toaster. It won't be a Breville. As an engineer i know toasters can be better designed. This one is designed to make you buy a better one.

Burns everything on lowest setting – Bought this toaster online from an ebay retailer. Unopened in original packaging. Even on the lowest setting everything comes out black. Contacted Breville "support" who claim not to have the item in their catalogue despite it appearing on their website. Then told it was not worth being assessed by a service centre. Then told that they would… Read more

not recognise the retailer.

Retailer contacted Breville and went through the same rigor moral.

Warranty not worth anything. Appearance Burns everything on lowest setting

Love this baby and have had it for many meany years now – I find it very reliable and easy to use :-) I like the fact that there are separate controls for the 2 sets of toast so those who have a different taste are not stuck eating what the other person likes. Also used it to toast from frozen bread to perfect toast, used it for crumpets, for home made bread as well as for the store bought and… Read more

regardless of the slice thickness of texture it has allways given us a perfect result.

Will happily get another one of these if my toaster ever dies :-) Ease of use, easy controls, great toast quality, 2 sets of controls, can handle any thicknes bread and any sice bread

Haven't had many problems – For a fancy looking toaster, it has quite basic functions. We haven't had it long so haven't had any issues although I must say I have to have the settings on 1-2 out of 6 any higher and it burns the toast which makes me wonder why they have a setting up to 6 (I don't even turn it up if cooking frozen bread)... Looks nice on my benchtop and I like being able to cook 4 pieces at a time Quite pricey for what you get...

Terrible – Piece of rubbish. Don't waste your time or money on this piece of garbage. $95 bought me a fancy looking 2 slice toaster. 50% of it broke down after a year (the 50% that wasn't used all that often so it had to be a manufacturing fault because the side we use all the time is still going!!!) Out of warranty so Breville don't want to know you.… Read more

Funnily enough, they won't tell me just how long they would expect a $95 toaster to last. Our previous el cheapo Kmart special lasted 10 YEARS. I am now going to launch an official complaint through Consumer Protection and will NEVER buy Breville again now I know how poor their customer service is. It looks nice. 1 star for the side that actually works. Manufacturing quality is poor and customer service is even worse.

uneven burning – I find this cooks more on one side than the other and you have to watch it too it tends to heat very quickly which is a good thing usually but because of the unevenness it causes more hassles in the office than necessary. realible uneven cooking

Don't buy this toaster – Uneven toasting- one side burnt other raw. Control goes from raw to burn between setting 1&2 (never got to setting 6). Replaced under warranty. New one is similar but now only two slots work and is out of warranty. Saw two of these in a workplace and when questioned the workers said they couldn't get even toasting. I believe Choice wrote a good… Read more

report on this toaster! I know of 4 that are not worth the money. How hard is it to make a $90 toaster that works! Have bought a different brand, only much cheaper, that works better.

Uneven toasting, unreliable, expensive, no usable control over toasting

Burns toasts all the time – We've had this toaster for 3 years, and it's burnt my toast/ crumpets/ waffles/ muffins more times than I can count! It's counter-intuitive to use- even if you adjust the browning setting, you have to press another button for it to pop out at the right time. with or without pressing that extra button makes the browning setting completely different… Read more

While I like the slide out bit at the bottom so that you can wash the crumb tray, the rest of the toaster is not accessible to clean. The pop-out height of the toaster is moderate- higher would be nice. I can't understand why it just can't make the basic function simple! Looks nice, toasts both sides evenly, not that costly. Burns toasting item often, not that easy to clean.

Good – We bought another Breville toaster and brought it back the next day as it would barely warm and cremate different parts of the same slice. This toaster has a really even cooking result and I tried out the crumpet function with the big square crumpets and they were perfect. Highly recommended. Good features, looks OK, not too expensive and EVEN… Read more

toast and crumpets.

Can cook just 2 slices, if you buy a 2 slot 4 slice toaster you have to light all the elements regardless of how many slices you are cooking. These toasters do take up a fair bit of cupboard space but could stay on the bench.

Bread does not lift very high, which might be an issue for muffins.

Excellent – overall i love this toaster, we have had no issues with it at all, it toasts perfectly to the setting you set it at so you will never burnt toast again which is something i always use to do but never again this toaster is great, its so much better then our last 2 toast toaster which was always a pain when you have 3 in the family and you have to… Read more ·  1

stand there making toast while everyone else eats, this way you can make 4 toasts at a time so the whole family can enjoy breakfast together without toast getting cold there is nothing i dislike about this product

Good – Hubby bought this on a "we need a new toaster" whim. It looked like the one his parents had (it is not - they have a Tefal) and was reduced to $60. I like the fact that I can choose to toast either 2 or four slices with different settings and the slots are wide for thick bread, rolls or crumpets. However, I am yet to have toast pop up from… Read more

this machine toasted how I want. Even the lightest settings seem to toast quite dark, especially with grain or fruit toast. Additionally you need to manually lift the level that extra bit to get your toast out, especially with smaller pieces of bread.

Otherwise, it looks good and works quite well. wide slots (at least on one side), able to toast two or four pieces separately and set different toast levels all setting seem very dark, need to raise lever to get toast out

Excellent – Bought this with the Breville Emporia kettle, they look great together, nice and curvy, while still looking very modern. Nice wide slots, which is good for home-made bread and your anything like me and find it impossible to cut thin slices! I like that the 4 slots are divided into two, so your not wasting power if your only toasting 1-2 pieces.… Read more

Very happy with this product. Looks great, wide slots, cooks more evenly than most toasters (I know thatn none are 100%, but this comes the closest)

Good – i am very happy with this toaster as i am often in a hurry in the morning and is fast compared to previous toaster, that i would burn fingers on (different brand a M R) Great even toasting with wide slots for crumpets also matches most appliances. great toaster independent 2slice or 4 slice option fast as high wattage. Great for crumpets very even, looks great even when left out on bench. no warming rack for muffins

Good – I really like this product. I like the chunky design and the stainless-steel look. My favourite thing about the toaster is that the soft setting just toasts really lightly and the high setting toasts really well but doesn't burn the toast. The slots are quite wide so you can even fit in fat cut bread and some bread rolls. Don't try wide bread… Read more

rolls as it always switches off the power if any bread touches the element. Cute look, toasts just to the setting Switches off the mains power if you toast a roll or something oddly shaped

Terrible – I Cannot give a high rating as the 2 models I have had cannot make toast evenly or without some technical problem. I am going back to the store for a 3rd time and really don't know if I will be taking this toaster home for a 3rd attempt. Big slots for thick cut bread; looks good; crumpet setting good. Had to return first one as cancel button did… Read more

not work on left slots. Replacement toasts unevenly, you have to turn bread over to get brown both sides. You dod this with the cancel button which now turns off the power! First one did not turn power off (using right cancel button). Manufacture quality is therefore a bit dubious, third time lucky perhaps.

Terrible – Cost $5 more than RRP. But I bought it anyway, based on other good reviews. Spent the afternoon testing it. Most unhappy with VERY uneven toasting. Expect better from a $70 toaster! Breville response to email prompt, but not really helpful. They said that you can't expect 100% even toasting. I would have been happy with 80%! But 20% is NOT OK!… Read more

Took it back for a refund. The Crumpet feature is brilliant! Crumpets are toasted just right. Toasts unevenly for both white and wholemeal bread - one side OK, but the other only just warm. Needed to turn toast over and cook it again to get both sides done evenly. And NO!! I didn't accidentally use the crumpet setting!

Good – I liked this toaster but it fizzled one morning when I went to toast some bread for breakie. Other than that I loved this toaster and went and bought another Breville toaster to replace it. This one was a wedding present and so it was a bit more expensive than what I would have bought. I decided on the colour set of toaster and kettle to… Read more

replace this one. I found the stainless steel had started to rust, as we lived next to a salt water river for a eighteen months with this toaster. So I chose a plastic blue breville toaster and matching kettle. Looks great on the counter if you are like me and don't put your toaster away after use... It died one morning without warning, prone to rusting as it is stainless steel. If you live on a salt water canal or river/ocean, get a plastic surround.
