Great tea infuser
I agree with Knuckle, this kettle is great. The design is simple and works well: the magnetic tea infuser basket is easy to use and remove.
If using the brewing timer, you need to set it first. After the kettle has boiled, you add the tea leaves to the basket and start the timer. I let the tea brew for as long as I want, and then use a tea towel to detach the hot infuser basket from the lid, so it doesn't keep brewing, and put the kettle back on the base plate. The minimum volume in the kettle is 2 cups, so this is really good for making tea for 2+ people. Excellent for large groups where you want a big pot of tea that will keep warm or can be heated up again, but (with the infuser basket removed) will stay at the chosen strength.
As an ordinary kettle, it is simple to use and is quieter than the glass kettle I had previously. It beeps three times when boiled, loud enough to hear it, but not overly loud. I'm really happy with it, and I'm enjoying different types of tea.
After reading reviews on the Breville Tea Maker, I decided on the Breville Tea Infuser, which was on sale at Myer at the pre Boxing Day sale. Now my wife and I buy lots of tea from T-2, and the Breville not only has a Steep timer, so you can brew your favourite for just the right time, but you can make extra, as this unit has a keep warm function for 30 min, as long as it's sitting in the Power cradle. This unit also doubles up as a Kettle, as the infuser is attached to the lid with a magnet, which is easily disconnected with the push of a button. It appears to be a very well built and designed unit, without the issues the Tea Maker has.
