CHEAP Plastic (from China?) used – Clear plastic on the rid cracked. Got replacement in 3 months. New one cracked again. It's a defect material Breville is using. I thought one of famous appliance companies could do better than this. Show details

Buyer Beware, Safety Issue – The Kettle had been OK, a little loud, water level is Ok to see. But after around a year and a half later. I had put the kettle on, then went outside to hang out the washing, I noticed the the kettle was still boiling which I was very surprised. It has been doing it intermittently since. It also makes a electrical popping sound. I had phoned… Read more

Breville not wanting a warranty claim but notifying them about the problem but all he said was we can get someone to repair it but it will be a cost to me if they didn't think it was a problem. He didn't seem concerned about the safety issue.

Please fix that cracked lid problem! – We’ve replaced this kettle with the same model after they’ve given up, because it’s light to lift compared to others. However, it’s about the lid. The plastic lids crack and discolour, a feature Breville won’t or can’t fix because we and members of my family have all had these kettles, all with the same problem. We’ve had about four or five over the years. What’s wrong, Breville? Show details

Annoying – Purchased this kettle a few weeks ago. It has features I liked. Especially the water indicator. It’s a little noisy but so are most kettles so That’s not my issue. I am hating the ting. It’s supposed to go off when kettle is boiled. I hear mine every time I put the kettle down or move it. It’s driving me crazy. It’s an expensive kettle for something I want to throw. Show details

Great product – Our kettle lasted for 17 years before giving up the ghost today. Never missed a beat in all that time. Very well put together & stylish design. Just placed an order for the same model as a replacement. Great work Breville. Show details

Noisy noisy noisy – This kettle roars. It is so loud that you cannot have a phone conversation or hear the radio while it is heating. The glass top is cracked too. I am looking for a replacement right now. This is my third noisy kettle . If the replacement becomes noisy I will bypass the retailer and demand a refund from the manufacturer. As if it is really noisy it is 'not fit for the purpose' Show details

good kettle – We bought this in 20-10-2014 and have been happy with its performance. . The clear plastic on the top cracked some time ago. It looked ugly but didn't interfere with the functioning of the kettle. However the on/off switch completely failed this morning 30-6-2020. This kettle has probably had more than 11,000 cycles in this time as we work from… Read more

home. Having looked at the market, there are many things we like about this kettle. It is easy to fill, it is reasonably quick, not too noisy, it notifies you when it has boiled amongst others. I think we will buy another Breville BKE700.

Works well but i will have to throw it because the lid has disintegrated – The kettle works well but the plastic lid has disintegrated. Which means I have had to throw away a perfectly working kettle. This increases e- waste and damages our environment

This is good electric Kettle – I bought this Kettle to replace my old sunbeam kettle. This is good electric kettle, boil really quick and very light weight and outside of this kettle is a bit warm and not dangerously hot at all. I have been using it twice a day, to make hot coffee in the morning and afternoon. The downside in this product is that it made mostly from plastic not… Read more

stainless Steel. Overall, This product is good but need improvement. I would recommend to buy this product.

Noisy and lasted less then 2 years – I found this kettle to be extremely noisy ,the loudest kettle Ive ever had. I bought it in 20 April 2017 and it stopped working today 24 February 2019 past the guarantee period . Not happy.I wouldl expect an expensive kettle to continue working for a reasonable period not less then two years. Show details

Seems great! I've only one thing I dislike about it so far – Seems like a great little kettle, I purchased it from Bing Lee recently from the first time I tried it ive been quite happy with my purchase. Pros: - Water does actually taste a lot nicer compared to what my old kettle gave. - Very easy to view the amount of water in the kettle with the twin water level windows, thankfully they aren't sealed… Read more

either, so I don't need to worry about anything that might get into the kettle getting stuck in there.

- Pouring spout is adequately large enough to fill straight from a standard faucet. (I know the kettle is designed for top filling, but it's convenient.)

- Heats water nice and quickly and also has handy safeguards for auto shutoff and boil-dry protection.

- Concealed element means nothing can get stuck under or around it, making the kettle a lot easier to clean.

- Nice loud bell to let me know when my water is heated.

Cons:

- Metal sides of the kettle do become quite hot during operation and remain hot as long as there is hot water in the kettle. - The only areas that are ok to touch are the handle and the on/off switch.

I do hope this kettle lasts a decent amount of time.

worked great, but shut-off has quit – This has been a great kettle for our family. We have used it once or twice daily for about two years, so we have gotten good use out of it. But the auto shut-off has stopped working which is a real safety hazard. In the little research I've done it appears this cannot be fixed. A real bummer for an expensive item. We try to buy high quality items so they last.  Show details

Clear top cracks – We have just replaced this kettle under warranty. It was nine months old. The trouble? The clear plastic in the lid developed an alarming series of cracks. The same thing has happened to my daughter's kettle and to her mother-in-law's kettle. Also, a large, dark brown stain on the inside base of the kettle has appeared. This is our second Breville… Read more

kettle and there was no trouble with the first kettle lid. Is a different type of plastic being used? We'll see with our replacement kettle.

Loud and auto shut off sometimes fails – I have owned this kettle for 11 months. For the first few months it was ok. Much quieter than my previous kettle. Gradually it started to get louder. Cracks have mysteriously appeared in the lid. I can live with both these things, but now, on occasion, it just keeps boiling and is dangerous. I plan to take it back before the warranty expires.  Show details

Excellent reliable kettle – A real workhorse. This is the second one of these, purchased the first one around 4 and a half years ago and it was punished. The electrics still work fine but the plastic holder for the filter etc crumbled away and the lid didn't seal 100% in the end. The new one is very quiet and efficient. Would recommend it for the money.  Show details ·  1

Great Basic Kettle – I bought this kettle a few weeks back and have been very impressed so far. Much research was done on this site as i wanted to stay with Breville after a healthy 8-10 years with my last one. After many reviews i decided to stay away from anything that had too much in the way of the electronic temperature adjustments as they seem t be the failing… Read more ·  2

link in many reviews and I've gone back to the basic Boiler. I like the light indicator which tells me when it is on and the clear indication of the water level. It is quiet and it makes a little "ting" sound when the water is ready.
