I can not be happier. It looks fantastic . I researched kettles for weeks before I decided which one to choose . I initially wanted the Smeg retro kettle but upon closer inspection that kettle was cheaply made and cheap looking and used many plastic components in and out of the kettle itself. It had a plastic handle that would degrade over time definitely not what I was willing to get for a $299 outlay. That kettle was no better than a $30 kmart plastic kettle. I don’t want plastic to leach into the water I drink .It is well proven that when plastic is heated it releases micro plastics.

After all the research I chose Breville the Crystal Luxe Kettle in Damson Blue ( metallic navy blue) for its build quality, performance ,style, lack of plastic, and quiet functionality.

It is well made with glass and stainless steel. It is slightly heavier than its plastic competitors but in my opinion well worth it, only plastic on this appliance is the stand it sits on. The kettle is so quiet and has a cute little bell( sounds like bell on kids bike) to advice when it has completed its job. The bell is triggered by movement so sometimes you can hear it when pouring the water into your cup but it is a cute sound and not a problem overall. It also has a soft open lid and a mesh filter. The on switch is easy to find and use . The kettle has a cord that is thick and long ( over a meter that can be wrapped around and hidden in its base. You can buy a toaster to match the kettle as well.

Because the water is boiled in glass there is no foul taste in the water. The water heats up very quickly and quietly . I would have thought the glass would have been hot to the touch but I was surprised that it was safe from causing accidental burns from touching the hot kettle.

Do not overfill the kettle or it will splash over. The maximum water and minimum water levels are clearly marked and as long as they are adhered to the kettle works perfectly. As a precaution to prevent boil over I fill mine slightly under the max water line and I never had any splash over/ boil over.

It is a beautifully designed looking kettle that is well made and comes in a few different colours. It also has the ability to have temperature control so you can set the temperature of the water from 50 to 100 degrees but that model is more expensive( $75 more) and I had no need for it as it is best suited for people who want to brew specialty teas. When on sale it can be bought for $149 regular price is $199. I would recommend this kettle to anyone who wants a quality kettle that will last years that is not plastic or cheap looking and is built with quality in mind. I am very happy with my purchase. Love the colour too matches my Hamptons styled kitchen to perfection.

Just a warning to be careful with this kettle .It is a very pretty kettle but it does an explosive boil over even after the auto switch flicks off. Unfortunately for me it has totally discoloured the microwave that the kettle sat on ..now Harvey norman did right by me they swapped it over for a new 1 but that is not my point ..this kettle can be a dangerous item for any house hold... if it happens to you just immediately return to place of purchase ...if you watch the video listen for the click off and then see what the kettle continues to do

Follow-up  · Right so the follow up .... 'I have no problems with Harvey Norman i want to make that quite clear ... they replaced that kettle with a new 1 but Breville were not so keen to help ..yes it ruined the look of my microwave but because it was out of waranty Breville offered a 60% discount on another new microwave which frankly i was not interested in .. why should i be out of pocket they should have just replaced my microwave but the answer was a no... funny enough the new Kettle was doing the exact same thing but after a couple of boils it has sorted itself out .. can not figure that 1 out ... i did warn Breville of the danger but they came back with legal jargon about hard surface 20cm away from the edge.... the old kettle did do the boil over at every boil and i think that whatever the auto switch off was faulty on the old kettle ..I am happy with Harvey Norman customer service but not so much with Breville customer service.... i still have the replacement kettle and i am still using it and no more problems

Follow-up  · the new one is all good no probs at all
