Why is when I joined BD Landlord insurance yesterday I only received a 15% online discount instead of the 30% it clearly states on your website?

Budget Direct
Budget Direct   DM

Good afternoon Kiera. Thank you for reaching out to us. I am happy to look into this for you. Please keep in mind the discounts that apply are 15% off for home contents only and 15% off for home building only, and 30% for home building and contents combined. So I can look into this for you, please email us at: social@budgetdirect.com.au with your policy number, date of birth and full address as listed on the policy including postcode. Take care. *Skye.

I have a house and a studio Unit rented out on my Property ( 900m2) will you insure both buildings under one policy...with landlords Insurance..( or even just house Insurance) The alternative is to Insure the House and leave the Studio Unit...but be aware of the Studio Unit on the property

Budget Direct
Budget Direct   DM

Good morning Stephen. Thank you for taking the time to ask your question. Yes! We will be able to cover both the home and unit under the one policy at the same address. You will just need to ensure that when you are doing up a quote with us, the sum insured value is for both the home and unit's total value. If you are also wishing to add additional landlord cover to the policy, when asked "What is the total weekly rental income" the total will need to be for both the home and unit income combined. Take care, *Skye.

Why do BD representatives ask us who put an honest review to give them our details; then they never answer us? We will put this comment to the public! Eve I asked you already about this, but you never answered us! Carmen.

So should we really answer these BD personnel who tell us to give them all our private details ? Are they True BD wanting to help us or just trying to procrastinating our claim to be OKed.

When we received your information it is forwarded to the relevant department for further follow up for you. If you have not received any contact from them as yet I can investigate this further. Eve, what a waste of time! I had already given you my details, Why should I repeat the same and you do not give me any answer! No, I have not heard from BD. Only a call at night from Johannesburg telling me that if our unit remains empty, as it is being repaired after the damage; BD is threading us to double the access! Claim still defined! What a rip off of a bad home insurance! Stay away from such a bad insurance!

I would really like to help move this along for you. Whilst I understand you have emailed us previously regarding this matter, this is with our claims team therefore, I can't view this. I would like to urgently have this escalated for you. In order to do so I would need your details again. I am sorry for the frustration with this. *Eve

Eve. We had a very bad time with BD yesterday. We had an sms from BD saying they had been trying to get us but we did not answer. We nowadays get spam unknown calls and do not answer them. Why is it that BD always change phone numbers which come to us clients as spam? When I answered the phone number they gave me , I came to SA and Lydia kept me on the phone for over 45 minutes with irritating BD ads. After that she said that she could not get my assessor in Brisbane and promised that my Brisbane assessor will contact me today around 10am Sydney time. What an organised disorganisation BD! This is so unprofessional on the part of BD and very stressful to us clients! If only BD uses their energy in servicing us clients and not just trying so hard to decline our genuine claim! I will contact AFCA again today!

We are still very disappointed by BD as they are very deceitful with clients who put in a claim. We will be cancelling our policy as well as other policies we have with them. Very disappointed!

Hi Budget Direct Landlord Insurance, I spoke to customer service at comparethemarket who said I don't qualify for budget direct as I made 4 claims (1 tenant default, 1 malicious damage, 2 weather claims) in last 3 years with my current insurer. is that correct?

Budget Direct

Dear Customer Service, does Landlord insurance cover bushfire?

Budget Direct
Budget Direct   DM

Hi Scott, thanks for reaching out. Under our insured events policy you are covered for loss or damage to your insured home and contents caused by fire, including bushfires and grassfires. Fire is defined as burning by flames. As every insurer is different it is always recommended you review the insurers Product Disclosure Statement to check any limits and exclusions that may apply to this insured event and to the whole policy. Have a great day Scott! *Ruby

BUDGET DIRECT! I couldn’t see 1 happy customer since I have been reading all claim reviews.Seems your premium might be a bit cheaper than the others and customers are all happy until they make claim.?! Instead of just telling them “contact with us”,can you just a bit explain why you don’t have a happy customer here who made their claims and resulted successfully?? Is all these negative reviews are coincidence?

Thanks Potential Customer:)

Budget Direct
Budget Direct   DM

Good morning John. We appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with your feedback. We do have multiple public forums for our customers to get in contact with us and voice their feedback, however, social media does tend to be the most public of these forums. Generally speaking, we find that the feedback received on social media tends to be either very positive or very negative as customers will tend to only leave feedback if they feel very strongly about their experience. Despite this, our research shows that 94% of existing Budget Direct customers would recommend us to their friends and family. These figures indicate that whilst reviews left on social media can appear to be negative, the customers who leave these reviews are in the minority.

Interesting that no one seems to have actually made a claim yet but are raving about the product. In my experience most of these policies cover very little, especially with rental default or atleast not as we might expect. Some actual claim experience might be more balanced.

Budget Direct
Budget Direct   DM

Hi Aquitania, thanks for stopping by to ask the question. We do have a large number of reviews from customers who have had a claim. We agree, it's great to have a variety of customer feedback to ensure a great balance. Wishing you all the very best. Budget Direct.

My thoughts exactly. I can't see any reviews about the claims process. I personally don't trust 5 star reviews without a long explanation why it is 5 stars. With insurance it all comes down to what happens when things go wrong, not the price you pay for premiums and how good their sales team is.

Sean
Sean

Same here. It's all sounding very suspect that there are soooo many 5 star ratings by people who have only done the sign-up. Interesting that the few that have made claims are very not-5 star.

I've had a very competitive quote from Budget Direct for Landlord Insurance and am considering switching from my current insurer. I note, however, that negative reviews on Product Review all seemed to be related to Landlord Insurance and one of them maintains that Budget Direct doesn't pay for repairs caused by a tenant's malicious damage on the basis that this is excluded because the cover doesn't include anyonet invited onto the premises, i.e. the tenant. Is this correct?

Arnold A.
Arnold A.

Hello Peter, what you have stated is correct. There’s an option to cover items such as malicious damage by tenants, it costs a bit more but mandatory of course. Overall still competitive, albeit a bit sneaky of them to make this an option when that’s really the crux of landlord insurance.

Peter
Peter

Thanks for the confirmation Arnold. I've phoned them this morning and they have confirmed that, if you want the full Landlord cover, you need to pay extra. In my case the revised quote for full landlord insurance was $600 more than their initial quote. They would save their potential customers and staff a lot of wasted time, not to mention their own reputation, if they made their initial quotes much clearer about the omissions.

Under landlord insurance, Is the home insurance same as building insurance? Budget Direct mention only as home insurance in the website, I am confused now:( Also, while getting an online quote, I didn't see the excess amount info.

Arnold A.

Yes landlord home ins covers the bldg, and excess options can be made once you commence the quotation process

Hi guys just a question on policy’s and what they cover which apart from price do they cover all important aspects?asking as this seems like to be probably the only decent one with good reviews

LIB

Most reviewers have not made a claim under their landlord insurance policy and are raving about saving money. The real test is if Budget Direct makes claiming easy and pays out in a timely fashion. One review I read made a claim and it was not a good experience. Are there anymore customers of BD who have made a claim against the policy? That is the real test. If the policy is cheaper than the others but doesn't pay out in the event of a claim, it's useless changing insurers. Better the devil you know than the one you don't.

I have home and contents insurance with Budget Direct. Is Landlord insurance needed in additional to home and contents insurance, or as a replacement for it?

LIB
LIB

Landlord insurance is specifically for the landlord of a rental property. Home and contents is for your own residential property.
