Hi. The Bushman comes with an Anderson Plug, how do I connect it to run in my house 240V. Do I need 240v to 12V transformer $129? from your website? Thank you.

HI Larissa, Yes, to run DC85-X from 240V mains power, you will need a step down 240V to 12V transformer. This comes with an Anderson plug ready to go. Any other queries just let me know. Thanks, Tommy

Hi, can I change out the Anderson plug for a 240v plug? Cheers Nikki

Hi Nikki, Thanks for the question. DC-X Series only runs directly from 12V or 24V. If you would like to run the fridge from 240V instead, you will need a 240V to 12V transformer like this one here: external link  Hope this helps, Tommy

Hi, I took the globe of the fridge so as it would not be on all the time when the door is open when defrosting as when it was installed they didn't put an anderson plug in. When I took the globe out a spring came with it this looks like it is for the on/switch onthe door. I don't know how to put it back. Can you send me some information or diagram or video to show me how it is done. Thankyou Colin George

Hi, I have a DC-X series 85lt. I have used it for one weekend and now it has stopped cooling. It is brand new, all seals are good and all power to the fridge is working but it isn’t cooling. Can you please let me know how to fix this

Our bushman fridge seems to be not adequately cooling, during the hotter part of the afternoon it heats up to 9degrees, seals all seem in good condition battery is full (fridge is only 12months old)

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Danica, We can help you with this for sure. There is usually a few reasons why this might be happening, seals is just one of them and usually only applies if the hinges have been swapped over to the other side. There are other things you can check too. Feel free to email me info@bushman.com.au Thanks, Tommy.

Hi, I have a DX130 secured as recommended for ventilation and running off solar at a fairly constant 12-13.1v. All of a sudden the fridge stopped working and the light is flashing red 3 times. The fridge sounds like it’s doing something but isn’t getting cold. When I looked at the trouble shooting guide it says “motor start error” My question is… how do I fix it?

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Dave, thanks for the message. First thing is to try running the fridge from an alternate power supply, with the factory red and black wires off the compressor connected directly to it. Please let us know how you go info@bushman.com.au Tommy :)

Glen S. · DC230-X

We have had a new Dc230x fridge installed in our Bushtracker Caravan by Bushtracker. It has been operating fine for the last couple of months in the cooler weather set on 4. Now that it has been getting hotter the back of the fridge is iced up every 4days and needs to be cleaned. The temperature in the fridge sits on about 4degrees c. Having to clean the ice out every 4 days is a pain. Glen

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Glen, Thanks for the question. The ice is building up way too fast! Most common cause for excessive ice build up is a gap in the door seal, which lets air into the fridge. This could be due to a mis-alignment of the door itself, or the door seal is not touching the fridge cabinet somewhere. The other issue could be ventilation to the rear of the fridge. For efficient operation you will need two large vents, one top and one bottom, approximately W 500mm x H 280mm. Please feel free to get in touch with us info@bushman.com.au Thank you, Tommy

Hi Jenny, The fan will run whenever the compressor is running. More during the day, and less at night. Cheers Tommy.

My DC 85 X is not getting cold in the fridge but the freezer is still cold, it's linked up to an itech battery and runs via solar panels battery says it's 100%, I recently changed the main battery wondering if this has anything to do with it? What else could it be?

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Aiden, thanks for the message. If your fridge has been running fine, and now it is playing up, and you have just changed something in your electrical system, this is probably the best place to start. Check that the fridge is wired directly to the battery terminals on a dedicated circuit only, and that all connections are 100% secure, especially if any wiring or connections have been changed. What temperature do you recommend to run the fridge on. Has food and soft drink in it. Is the temperature colder on 1 or 5

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Yvette, 7 is the coldest setting, 1 is warmest. Every setup is slightly different, so we recommend starting on 3, let the fridge run for a few days and if your drinks are not cold enough, turn it up one number at a time for a few days each. Try and use the lowest number possible for best efficiency. Thanks, Tommy

Hi. I am considering replacing a compressor fridge in my houseboat with a Bushman DC85X. I have a Victron solar setup. The current fridge only runs on 240 so the plug is for a 240 v power point. The Bushman comes with an Anderson Plug, how do I connect it to run on both 240 & solar please?

Douglas Brumpton

I think DC85x should be a good fridge. I have DC130X which struggles a bit with our hot climate, i think they run same compressor.

Sidcam
Sidcam

Thanks. I am just trying to work out how to actually plug it in ….. the connection on the fridge is an Anderson plug but the point on my Victron inverter is a 240 v point

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Sidcam, Thanks for the message. You can run the DC85-X directly from your battery bank if it is 12V or 24V, without going via the inverter, this would be the most efficient way. If you would like to run the fridge from 240V, you will need to use a 240v to 12V transformer. We sell these on our website. Hope this helps, Tommy

Hi, our bushman 130 has stopped working. Feels like the compressor is running but not cooling anymore. Definately not low voltage from power supply. Are there any things I can do to test?

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Sean, If you can put your hand on the compressor to check that it is definitely running, and it is not just the fan spinning (the compressor will vibrate and get warm). If the compressor runs non-stop for 30 minutes, the aluminium freezer itself should be getting freezing cold to touch. If not, then something is wrong with the cooling system, I would guess either a leak or a blockage. Both are rare but they can happen. If that is the case, please contact us 03 8080 9990 or via email info@bushman.com.au

If the freezer is getting freezing cold to touch, then the cooling system is working and we would need to troubleshot other areas for you. You can contact us today 03 8080 9990.

Hi there We are on our first longish trip with our Bushman’s DC130-X and been very happy with it. Have had it running on 4. The freezer started building up ice and found out that the ice build up broke the plastic ‘door pin’ that attaches the door to the body of the freezer compartment. A bit of a compounding situation where the ice built up more after the door pin broke off. Has anyone else had this issue? Cheers, Mike

My bushman SC35/52 has been running faultless for the past 2 years. All of a sudden i have power to the fridge, but the fridge isn't getting cold. Inside temp shows 27c i have tried unplugging and checking connection which seems fine. What could be causing this issue. So annoying when we have been getting warm weather.

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi C.M. Thanks for your question. There could be a couple of things to check. Most common is power supply. Try running the fridge form a different power supply, or in a different vehicle with the engine running. Turn the fridge on and look in through the top vents, there is a red LED near the compressor electronic module that will flash. If you then call us 03 8080 9990 and we will know what to do next. Cheers, Tommy

Thank you for your response. I plug it in to a wall socket and it runs fine. So tells me my battery is the issue. So glad it isn't the fridge as they are a great unit.

I have had my fridge for about 12 months. It seems to be keeping everything cold or frozen, I have set mine at 3.5. However I am having problems with the shelves sliding/shifting forward and food falling down the back, as well as the shelving dislodging from their wall tracks. This is happening on either road, gravel, or outback terrain. What can be done to stop the shelves moving? Secondly, 2 of the shelf racking support bars have broken/snapped, is there a quick fix or do they have to be replaced completely?

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Allan, We can help you with this! First up, send us an email to info@bushman.com.au and we can organise some new shelves for your fridge. Second up, when you get them, you will notice the side rails are slotted half way along. These sides are designed to be bent outwards to put force on the rails to hold them in place. Cheers, Tommy

Hi I haven't even had my fridge for that long and the first trip shelves kept falling off, absolutely a useless design and will never buy one again

Bushman Fridges

Hi Michael, the shelves are slotted on each side, so you can adjust the amount of pressure on each shelf. This will stop them sliding forward. Tommy

Bushman Fridges

Hi Neil, Thanks for your question. Hopefully some customers might respond to this also. The freezer section on any fridge is always coldest closest to the walls where the cooling elements are. You will not have any issues freezing items in this freezer. Cheers, Tommy

Stewie
Stewie · DC130-X

Have had a dc130-x installed in my ultimate camper last month. Have been away for the weekend running on battery but starting off with a fully charged battery. That evening the fridge stopped working. I assume it is a battwry problem. My question is, in the small booklet that came with the fridge it states " If your fridge cuts out or will not operate, look inside the compressor compartment for a flashing LED light." Where is this flashing red light? I cannot see it anywhere. I assume the compressor compartment is the white box in the top RH corner. Could you please tell me where it is. Do I have to remove the cover from the fridge compartment or is it visible from the front of the fridge? Thanks. Stewart Corfield.

Bushman Fridges
Bushman Fridges   DM

Hi Stewie, Thanks for the message. Depending on how new your fridge is, the red LED will either be inside the light inside the fridge (the clear cover pulls down from the front). If it is not in there, it will be connected to the compressor which is located top, rear right corner of the fridge on the outside. You are correct in your assumption though, when a fridge stops running at night, almost 100% of the time it is a low voltage situation, as during the day the battery is being charged by solar and the voltage is higher. Feel free to email me info@bushman.com.au and we can go through some troubleshooting with you, Tommy.
