Canon Pixma TS9160 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy Canon TS9160 printer/scanner is good to print with but hopeless at scanning photos. They come out very dark. I have tried to change settings but nothing improves the end result. Very frustrating.
I also found that when I had a 9160 printer. Nothing I could do would improve it. Now that printer is sitting unused in my garage. It was the worst printer I’ve ever had.
My excellent TS 9160 now prints colour in a dull, flat form. I have completed all the maintenance routines but with no effect. Any ideas of the cause? Thank you.
what canon prionter prints on cd and dvd disc the ts 9060 did but is not made no more.
I have had 5 different models of Canon Pixma printers and have always been able to continue printing even though it says that the ink cartridges were empty, by holding down the stop button for 5 seconds or so. I now have the TS9160 and it absolutely refuses to print even in greyscale because 3 of the cartridges are showing as empty. I printed a nozzle check and all the colours printed out fine even though they are supposed to be empty. Does anyone now if there is a bypass for this. There is still a lot of ink in those "empty" cartridges!
When the printer indicates that the cartridges need replacing I have always replaced the cartridges. I do not know anything about a bypass.
Thanks!

Yes
If a colour ink runs out, will this printer still allow you to print just black and white? (I've had issues with other printers before, once one ink runs out it won't print until you replace a colour)
It still allows you to print giving you a warning but once it gets to a certain point it advises replacement so as not to damage the printer head. You can select grayscale printing in the printer driver and even though this still uses a small amount of colour ink to blend the gray colour it will not allow you to print once the colour has expired. Print heads are expensive probably more expensive than the actual printer. There is no reason not to use cheaper coloured ink even if you don't print in colour . The printer itself auto detects when you are printing text so even if you don't set it to grayscale it will still do the same job .Grayscale just prevents the printer from using the colours it does not need. If you just want to print in grayscale I would suggest buying a cheap laser printer . I always keep spares on hand so eventually you will learn which colours run out first and always have these on hand . leaving yourself with no carts is a bit foolish if you do a lot of printing .
how do install canon pixma 9160 printer on my computer
Did the printer come with an install disc? Should just be able to insert that into your computer and follow the prompts. If no disc, google search canon 9160 drivers, install from canon website and follow prompts.
Just put the disc in and follow the instruction
is it easy to print from a chromebook? Val
Sorry Val G, I have not tried that.
wont load driver plus wont aknowledge new ink
Howdy ray h. After a short time the only trouble I had with both models, was that codes 1240 and 1259 kept recurring, which stopped operations! and could not be fixed. Up to that time everything else worked OK.
Can I print double sided booklets
Can I print directly from my iPhone?
Hello Jennifer. Sorry for this late reply, but I dont check my email very often. Yes. you can print directly from your iPhone. I haven't used that facility so I'm not able to tell you how to do so, but If you contact Canon or look in the online instruction manual there willbe simple instructions about how to do so.
