Capstar Tablets Questions & Answers
How long does it last?
can capstar be used on lactating queens?
what is the best flea treatment for cats?
I use Capstar for my dog and my cat. Use it if you notice fleas on them and the fleas start dying almost instantly. They end up on top of the fur, wriggling on their backs, looking next-to-dead. :D They're easy to catch and brush off then. Otherwise, they die anyway and fall off.
I've tried using Frontline and Advantage but all that stuff does is put a hole in my wallet, wet my animals with disgusting smelly medicine, distresses my cat, and it doesn't even prevent fleas.
I'm the owner of an adorable mini foxie X jack Russell and I'm really worried about what to use on her for fleas. any help?
I use Revolution without any problems on my cats & dogs now- treats fleas & worms
How long does capstar last ? Is it an everyday thing ?
I do not know how often you can use it safely. We gave up on it as we were after a long-term treatment. The effects of this treatment last between 24-48 hours in our experience. The trouble is that fleas lay eggs all around the place and dogs fraternise with other flea-ridden animals. You are almost guaranteed that short term treatments will not address these issues as they will pick up new fleas.
Is it ok to buy a tablet for large dogs and break them up to give to my small dogs ?
Hmm I'm not too sure. I do with with comfortis and my vet said it's fine but I've never tried it with capstar. I'm interested in others responses to this question!
That is exactly what I do. I haven't had any problems with this method. I have one large dog and two small dogs - so it works out cheaper for me this way.
I just used a carefully calibrated gram scale to check the weight of a large dog Capstar tablet. It only weighed 50 mg. Yet all product information says that each tablet contains 57mg of NITENPYRAM and that the inactive ingredients in the product are LACTOSE MONOHYDRATE; CELLULOSE; MICROCRYSTALLINE STARCH, CORN; COLLOIDAL SILICON DIOXIDE; MAGNESIUM STEARATE.
How can one interpret this?
