BOTH CATS REFUSE TO USE THE LITTER BOX. I can't tell you about litter spread... well, I guess I can, IT'S ZERO which should get 5 stars BUT it's zero because they WON'T TOUCH IT, so that brings it back down to 0 stars if I could, but I can't, so we'll make it 1 star shall we? As for dust production, it's zero, which should earn 5 stars... BUT… Read more
that's because they won't touch it, so again, that's 0-1 stars.
As for disposing of and replacing litter, I can't tell you as we haven't done it cos the 2 cats WON'T USE IT. Again, ZERO STARS cos we should've replaced this several times from November to February, but NOPE, NOT ONCE. No cr#p, no pee so no need.
Does the litter absorb odours? No, not at all because they're trashing in the old litter boxes and the Luxury Pro doesn't have odour absorbing ventriloquist powers, as far as I can tell, so any odour absorption is due to our very expensive walnut litter, which we're still having to buy because we can't use the luxury pro. So luxury pro ZIP, walnut litter 4 stars.
PS We got the expensive extras, wanting to MINIMISE OUR TIME SCOOPING THE POOPING but, alas, NO. Expensive extras also get 0-1 stars because we haven't used them cos the kitty cats refuse to.
On a serious note, with the cost of living, we saved and splurged on this BEFORE CHRISTMAS as a treat, cos this thing is expensive. Well MERRY POOPY CHRISTMAS to us!
Reasonably happy with the litter box to start with, but after a year or so we started experiencing glitches and it has became increasingly unreliable to the point (3 years on) we now check it every time we walk past, often forced to manually initiate a cycle The unit also has lots of nooks, crannies and separate internal panels that trap (dirty)… Read more
litter, making it almost impossible to properly clean and our cats become reluctant to use it.
The kicker dragging down the score is the cost associated with even the smallest/simplest of spares: $100 flat rate shipping applied to EVERYTHING! So the light plastic $25 clip-in sifting screen, with delicate easily broken clips (if you clean it as recommended) becomes a $125 purchase!
A side issue was our dog took to snuffling for “cat truffles” in the litter box, and opened up her head on some sharp brackets on the inner edge of the litter box entry. Not really an issue for cats but it’s just a poor design.
Bottom line, we’re investigating OTHER options and cannot recommend this product.
For those who want to get rid of all the tedious tasks and hand them over to machines, buying this product is definitely a mistake! Not only it will not help you achieve your dreams, but it will also bring you more troubles, which is definitely a waste of money! Every time the machine finishes running, your expectations of it will be dashed… Read more
because you will find large chunks of pee and poo stuck to the bottom, and you have to manually clean them. So what's the point of buying it? You follow the usual method to report the problem to customer service for help, and they will only reply to you once. Their advice is to try all the modes in the machine and replace the cat litter. You have done everything that needs to be done, but the problem still exists. At this point, you will find that the customer service has disappeared, and even your email address has been blocked by them! So don't buy it, it's a waste of money, time, and energy!
I have reached out now for the 4th time in 3 years due to the machine being broken. I had to pay $250 to replace the last time. Even though warranty is 1 year, the warranty should restart if it has to be replaced. Less than a year after my third replacement, it's broken AGAIN. The last replacement I bought for it came with a 1 year guarantee, so… Read more
hopefully it can be replaced under warranty. I'm just sick of using this machine like a subscription service. 3 years and 4 faults needing replacement. Useless machine and not worth the money. DO NOT BUY.
Does not contain smell at all – Records weight and works as stated, however it absolutely stinks. Bag had to be emptied and inside wiped down every couple days then completely dismantled and cleaned once a week, which is challenging to do. Going through more kitty litter then previously with manual tray. Very unhappy with this expensive purchase. Gaps all throughout so used kitty litter gets stuck in, so the smell never goes after cleaning. Show details
Poor quality unit – I was happy with the product until it failed, less than two years old . I would warn all prospective buyers that this is not worth the money I paid for it . The manufacturer s were happy to help with trouble shooting but when that failed they just hid behind the fact of only 12 months warranty. I will let everyone know not to buy this product. I… Read more
have two CATLINK trays and the manual one failed the same week . The adapter failed , lucky I had another adapter to try because they are not sold through the place I got my tray and guess what the manufacturer is out of stock ! Not happy at all
Not repairable – Once out of warranty if it breaks, it’s not repairable. Waste of money Show details
Very Good – Great so far cats used it straight away. Time will tell as I have 3 cats. It sure beats scooping each day and they have fresh litter all the time. The build quantity is better than I thought and its super quiet. I ordered the step as its a bit high for the cats to jump into. Show details
Stinky and hard to clean – Have been using this for 6 months now and have mixed feelings about it. It definitely serves its purpose and works as it’s designed to. If you have cats a self cleaning litter box is a must, especially if you have a fussy cats. However I find it gets smelly very quickly and you need to empty the waste bin very frequently as this is where most… Read more
of the smell comes from - which for my cats, this defeats the purpose of it. My cats don’t like the cat smell, and won’t use a litter box that is smelly. I find also after doing a complete deep clean and washing the ball with pet odour neutralising products, it still has a smell and a lot of waste gets stuck under the plastic flaps which you can’t get under. After taking it apart I also noticed a lot of litter as well as cat poop getting into all the tiny crevices which some are impossible to get into.
Also, medium and large garbage bags fit inside the waste bin so no need to waste extra money on their branded ones. They’re much cheaper and you can buy scented ones to help with the smell
Fantastic has made such a positive impact – The Catlink automatic litter box has been fantastic. No more scooping poop, no more upset cat/s. I have one who poops and pees outside the box if the litter wasn't pristine. Now all three cats are supper happy and so am I. Can't live without the Catlink litter box. Show details
So much trial and error and terrible to clean – I have so far tried 5 litter types. It doesn’t take much before it stinks (which mostly comes from the waste basket) which is clearly not very airtight. It also takes a couple of days (with two cats) before it needs emptying. Definitely not a week. And I just pulled it apart for the first time to give it a thorough clean. There was urine soaked… Read more
clumpy litter everywhere and especially in many little crevices in the base that they tell you to use wipes to clean. Was stinky litter and urine under the base as well. I am not sure it is actually a time saver. It just defers the time to clean to later
Cheap product, short life span – Stay far away from this brand. As you don’t have to scoop 5-6 times a day this is a great product for your convenience. But Catlink Australia is a terrible brand and also unreliable. I got myself pro luxury one. Only lasted for 28 months. I notices few things about Catlink scooper is that start smelling after 2-3 days. Too expensive as well.… Read more
Shouldn’t be more than 400 dollars. Quality of the product looks cheap. But does what it supposed to do. With the price tag they have, should have provided the stair way with it. Which you have to buy separately for over 100 dollars. * New updates after using 2 years, the automatic option stopped working. The sensor above the trash malfunctioned. Keep saying the trash box is full. Error sign is on. Only manual function is on, that’s how it is still usable. * contacted Catlink Australia. They asked me to do few things, which I have done exactly but still not working. As the warranty is only for 1 year. There is no other options to fix it now other than using the manual option. * As 700 dollars I spent on this Catlink automatic litter including the step I had to buy separately , I am now trying to figure out if it worth the money. May be.
It's been a week since we got the litter box, nothing but trouble – On arrival, the product was unable to be connected to wifi due to an error with the serial number being blacklisted for god knows what reason (straight out of the box! mind you we purchased it from Petso, a proper retailer) but has since been fixed through catlink customer service. The nightmare didn't end there. 1. The litter box safety features… Read more
do not engage when the cleaning cycle is in process. Radar detection does not appear to work, neither does increased engine resistance due to weight of cat nor does the infrared. This is a significant safety issue as I do not feel comfortable leaving the device unattended. 10 safety features? The device we got had none!
2. The auto cleaning function also does not work. Again, I'm assuming this relates back to the sensor malfunction but regardless of how much time has elapsed after the cat has used the litter box, it fails to engage in automatic cleaning. We have ensured the app is not in 'Do not Disturb' and that all steps have been followed. E.g. the wait time after a cat leaves, doesn't matter if it is 1,3 or 5 minutes. We have tried all the troubleshooting steps provided by catlink.
3. The machine weight sensors cannot be calibrated following Catlink's instruction. The machine cannot register if the cat enters the litterbox, and is unable to determine the weight of the cat. Mind you, we have also followed all steps as instructed and have correctly linked the cat profile with the device through the Catlink App.
For the amount of money they charge for the device, I would expect it to work straight out of the box and not have multiple sensors malfunctioning. Catlink's customer service is reasonable so far, but the manual that came with the machine was terribly written. Often we got told to try something that's different to the troubleshooting steps on manual by Catlink. This machine is simply not fit for purpose and had not even worked one day since day one. I purchased this device because we don't have time to deal with the litter. This machine has wasted much more of my time than a manual litterbox. Absolutely would not recommend it. Even one star is being too generous. I was originally going to buy their feed bow and water fountain. Sure, I might have gotten a lemon, but the experience so far certainly does not inspire any confidence for me to purchase any other products from them. I'm still in the process dealing with Catlink, I will report back.

Know better, choose better.
Won't be disappointed – I am a registered breeder and I was sceptical when buying this "Catlink". I was researching into the best robotic litter cleaner - there is a few on the market, but price wise, I couldn't justify anything over $1000.00. I came across Catlink and thought I'd give it a go. Due to a pre-existing back injury I struggle badly to do the litter boxes… Read more
(Cleaning them leaves me with pain for days). This has been a life changer! My cats used it pretty regularly over night and the clumping clay still looks good, no smell and still a lot left! It weighs the cats and updates you when they use it, so it was pretty good to see they USED it. The cats got in straight away, had a sniff about and investigated the machine. It is SO quiet, no noise from the motor and its pretty simple and easy to setup. The litter was so clean, and the clumping clay was still pretty full even after last night usage. I am going to absolutely buy another one! Great value, good price! PS - I bought a litter mat from Kmart to put at the base, and we haven't had any litter wastage (From reading other comments)
Should Have Bought it Sooner! – I have only one regret with my decision to purchase the CatLink Automatic Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box and that is that I should have done so a long time ago. What a revolution. It’s made a terrible chore an absolute breeze and my 2 cats just love it. In the past they were forced to use cat litter until I was able to face cleaning the box. Now… Read more
it’s fresh and dry every time, they feel the call of nature and within minutes of setting the unit up, they were both in there doing their thing.
At first the $499 cost seemed expensive, but then considering I spent $670 on 2 Modkat Litter Boxes ($270 each) plus replacement liners ($65 each) it was cheap in comparison. Better still, the used litter doesn’t smell, and it makes the difficult task of cleaning a simple and no-fuss thing to do.
There are however, 2 drawbacks:
1. Litter on the Floor When exiting the CatLink Litter Box, the cats leave a trail of cat litter behind them. There doesn’t appear to be any way to avoid this, and the only solution is to put a floor mat in front of the box to catch it.
2. Auto Vs Manual Cleaning I don’t know why, but it seems that on some occasions the self-cleaning function does not activate. So, the unit has to be switched from Auto to Manual to clean and then back to Auto. If you’re not careful, it’s easy to activate the Empty Function by mistake.
One cat or two, this is a product you quickly learn to appreciate.
