Was a good first flight so far anyway

Flying with this airline today , I’ve had no problems at all. Food was very nice , warm and tasty . Penty of in flight drinks.. the crew members were not very friendly but it just feels like it’s their manner so I didn’t take it personally. Show details

No customer service

I purchase a ticket premium economy , they swap the aircraft from Shangai to Rome and no premium economy available anymore. No communication to advice that no premium economy available, didn’t make any effort was made to upgrade to business, no any responsibility for they own mistakes and pore communication . Show details

Scam Airline

My sister booked a flight from Amsterdam to Sydney with a layover in Shanghai. A day after buying the ticket she got an email that the flight from Amsterdam to Shanghai has been cancelled and they've rescheduled her to the following day. Unfortunately the leg from Shanghai to Sydney has not been updated.

She cannot get it sorted out with any representative in Europe and similarly the Australian office won't help either.

We've been told to contact the office in America or China. The phone numbers to China, America, Brisbane and Melbourne are incorrect. The Sydney office number is correct but they refuse to help as the ticket was paid for in USD.

The airline is completely uncontactable. Show details

Great airline

I booked with China eastern airlines out of desperation at first. I needed to get to Germany with in a week from Melbourne. Found a flight that was leaving in 4 days very well priced. Stop over was in Shanghai. Everything run extremely well the food was great and was very happy with the service. Only bad thing was when they sent me information regarding Covid vaccinations and stuff like this it was sent to me in Chinese. I was able to get onto the airline and have them send me another email in English. Overall was a great airline and would use them again. Show details

Back to the dark ages?

Can't believe how far backward this airline is compared to others. I flew return Melbourne to Shanghai as part of a TripADeal Tour to China. Only old movies like Lalaland, very limited options in beverages, no alcohol, except beer and terrible food. I had vegetarian, no butter or margarine for the rolls, no salt and pepper, 2 of the same dessert, which was cut up melon and the main dish was just awful. At the end of the flight back in Melbourne they sprayed the cabin 3 times!! This whole experience made TripADeal look bad as well. Show details

This has to be the worst airline on the market flight melb shanghai no beer and unfrendly staff if you are not chinese and it was a qantas co chair

DO NOT FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE

Flew Business class from Auckland to Shanghai in November 2022. No inflight service, no head phones to watch movies, no blanket, two small kids meals size for snacks for our 12 hr flight. Told was high risk covid flight. I wasn’t told this before I paid almost $10k for my ticket, I wouldn’t have flown.12hrs of nothing for $10k. Give me a canoe and I’ll paddle myself.I am a frequent flyer. Show details

Cheap as chips flight Sydney Kunming Shanghai Sydney $612 RTN first time I've flown with this carrier ,look you get what you get food very ordinary eat well before you get on the plane and don't expect to get many alcoholic beverages they limit what they give you but check in easy staff ok so just an average experience if you are just after a cheap flight and don't expect much this airline is for you . Show details

Perfect service from speaking to there team in Brisbane to sitting on the plane

Booking process through qantas frequent flyers but rang China Eastern for my seats they were so helpful and organised the best seats for a solo traveler.My flight Was very long Melbourne - Toronto via 6 hr wait in Shanghai but the service was amazing.If I had to complain about anything it’s the entertainment but this never bothered me as I always download series and movies on to my I pad before I depart. Show details

Please note, I flew with CHINA EASTERN from Sydney to China and China to Sydney 3 months ago. They damaged my bagage and refused to compensate me for the damage caused.
