I wish I could rate it negative 5 – Within hours my old cat was given 1/2 tablet, he was not able to move - experienced symptoms of ataxia. We took him to our vet and numerous tests were done but all came negative. He was put on steroids and initially improved but never fully recovered and died within a few months. Had I known what I have learnt since, I would have never given… Read more

Comfortis to him of course. I would have not taken him to the vet either and instead I should have applied chemical detox drops about which I only found out when it was too late.

Killed my cat not the fleas – This is a highly poisonous product, was given by the vet to use on both of my cats, one of which vomited immediately, the other was unable to breathe 3 hours later and passed away. Now one is left without his friend forever. Show details

Makes cats sick – Makes cats sick. They vomit every time. Sometimes within an hour, sometimes later. But every time. Cats hate it. They do not chew it like a snack. Not worth high cost. Ineffective. Company is indifferent to concerns. Took a lot of information, but refuses to do anything. Thus, wasting my time as well. Show details

A Game Changer – I read a lot of reviews and researched this product for hours. I was worried about the side effects and the horror stories of people losing their pets after taking a single dose. I have two Siamese cats, one is two years old, agile, powerful and weighing in at 12 lbs., the other guy is 9 months and easer to control, he weighs 7 pounds. The little… Read more

guy contacted fleas at the vet during his neutering and eventually I had a full infestation in my house. I tried a number of products, advantage drops, flea collars, Adams cat flea spray, Raid Carpet/Upholstery spray, Ortho Flea indoor home spray. I bombed my house and used other products including home remedies. I watched a couple of videos on how to give your cat a pill and it took me about 20 seconds to administer, even the big guy made it easy for me. There were absolutely no side effects, I guess I got lucky. I flea combed both cats 4 hours later and found several dead fleas under their fur and a few in plane sight. I found throughout the next several days one or two dead fleas on the cats and the areas where they hang out and sleep. I found no living fleas and eventually no dead fleas in my house. I continued to treat the house emphasizing on getting rid of flea eggs and the other stages of the flea cycle. The bottom line is that for my cats this product worked as advertised and my cats handled the drug well. I won the war!

Too poisonous for my cat – We gave our cat comfortis, never again. She was really lethargic for 2 days and her fur was dull straight away and still is. She also has been acting weird since, I almost think it's affected her brain... It's been a week and she still has fleas... Show details

DO NOT USE EVER – My 1 year old 24lb cat and my 8 month old 10lb kitten both were administered one tablet each by my husband and I, my oldest immediately started to swell up in his whole face. It was swollen by day 2 like he had been stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction about the size of a cantelope. Considering his weight should have been double the dose I… Read more

gave him according to the package I am glad I wanted to try one for now & see if it works fine and I'm sure if I would have givin the correct dose he wouldn't be alive. Less then a week later his neck looked like he had been attacked by a huge dog (he hadn't been attacked by anything) it had spread from his face down to his torso. It was a 6in by 3in bloody & raw, deep gash. As he couldnt stop scratching it , the fleas would have been way less of a problem from the beginning to have dealt with myself. Now a month later along with a lot of bandaging and benedril to not only stop his itching but to sedate him in order to keep him from injuring his self even more, he finally had his hair grown back and I just now thought to read reviews before trying one more time but NEVER will I EVER give them this lethal and obviously dangerous "medication" again. I will bathe them everyday and use a flea comb likeni initially did with my husband taking turns every night if that means I can keep them from going though the horrific nightmare we have all gone through these past 4 weeks ever again. And yes little man was perfectly fine but just because it wasn't showing on his skin I'm well aware of the damage it could have done to his insides and I dont care if it did nothing this one time after seeing these horrendous reviews and the hours I've spent keeping kitty Cobain (the older cat) basically wrapped up like it's winter with literal baby clothes to keep his bandages on in this florida heat I'm sure over a long period of time something horrible would have happened to Mink too. Please find other means of insecticides to relieve your pets itching this will only make your problems escalate far beyond necisary in order to keep flealess pets.

Avoid at all costs – Within 30 minutes of giving our cat half a Comfortis tablet she was running round the house, unable to breath, her eyes were starring and she kept falling over. Flea free finally! – My three cats and my house had a heavy flea infestation after the recent weird Melbourne weather, they exploded everywhere, gross! We'd been using revolution and I've always found it hard to spot-dose correctly so the poor cats were probably missing out. They were stressed and sick with flea problems 10 days after their last revolution dose. I… Read more ·  1

asked the vet and used Comfortis. I made sure they had a full meal with the tablet crushed in it and they chowed it down. After about an hour a 3 hour long, 3 cat grooming frenzy beganbaa the fleas started dying, but there was no vomiting or any other distress shown by the cats. The next day I flea bombed the house too using a Raid bomb and washed all their bedding, and mine! I noticed that evening that where the cats had been sleeping stayed clean, no flea dirt scratched out, just a few dead fleas. Three days later the cats are flea free, relaxed as only cats can be, shiny coats and appetites are back. It's been truly great and being aware we've had that infestation I'm keeping an eye out because I know sometimes it takes a a few cycles to really break the flea cycles but so far the house is clear of them and so are the cats. Just for reference the cats weigh 2.8kg, 3.3kg and 3.8kg respectively and they each had a full tablet.

Dangerous product – Our two year old Border Collie had a seizure the day after taking his first and last oral flea product known as Comfortis...he remained epileptic for about 4 years and now hasnt had a seizure for nearly 2 years, we put him on a raw food diet with golden paste and he has had acupuncture...we believe this might have saved him.

FANTASTIC FOR MY KELPIE – Worked a treat on my dogs fleas, the fell right off him within the first hour after taking it. No side effects. My kelpie loves is and eats the chew right out of my hand (he isn't easy to trick with tablets normally either). Would recommend.

My cat is TERRIBLY sick! – I got this from my vet for both of my cats a few days ago. My 4-year-old, female, 10-lb. cat seems fine. However, I gave the dosage directed for my 14-year-old, female, 10 lb. cat, and things have turned out very badly. up or down from the places she normally lays. While walking, she struggles to not fall over. She is still eating and drinking. When I took her to the litter box last night, she used it, but then stayed there and slept in the litter box all night. I think she knows she cannot control her bladder, because cats are so intuitive and clean when it comes to toilet habits. I don't really know what to do, and I am praying this does not get worse. I feel TERRIBLE that I did not research this before giving it to her, as there are SO MANY warnings here from other cat owners. Don't use this product!

Did exactly what it stated it would – I have a 9 month old Sibirian Husky and i have tried multipul different drops for fleas on my fur baby and it just didn't work! he started figgiting a bit then with in the next few hours dead fleas just dropped off of him! Heaps of them! the next morning we woke up and inspected him really well and couldn't find any except for the tonne on the bed where he slept. Its been a week and and there are still a small few of them around in the carpet but once they land on him they are found dead shortly after. Im very happy with the outcome, the packet warns that occationally it can cause vomiting in the forst couple of days but we never had that problem. I suggest if you are looking for something that works and the drops don't, then try this stuff!

I was very skeptical of putting this into my dog's body especially after readinf some of these comments but Im not sure if they are legitament and if so they may have just been unlucky.

him within hours of his first dose. Six months later with no follow up and he is still completely flea & itch free. As this product can have a bad interaction with other medications in a small percentage of animals it's worth doing the research first to be sure your pet will not be affected. It is also extremely important that Comfortis is taken with a full meal. All things considered I think Comfortis is definitely the best bang for your buck (Bravecto is apparently great too but is very very expensive). My research showed animals who react badly (although only a tiny percentage) are usually are due to incorrect dosing/application, a certain gene found in herding species which can be tested for before use or the result of other drug interactions. Best of luck.

As for the stories of sickness and death I have used this product a few times on my three cats and my my mum's dog all were fine never an issue.

My mate used it on his two dogs were fine so I'm not sure if the comments are legit or just trying to scare people.

Perhaps they like another brand won't to tarnish others not sure I've never had an issue nor the people who use it.

My cat vomits if she has it – My cat absolutely hates this stuff. I have even given 1/2 tablet with food and within 10 minutes she vomits. I phoned the company and they said to give it another attempt the next month and if she reacted the same they would refund my money. Well I have received no reply to my message on their answering machine.

Great for killing fleas but side effects very worrying – Gave my dog comfortis at 9 pm and by 2am extremely lethargic and her body was trembling. She held her head upwards and kept it in that position also she stretched her paws in the air and held them there as if she was playing statues. After a couple of hours the trembling stopped and also the strangely held limbs. Great for fleas but I won't risk it again.

The only effective flea treatment i've found – Last year my cats and dog were rampant with fleas, despite using Frontline, Advocate and a range of natural products and household flea bombs. potential side effects, they'e all been fine (the smaller cat does seem a little more sleepy but this soon wears off).

The only downside is how difficult it is to get the tablets into the cats crushed up in their food, given that they leave their dinners, swap dinners, and finally the dog will finish off any scraps if unsupervised. So he's definitely gets a full dosage at least!

It's for my bitza – It has worked for the 24 to 28 days for my dog each time. Has had no problems, weighed it so I used the right type for my foxyx which is orange. If you don't weigh the dog or cat it can cause problems I was told my vet. Capstar, front line, ect all seem to have no effects on fleas or bad reactions to my dog. Use the instructions on the boxes for all animals as the recommendations are there for a purpose, is safety of your pet.

Wanna kill your pet--then give it Comfortis – Three days after giving Comfortis, my dog lost all use of her limbs, her spine was completely paralyzed, her pupils dilated, she could hardly breathe, and by the time we reached the vet, her jaw was locked and she was fading fast. stupid me, I thought that the product worked so well and that the side effects were minor. I had no idea that it could get this bad, that I was poisoning my dog and Comfortis would eventually kill her. Perhaps healthy, young dogs can withstand the effects better. Perhaps there was something else going on inside my seemingly healthy 8 year old Boston Terrier that I was not aware of. Whatever happened, I can say that Comfortis killed my dog. All these warnings are on the label, except they left out the fact that this is a serious neuro-toxin and can also cause death following the symptoms. Here's what it says on the Comfortis website: For dogs: The most common adverse reaction reported is vomiting. Other adverse reactions reported in decreasing order of frequency are: depression/lethargy, decreased appetite, incoordination, diarrhea, itching, trembling, excessive salivation and seizures. Following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with Comfortis, some dogs have experienced the following clinical signs: trembling/twitching, salivation/drooling, seizures, ataxia, mydriasis, blindness and disorientation. They forgot to mention that these clinical signs can kill your pet.
