Cord Panorama

Worst electronic item I ever bought! – The product looks good but it is put together worst than a cheap toy! The buttons stopped working after a few month so the only way to operate it was through the remote control. For no particular reason it stops working with a cross appearing on the little screen and you have to turn it on & off to get it going again. And sometimes it does not… Read more
respond to turning on & off so the only way I have discovered is to unplug it all together and wait a few seconds and plug it back in. You may have to do this a number of times before it gets going, Overall a big waste of money. Digital by name and rubbish by nature, no wonder they have discontinued it!
Help needed – I have my second one as the first one died , my current one is now faulty. When turning on the volume control is not working properly. Is there someone who repairs these things. Cheers
Great to start with, then – I was very pleased with the quality of the sound of my radio for the first 10 months or so. Then it started dropping off the home network for no apparent reason and the sound started to become very distorted. It would eventually clear but now there is continuous distortion- impossible to hear. I took the radio and a video recording of the sound to… Read more
my retailer and was told, "Yes its obviously malfunctioning. We can send it back and have it repaired at your cost. No warranty unfortunately as it 34 days over." I will try to contact the manufacturer to resolve the issue but won't hold my breath. My advice- Don't buy this model.
Excellent. A fantastic radio – Great performance and sound. Good internet radio with a great app for programming. Had a minor issue which was resolved under warranty within 30 minutes no questions asked. Purchase has not disappointed. Looks great in the retro finish. Performance is exactly as detailed in advertising. JBHIFI great place to purchase. Show details
Alot of bang for your buck – From its old style look with a woodgrain looking finish this radio is very surprising from the moment you turn it on and select from the digital display what options you want to play around with to the deceptively loud speaker. Those speakers will pump out the tunes you want to hear from the internet stations to your phone via Bluetooth, Aux connection and 3mm din. This thing is great. Shame that they don't produce it any more. Show details
Overall a good radio – Brought a refurbished unit but looks and works like new. The finish of this radio is quality, has a nice feel to the controls and buttons. It really looks the part in my kitchen. Having a full function remote is a real bonus and one of the main reasons I brought it. Has great sound for it's size and voice and vocals very clear. It is easy to… Read more
set up with an intuitive menu. Streams no problems and stable connection.
Have no DAB broadcast here so can't talk for that. However FM sensitivity could be better it receives all the local stations noise free but I do live in a prime signal area. An AM (MW) band would of been nice but most radio stations stream so not a biggie..
For me the only real set back with this Radio is it's 240 volts only. Even an external low voltage in put would of been good to have.
Initionally stated like a dream then turned into a nightmare – Loved this unit as it has a stylized look & was happy to pay for quality. Worked great for first few weeks then started to drop out continuously. Didn't matter what i did just keeps dropping out. Needing to buy another one now and won't be buying this one again. Easy Settings, Great Sound – Somehow the stars aligned me with the Cord Panorama, I had a Sony DAB radio that stopped working with like a month left on my 2 year Warranty. Went into JBHiFi and they said that Sony don't make that model but we'll give you the Cord for the value of the Sony. It was a very good deal considering the Cord was over $150 more. But the minute I… Read more
brought the new unit home, I was glad the other failed! I love DAB and all the internet options makes it pure bliss, you can save 10 channels on your remote on each DAB and Internet, ripper! I soon did a software update that fixed the artist and song info on very clear display. It is a very attractive looking unit. The Equaliser is quite good considering and I ditched the DRC and loudness settings, because they make good quality music sound too distorted. But in a nutshell I would highly recommend, the newer model has Bluetooth which is probably why JB was most likely offloading it to me in the first place! But hey, I'm not complaining.
Superb sound....Great internet radio – Just recently bought one of these - used - from eBay. I wanted a decent sounding internet radio for my home office. And I got even more. A superb sounding radio, internet or DAB. Easy to use, looks good, once logged onto my home wireless network (which takes about a minute) it is then lightening fast to navigate thru countries, and their… Read more
stations. The little 4" speaker sounds twice the size. This is a great product. Very pleased with it. Gave it 4 stars because there is no USB connection which I may find handy someday (the is an Aux in) which will work with most mobile/cell phones. But you have about 20,000 stations all over the planet at your fingertips and the sound is crystal clear. I'm going to get another one for my wife's office....
Re-starting – Had my Panorama for over 12 months but about to throw it at the wall. It keeps re-starting itself after so many minutes even when on a DAB radio station. Very disappointed. Crappiest birthday present ever :-( Have tried to factory reset and re-connect. Even that doesn't work. Would appreciate any tips.
Update (2 years post purchase) – I was umming and arrhhing over spending this much on a radio but im glad I did. The internet radio function is amazing. Seamlessly streams through wifi and you have the world at you hands...or should I say ears. Not only can you listen to practicality every radio station through the Internet but you also are able to listen to some podcasts. … Read more
Sound quality is excellent for a radio this size. The user interface makes easy to navigate around. My only complaint is the price but I listen to the radio every night and some people spend thousands on a good tv so a couple of hundred dollars for a great radio is worth it in my opinion.
UPDATE
2 years I have had no problems but I have purchased a bush internet radio for the kitchen (br320dabc) and this is much better. Colour LCD, menu's load quicker, Bluetooth and cheaper. The panorama radio does have a slightly better sound in my opinion.
Great Internet radio – I bought this back in January for around $150 at JB Hifi. I've had digital radios before but where we are situated in the Blue mountains, reception is iffy most of the time, so I thought I'd try an Internet radio. It was extremely easy to set up to wi fi and setting up stations via the internet very easy. Great beefy sound, but had to adjust the… Read more
equalizer to get it to my liking.
Has worked very well in the 6 months I have had it, but every now and the display loses the plot and the middle brightness goes to low and the low is unreadable. Easy to fix via a reboot but don't know why it happens.
Other than that problem, a five star radio in my opinion!
Great DAB and Network radio. Little pricey but well satisfied – I have had my unit since Christmas 2014 and it's been a real value add for my family. We dance with the kids to "pure gold 80's" via DAB (no ads) and as a techie I love that I can serve up FLAC loss-less audio from my PC using freely available UPnP software (music streamed over local network). Reliability: Great - it hasn't missed a beat. I… Read more
live in a sub-optimal DAB reception area so occasionally the broadcast is lost and some fiddling is required but any DAB radio would have this issue. The serving of music over my local network has been flawless and using WiFi instead of Bluetooth means I have much greater range over which to serve my music so we can easily take it outside.
Sound Quality: The DAB reception is as I would expect for my area. Since the unit uses WIFI (not Bluetooth) for network streams the signal arrives from my PC without loss. However the unit has just the one 7 watt speaker so obviously I'm not claiming it will make stereo lovers happy. With that said it has an analogue audio out that I plug into my stereo amp and I am extremely happy with that combination. Internet radio stations can be picked up directly by the unit and are great (as long as the original broadcast is decent).
Ease of Use: I am technically minded but I've found I can do all I want very easily with the unit. Once setup you just press a couple of buttons to switch from DAB radio to network streamed music or internet radio. I don't use the web feature which stores all your personalized internet radio stations as I have directly stored the small number I'm interested in.
Value: You get lots of features and the audio processing is very nice but lets be honest... DAB radios are getting cheaper and cheaper and so are WiFi modules. I think the unit should be sold in the $100 to $150 range rather than the over $200 I paid. If that were the case I'd give it 5 stars.
Improvements: I not going to say extra speaker because a small unit will never compete with a quality hifi system and I quite like the warm sound it natively produces, plus I have the option to feed the music to my stereo. A missed opportunity though is the lack of an F-Connector (some brands screw the removable antenna to this) so you cannot connect the unit to an external aerial.
A feature that would be great would be a USB host interface so that you can serve music from a USB storage device or output served media via a USB DAC and then into your hifi. Now that would be cool!
Happy listening.
Find out how Cord Panorama compares to other Digital Radios
Know better, choose better.
Excellent DAB+ radio + Music Server – Bought this over four years ago and still gets a daily workout from our kitchen bench. Didn't give the network feature much thought when I bought it but we probably listen to internet radio as much if not more that the excellent sounding digital channels. Also love the Music Player option so you can stream any or all music files on your network. … Read more
Can't say much FM as we don't use/listen, but would definitely recommend this unit. Simple rule of thumb: Would I buy another if it died - yes every day and twice on Sunday. Love it.
Good Unit – I have been using the Cord Panorama for several months. I bought it primarily for its internet radio as we are outside normal broadcast areas. In general I am very happy with this unit. It's sound and construction quality are good. Both the WiFi and wired ethernet connections work well. The only problem I have is caused by our satellite… Read more
internet connection. Most of the time the radio works OK on the sat', but when things get congested after about 6 pm, it is only possible to listen to local Australian stations (servers). Overseas servers are too slow to support the Panorama's buffer - which means program material is continuously interrupted while the buffer reloads from scratch.
I don't think this would be a problem with an adsl connection.
Two units tried, two units failed – Bought this cause it looked good and offered everything I wanted in a radio. Was very happy after setting up and connecting to internet radio but after a few weeks everything stopped working. Took it back and got a new one which stopped working after 2 weeks. Wont be getting a third
Solid winner – Sits in our kitchen and gets a daily workout. Never misses a beat, solid sound, good features, picked up online in Melbourne well under RRP.
Promises much but delivers little – This unit has a lot of features which is why I bought it. However, while relatively easy to set up its ongoing performance leaves a lot to be desired. Internet radio - the unit connects to my network every time, no problem there. But connecting to the internet stations is very hit and miss. Usually, the first time I try, it works. Second and… Read more
subsequent times, it just sits there with "Connecting..." and doesn't do anything. If you foolishly press a button on the front or remote, the unit will freeze for a couple of minutes and allow you to do nothing. Subsequent attempts to connect to an internet radio station will fail unless you leave the unit alone for some time (this varies from 10 minutes to hours). Digital radio - I set these up in the kitchen/dining room of my house and they seemed fine with the antenna extended. Forget it if the antenna is down. However, on relocating to my bedroom which is where this device will live, the digital radio is virtually useless, no signal, no sound, even with the antenna fully extended. Moving the antenna around can make it pick up the current radio station you're tuned to, but if you change stations you need to move the antenna again, like it has a different position for each station. And of course when you physically move away from the unit, the sound usually stops. Unfortunately it doesn't have an external connector for and external antenna, so it can't be augmented. FM radio - this works better than all of them, but if I'd only wanted FM I'd have bought a $30 unit, not a $224 one. Sad but I'm going to take it back. Features None of them work very well (DAB, Internet).
Excellent – So refreshing to buy something that delivers so much. In an age when the novelty of your latest gadget wears off very quickly this unit is a real standout. I bought mine off eBay as "manufacturer refurbished" for a good deal less than they ask in the stores. Easy to use intuitive interface - largely driven by the two knobs on the front which… Read more
are multi-purpose - and have a nice quality feel to them. Wifi was extremely easy to set up.
Cabinet is nice and solid - certainly a cut above your average black plastic soon-to-be-landfill electronic gadget.
Sound is great too. This thing over-delivers in so many ways. Love it!
Good Sound – Can not fault this one....Easy to set up, good sound, nice look & feel with the retro finish. Would suit anyone. I have mine set up in the lounge - dining area. Wifi internet very easy to set up. Sound good. Volume & clarity is beefy enough. Haven't used the remote control much but it works well from a distance. Very happy with purchase. No regrets. Good sound. Nice unit
