Wow! - wasn't expecting this!!
Firstly, I use a PC - have high quality headphones, (fortunately), and want to play high quality music. I don't need sound for games.
My DAC died and I found I couldn't live with the PC onboard sound. Problem was I was looking at considerable expense to get anbother DAC - hence a Google search.
Found the SoundBlaster Play3 USB gizmo - $35 bucks ($Au) and read some surprisingly good reviews and thought 'What the heck - if it's a dud for $35 I can afford to toss it' - all I needed was something better than I was listening to.
Setup is plug in ...to USB - and download SB Sound Manager from Creative website. A couple of miutes all-up. Instantly blown away by the quality of sound it produces - use the pre-adjusted settings in the Sound Manager or create your own. (First, let me say if you want to get the most out of this gizmo you MUST download the SB Sound Manager - then turn off the microphone control if you don't need it).
