Ripper little Nipper – For the price what a great all round chlorinator. Two timers, auto reversing polarity, easy to install and program and made in Australia. Beats my old Poolrite hands down

Purchased in for $1,250.

Died within warranty period and replaced – Seems like they are unreliable. Which is a pity because when it's working it has great features and chlorinates well. The first one was replaced under warranty because it would forget all its settings/clock regularly and the shop tells me this is a common issue.

Great Looking Product - So Far So Good, but encouraging conversation with Tech Support – Installed a <Chinese made> 900W DC pump and Controller driven by 4 solar panels for my 30,000 ltr pool. Pump works great (two months now) but worried about Chrlorinator Cell and build up of potentially dangerous gasses should the pump fail (or too dark in the day due excessive cloud, etc.) while chlorinator still running connected to mains. Considered a number of external optics including building a dedicated circuit to shut down the chlorinator when the pump stopped, but then found this Davey unit with a mechanical flow switch. Bought and installed three days ago with littel hassle but the guy at my local pool shop rubbished the Davey units and especially the flow switch version.

So I called Davel's Australian office and they had their Qld technical service rep call me back. Great support, full of knowledge and advice on running this product - particularly asking about firmare revision level. When I told him the software level shown on system startup he was very happy as a number of shortcomings have been corrected. He said of the 'thousands' of these units sold he had had only a handful returned faulty and the majority had been predominantly user generated. Although he did advise not to shorten the flow switch paddle (has three lengths it can be cut/adjusted to).

Anyway so far it seems like a great product and much of an improvement with my older non-self cleaning unit that I bought/installed two years back.

Purchased in for $1,040.

Good choice – My very old Clearwater C200 finally died so I was immediately forced into chlorinator investigations - lots available. Anyway, I bought a Davey for $960 6 mths ago and have been very happy. It very easily produces enough chlorine for my 56,000 litre pool. Navigation of the controls took a little time to master but they are fine "even for a senior"
