Excellent – I am no computer wiz but this laptop has been great for the past 3 years. The only problem I have with it is the battery, it only lasts for half an hour so I have the power plugged in all the time when I use it. One of the buttons has come loose on the keyboard, but it seems to be still working. It does what I need it to do which is internet, email, music and the burner has not let me down. Great to watch dvd's with and the speakers put out a good sound and loud. Has 4 USB ports which has come in handy for all my accessories. The memory card port has been put to good use and is great for easy and quick access to any memory card - I have used Sony Memory Stick Pro and SD and MD. Within the first year I needed one of the USB ports changed as I had damaged it and Dell had a technician out to my work the next day and expenses were covered from warranty so I was pleased at their customer service. Overall I am very happy with this laptop for my personal use. Keyboard is easy to type with, in built wi-fi, Dell's customer service support, media software is easily accessable, a user friendly laptop. Short battery life(I am finding the battery only lasts for half an hour) one of the keys has come loose.

Good – I have had this laptop for two years now and I bought it with two batteries and when new they will give you well over three hours use, now I am down to 1.5 hours before it needs a charge. Good value and a reliable machine. I use it daily and it hasn't missed a beat. I am currently righting this review on the dell inspiron 640m, the keyboard is nice and responsive and there is not problems like hitting adjacent keys when it type. The high resolution wide screen is very crisp and clear, the 100GB hard disk is fast and responsive. the main thing that bothers me when using this laptop is that the base tends to get a bit warm so not very comfortable resting it on your lap for a long time.

Good – I got mine with a 5400RPM 80 gigabyte hard drive from Dell when I bought it and after a while I decided to upgrade to the 120 gigabyte 7200RPM drive. This made a huge difference in performance. The screen I ordered with it was too high of a resolution and it is hard to read the text on it. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with it over all. The 9cell battery gives 4 to 5 hours surfing the internet, very happy with that. My new notebook doesn't even get 2 hours on its battery life. Long battery life with 9cell battery. Light weight. Good keyboard. Easy access media buttons. Vibrant screen I bought one with the higher resolution screen, it's hard to read the text. 5400 rpm hard drive slows down the system a lot
