Not a life long partner, but OK for price – Had this laptop for almost 3 years but Keyboard has started having problems despite the fact that it has been in Docking station most of the time and not used it's keyboard much. Battery life has reduced to 1 hour in this period. Laptop comes with what I say wrong default BIOS settings where HDD is on RAID mode and changing that will need reinstalling the OS Light weight and functional Low quality parts like Keyboard and body
Very solid and sleek PC! – Used this laptop for 2 years as company supplied for work. Go everywhere with me. Unlike latest model, E6420, this previous generation model is very solid and good in design. Typing is easy with good keyboard. Performance is not far from work expectation. This is a laptop I like to take with me when I leave company. Screen could be a… Read more
bit dark but suit for office use.
One small problem is that panel near hinge is bit loose but hard to notice.
Satisfied. Design, reliability Small gap near hinge but it is not a problem.Gets hot near palm rest.
Great professional laptop – I got a Dell Latitude E6400 about 2 years ago through my work, and I am very happy with this laptop. It is lightweight, compact, and doesn't cause any trouble! Only problem is that the battery only lasts for a bit more than an hour after using it for 2 years, but I guess you get that with any laptop these days... I can highly recommend this laptop! Reliable, lightweight, compact, lighted keyboard Battery only lasts for 1 hour after 2 years
Portable laptop for work – I've been using the laptop at work for over a year now... Seems fast enough to handle daily work... Light weight, easy to carry around... havnt tried heavy duty games but i doubt it can support though.. but definitely worth it for daily work... light, affordable small screen
Dell Latitude D800 – I used to used a Dell Latitude D800 for everyday office work; word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc. Never had any problems running the software or the OS, which I think was Windows XP Pro, even though the processor was only a 1.8GHz mobile Celeron. The keyboard was reasonable, but - along with the screen - could have been a bit bigger.… Read more
The screen was bright enough but did suffer from reflections quite badly, and the resolution was quite low at only 1200 x 800.
The main problem I had was the inherent weakness in the plastic body of the laptop, which causes the power button to malfunction. In other words, you needed to press down quite hard on the right hand end of the case to get the laptop to power up. Light weight, reasonably quick performer, cheap buy second hand. Plastic case is not very strong, keyboard and screen are a bit cramped.
Good – Great laptop. Good lightwieght, nice keyboard, I recommend this computer, it was a good purchase. The case is easy to keep clean and does not over heat when left on. The speakers are not that great but given there small size they are better than most. The CD and data speed for transfers is also reaaly quick and another good point about this… Read more
laptop. Small case, nice clear crisp screen, good battery life with a quick recharge, nice keyboard with good quick keys - broad key tops for fat fingers, two mice, lots of inputs. Sometimes a bit slow but maybe I have too many programs.
Good – Very happy with this overall, I actually bought a second hand one from work to use on the train for Uni assignments, web surfing, etc, but I'm actually thinking of getting another one to use as a main home laptop. Great size - easy to use on the train. Starts up, shuts down and hibernates really quickly (far quicker than my Dell Inspiron) The… Read more
internal speaker is tiny and tinny. Headphones or external speakers are a must. Also, the headphone jack is at the back of the laptop, not very convenient if you have short leads on your headphones. External DVD isn't great, but that's the price you pay for the convenient size.
Good – (model:Dell Latitude D410) with all the current netbooks out for $400+ which the only advantage i can see they have are increased HDD. The D410 is a small nippy 12" laptop for around $250 off ebay, it has around 4 hours battery life on the standard 53whr battery on power save and is still fully usable surfing the web, typing up documents or… Read more
listening to music without really reducing that time. its docking station compared to other dell ultra-portables ive had is a little chunky for the limited features it has compared to the X300's base station. however if you dont like unplugging everything from your laptop when you leave and having to plug everything in again when you get home the base station is great with VGA,parallel,serial,PS/2,2xUSB,Ethernet,phone and the built in DVD drive which is hot swappable with other dell HDD/Optical/battery units. the specs of this particular model have 1Gb of DDR2 ram, a 1.73Ghz pentium M CPU, 40gb 5400rpm HDD (which is slower but uses far less power for an IDE drive), 12" XGA lcd screen, and integrated wi-fi A/G. on the go this machine is FANTASTIC i personally have a small wireless internet dongle i take with me everywhere and this laptop is great for taking advantage of it due to its massive battery time. another massive thing that (grrr i really hate atom netbooks) makes this ultra-portable so much better then the sad netbooks out right now besides its price and obvious better build quality, is that in a normal netbook in this day and age you get an intel ATOM 1.6ish Ghz CPU, what the netbook manufacturers fail to mention is that the ATOM simply put does NOT go well with windows applications due to there core architecture (dont believe me, google "intel atom architecture problems" yourself) but in all. i really like this ultra-portable for its price/looks/portability and performance, great old alternative to many netbooks out right now. Lightweight
Fast enough for business/school use
base station has room for a second battery
Damn good battery life
small and fits nearly anywhere you want it to go smaller hard drive (40Gb model)
chunky external base
lowsy single internal speaker
Good – Great lightweight, solid, business laptop. Specs on this one are 160gb HDD, 4GB RAM, NVS135 graphics. Handles multiple VM images running on XP, 3d games to a reasonable (not best graphics) level. Audio capability is OK, but having headphones/speakers plugged through audio jack seems to be low quality. Also has 3G capability built in, but remains… Read more
untried. Latitude D630:
Battery life up to 3hrs
Cool under normal running
High Res Screen (Maybe an upgrade option on certain models)
Build quality feels 'solid'. Hot when using 3d extensively
Touchpad software from Dell doesn't support 'tap zones' without installing 3rd party driver
Software based volume buttons (prefer analogue dial)
Good – Bought this as an upgrade to the D600. I was very happy with the D600 and thought the D630 would be better. Machine runs well - very fast and very reliable [have had it for ~12 months and it's not missed a beat]. Battery life is brilliant, but I believe there are other machines on the market that can give you 6 hrs + on a full battery. Ordering… Read more
over the internet was a breeze even when requesting upgrades. I've used it to play DVDs on trains etc [+ do plenty of work] and find it probably a little to heavy for me to be 100% satisfied. [I use a portable DVD player, and am thinking of getting a micro laptop].
5 out of 5 for reliability
5 out of 5 for ordering service
4 out of 5 for weight
3 out of 5 for 'spunky' features. Bullet Proof Machine; long battery life; reliable; wifi and great keyboard layout no built in 'sexy' stuff like surround sound or card reader or web cam; not really a problem as this can be added for a small fee. Cost... somewhat pricy but a bit like Toyotas... no frills but reliable machine. A bit too Weighty.
