Dewalt 18v XR Brushless DCM565M1-XE
MPN: DCM565M1-XE3 reviews
DeWalt 18v 30cm chainsaw – Had some problems with the chainsaw but totaltools sorted it out. After shopping around elsewhere the price for the 18v DeWalt chainsaw is hard to beat.
Purchased in for $299.
Works Like a Mini Boss – Perfect for small to medium tasks. This battery powered chain saw curently sells for around $320 (not $120) and is powered by DeWalts 18v or 54v batteries (it's cordless). It is light, easy to handle, has chain brake and two step trigger for safety. The best part, it is quiet, there are no fumes, no mixing fuel, no heading to the servo, and no motor maintenance, just the chain. The chain brake needs to be cocked to run and the battery contacts need to be kept clean.
The chain oil leaks, which is annoying, so I put a rag underneath to soak up the leaks. The chain has come off a few times during use, but its easy enough to reposition and adjust with the tool less tension adjuster.
For what it offers it is a very convenient tool - good for cutting small logs/branches, timber beams etc. Chain speed, while not fast, is fast enough to get the job done. A carbon tipped chain would be good for demolition work.
Purchased in at Total Tools NSW, Bankstown for $300.
A very good electric chainsaw – I purchased this Dewalt electric chainsaw about 6 months ago and it is the smaller of the electric chainsaw siblings that DeWalt produce for the Australian market. In the last 10 years the technical advancement in electric outdoor power tools has come a long way..especially with chainsaws, brush cutters and blowers, so if people believe that today in 2021 an electric chainsaw can not match the performance of a petrol chainsaw with a similar bar length of 300mm..there is evidence shown on YouTube that may make you think otherwise. The bar length of 300mm or 12in would seem a bit small, but for general around the home/property landscape maintenance, tree pruning, small diameter cross cutting and small tree felling..this chainsaw is adequate. I was dismantling an old timber deck to be replaced and the hardwood timber joists were no match for this little chainsaw..with a chain speed of 7.68m/s..this chainsaw can seriously perform. An achilles heal of 12v electric power tools previously has been their "run time", the performance of the batteries and their capability to "last" for lengths of time. This is where the technology with 12v electric power tools has advanced considerably and with this chainsaw, this is no exception, I was getting with a 4Ah battery a good 30 minutes run time. Whilst I was dismantling the hardwood decking, I completed 90 full cuts before I had to change the battery. An old hibiscus tree that I had been threatening to severely cut back for some time and with some planning was no obstacle for this chainsaw. Vibration when using petrol chainsaws can be an issue after extended time for the operator, electric chainsaws minimise this problem, plus have the added bonus of having lower noise and variable speed operation This chainsaw has the complete array of safety features, chain break and such..plus the added design feature of the operator engaging a "on switch" next to the trigger handle before the chainsaw can bee operational. This chainsaw even with its' small bar length and size still has to be respected as much as one would when operating the petrol equivalent when it comes to operational safety. It is true to say that 12v electric chainsaws have improved significantly and this DeWalt chainsaw, regardless of its size is a perfect example...a very good 12v electric chainsaw.
