I have just purchased the DJI Neo Drone for capturing photos and Videos of a holiday I plan to take to Darwin. I looked around for a sports camera for some photos but it seemed that all I need was a mobile phone for similar pictures. My son said why don't you look at a Drone it will give you a new perspective on video. He said this Drone is entry level. I looked at all the videos on youtube and I was hooked. I purchased it form JB HiFi as I looked at some on line stores but found that they are all the same price. They must all purchased it from the same place in China. When I went into store the sales man showed me the package for $500 I said have a look at your online page it sells for $457 Harvey Norman was the same price. It takes a bit of getting use to but it is like my cat it looks at me and follows me around. I bought the controller for that price and the 2 more batteries. It takes a bit of setting up as you have to upload firmware to the drone as well but its super reactive picture and Video is clear now its just a matter of getting use to flying it. you have to look at the Youtube videos but there are some draw backs for advance users ( which I am not ). it has no collision avoidence so it can bump into things if your not carefull. don't fly it over water as it has sencers underneath that judges horizon and distance from the ground and water confuses it. having said that it is a great biggeners Drone.

Follow-up  · I love my Drone however I have had issues with it and not what you think. The Drone has three Batteries included with a special charger that plugs into a USB to powerpoint. The setup process is a bit slow. The batteries last about 14minutes give or take. The problem is when you fly it up high on a cloudy day you cant see it in the sky. If you look at the screen its hard to see because it reflects the sun on your phone. if you wear glasses that are polarised then the screen on your phone is nearly impossible to see. The biggest problem is that I took it to centre of Australia and there is allot of sacred sites that the Drone refuses to fly over as it has built in GPS no fly zones and in some cases it refused to take off. It will not fly 5 kilm from an airport of any kind. If you ask the tour guided permission to fly the Drone they look at you like you threatend their family and in one case in the northern territory I was give a 5 minute speech by a young female tour guided why drones are not acceptable. At Darwin beach while filming the sunset beach I Was accosted by a person who slammed my Drone down from the air in full view of hundred tourist and told in so many words I was breaking the law. So its difficult to take the drone on Holidays.

Follow-up  · The Drone is very easy to carry around all you need is a small carry bag with a strap. you can store the battery charger in a separate compartment and the console to plug your phone in elsewhere. The controller feels a bit bulky and difficult to put your phone into and the little joy stick screw on feels a bit precarious to screw on and not drop but it is manageable. Battery life lasts for about 13minutes flying time. The things I don't like is everybody hates Drones and everywhere you go they have a negative about them. It has a built in GPS and in the centre of Australia there are sacred aboriginal sites that you cant fly over or near and it refuses to take off in restricted zones such as 5KM from any airport big or small. Its a pain to download the Videos as the only app my computer works with is Whatsapp. It doesnt recognise any other apps to download with.

Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi for $455.

Really, really good value, and super simple to use – Amazing value. Fly it completely on its own (no controller, just your voice or a preselect button). very stable even in moderate wind, super easy to control, only needs a mobile phone to operate, stuff it in your pocket to carry it. For a first drone, astonishing value. Downsides? Only about 15 mins flight time, and it can crash into trees and such as it doesn't have hazard avoid or return to home - but it is pretty tough with built-in propeller guards so it should survive.

Purchased at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores.
