its so bad - how can Dometic exist anymore? The 240V heating element died within a year and no warranty. Started looking for the parts and read so many complaints about the heating element - there is something wrong and Dometic need to address this and replace the cause. Will go out of my way to tell others never again....

Great in average heat conditions, poor if hot or humid – Dometic RM2350 (non compressor unit) fitted as purchased in a caravan. 3 way Gas (LPG, 12V/240V) An acceptable fridge unless (as in our summer conditions in WA 36 - 45 C isn't unusual) temperatures reach above 34 Degrees C outside or it is humid (even at lower temps). Pro's: Works well if ambient temps are low 30's max or humidity is not high (fridge) and freezer is okay, but struggles on high temps (unless soft ice cream isn't an issue), very quiet unit, storage shelves are well spaced out. Self service parts (seals, freezer hinges etc) easily available and how to videos available on line. Trusted brand name, various sizes available. Con's: No indicator light on front to suggest if unit actually has power on 12/240V, terrible on hot (34 deg + days or humid) with cooling fridge temps average only, cooling fins on top shelf ice up (air circulation is poor), replacement price (versus a portable fridge/freeze as a supplement) is high. Mods: Apparently fitting a fan unit on internal cooling fins makes a difference (but you lose storage space), and supposedly running it on LPG is more efficient. Notes: I decided to keep the RM2350 installed. But in summer use the fridge only for items that need to be cool and won't poison me (such as veges, salads, eggs etc). Cold meats, reheatable meals (not frozen) and so forth - no way. Freezer is actually not bad for a day or 2 of heat/humidity for fully frozen foods but icecream normally comes out fairly soft - not melted but soft. Update: Bought a reputable brand fridge/freezer combo (2 in 1) albeit a portable unit which we can transfer from van to vehicle easily, 12/240V, and works a treat to supplement the Dometic RM unit when it struggles. Not having LPG on the combo is not an issue as Batteries, Invertors, Solar power etc have come along way since 3 way power was required (I know of no-one who uses LPG for their fridges, except for the occasional off grid campers). If I was to replace the Dometic unit I would be getting a compressor driven, non LPG unit - and possibly NOT a Dometic.
