Dorf Avanti
1 review
Great if your well off – Came with a house I bought had a slight leak. Dorf Service line was great, got to speak to a real person quickly, who told me the part number(was not visible on the site though). A new tap is $119 and the part (ceramic cartridge) was $52. The plumbing supplies people said it was the lowest price thing they had ever ordered from Dorf. Part came three weeks later (after a few phone calls to Dorf). There is an online movie on Youtube about how to do the replace job. So, the alan key they supplied did not manage to dislodge the grub screw, so I got it out with an easyout, Then the last owner had super glued the top of the tap onto the old cartridge, so I broke the top off the old cartridge to get at it, got the super glued bit out, put the new cartridge in, plenty of waterproof lubricant round the bottom seals (they don't tell you that bit), found a Philips head screw to replace the alan key grub screw, re assembled, working fine now, not sure how long these cartridges last for though. Imagine what it would have cost if a plumber had to come and do that. Probably took about an hour and a half.
Four years later, still working perfectly as new. Also, I am sure if it ever needs another cartridge that I can change it in about 10 minutes having replaced the Allen key grub screw with a decent Philips head screw. Works ok. I could actually "talk" to Dorf service and get a new part, a plus these days. Alans keys for parts that gum up and jam are not good. Three weeks to get the expensive part..?
