Dualit Architect Kettle

I’d expect for the cost of my kettle it should have been constructed of pure gold - lasted 3 years then stopped working …..pretty much told to go away by dualit. Clearly their claims of high quality are just smoke and mirrors. My $5 Kmart kettle lasted longer …
Purchased in at Almay for $400.
Stylish, great pouring but gets too hot – Looks bold and stylish and matches the Dualit Architect Toaster. Two cups of water will take about 1'25'' to come to the boil so not a particularly quick as compared to others in the market. The highlights are 1. Inside the kettle, the element that makes the water boil is not exposed at all, as it enlosed within the circumference at the bottom of the kettle, so cleaning the inside is easy.
2. The best part for me is the drip free pourer, which is designed in such a way that you can get the thinnest stream of water pouring out if you so desire to make the perfect cup of tea. I am so very impressed on how controlled you can pour out the water - with absolutely no drips. Really well done there and this is the highlight of the kettle.
The issues with the kettle:
1. It may be a little heavy for some people.
2. It is well and truely overpriced - especially here in Australia where, the only Australian retail outlet from which it can be purchased so far as I am aware, is Myer.
3. it is very difficult to see how much water is in the kettle as the water level indicator is located behind the handle, housed in a plastic that is not particularly clear. It has no floaty, and even with the kettle on and the water level indicator luminesced in a blue light, seeing the water level is painfully hard and inconvenient.
4. The outside metal casing and lid get HOT. i mean scaldingly hot as if you had just taken an old style kettle off the stove top. And this is unacceptable. We have already had someone burn the back of their hand quite nastily when they inadvertently brushed against it. Clearly there is no insulation from the inside of the kettle to the outside casing and this would be reason enough for me to find an alternative to this kettle.
I would expect an engineering enterprise such as Dualit would have factored in for this insulation, and it is most disappointing this aspect has been overlooked. Drip free and controlled pouring Outside gets scaldingly hot. Very poor water level indicator
