Nasty chemical smell – Thinking that this is good for the environment I bought it from Coles. Unfortunately the washed clothes have a nasty chemical smell. So much for Earth Choice. Didn't overuse the detergent as used auto dose machine. This is will be taken to EPA Chemical Cleanout. Waste of money. Show details

Only use this! – So great that this is Australian Made & Owned - the only brand I would use, clothes clean and smell so amazingl! You really need to look for them in the supermarket as they are generally not on the middle shelf but I like that they will not pay for shelf space with supermarkets - let the product speak for itself. Show details

Cleans well, brightens whites and no powerful smell – I actually love this and prefer it over Radiant liquid and Omo powder which I find too strong in smell- can’t stand it. I’m also a cloth nappy user for the littlies and use this for their nappies as well- using the Clean Cloth Nappies routine and nappies come out very clean, nice clean smelling with no aroma- and the white inserts come out… Read more

surprisingly very white. Yes powder is a bit fine, but I use the scoop to scoop it and pour it gently into the compartment- no issues here.

Great – I have to agree with previous reviews it's a dusty powder. Saying that I love this powder it's really good gets rid of odour from sweaty musty clothes and cleans them well. Re train your brain because fresh and clean should smell like nothing at all. Show details

will continue to use – I use Earth Choice powder & liquid in a front load machine, the results are always excellent on light cotton clothes to heavy work clothes. When I buy the powder, I transfer it to a snap lock lid container. I don't have issues with damp powder in a cardboard box, or with any fine smokey residue as I scoop it out but I do it gently. The powder… Read more

mixes well, I don't dissolve it first in colder months & there has been no powder left in the machine or clothes, unlike a well known brand of powder I previously used, as it was a freebie with the machine. 6kg of it went in the bin. The only issue I have with Earth Choice is that it's difficult to get a 4kg bucket of powder where I live.

Will never buy again – Quite like their liquid so thought I would try their powder. Will never get it again. My first warning should have been the fact that much of the powder escaped the box and was left on the shop checkout conveyor - it is just so finely ground. The plume of "smoke" that errupts whenever you disturb the storage container or pour the powder into the… Read more

machine is massive and gets into your eyes, nose and mouth. And no matter how earth friendly it is, I don't believe it's human friendly.

Also for such finely ground powder it sure does leave a lot of residue on clothes - it doesn't seem to dissolve very well.

Avoid – I use all cruelty free and grey water products, I recently switched to this product and have regretted it since. It makes colour run, doesn’t dissolve properly and when scooping it creates a dust cloud that takes my breath away. Will use it up and try another product. Sorry earth choice but you need to work on this product.

Recommended quantity – I use Earth Choice Laundry Liquid for Front & Top Loader Washing Machines in my Front End Loader. I find the recommended 50 ml of Product per Hot or Cold wash for both Top & FL, may be the answer to build up of suds??? By trial and error I find that using less than the recommended quantity for my FL not only cleans but reduces the build up of… Read more

March 20th 2017 Update: Follow up to my Review

Contacted Natures Organics re the recommended quantity used and received the following reply which I found a bit 'weird' re the 'universally-agreed recommendations'. (no mention of this product being discontinued, I have purchased as recently as Feb. 2017).

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I am pleased that you are able to use less of our Laundry Liquid in order to achieve a quality wash.

Some history of laundry products: There are universally-agreed recommendations for laundry products, e.g. for powders, liquid concentrates and liquid non-concentrates, for front and top loaders and for different levels of soiling - which is now compounded by the introduction of high efficiency machines into the equation.

We tend to print the universal recommendations on our labels in order to provide a fair comparison with other brands - and the number of washes per bottle for some products. If we stated less, we would no doubt receive complaints that we are misrepresenting the cost of the product because some machines do in fact need more! However, like you, many of our customers have discovered that our product works fine by using less - especially in front loaders. Of course this is better for the machine, the clothes, the environment (especially if using grey water) ... and also the all-important household budget.

Thank you for your feedback: I am very pleased that you are able to use less.

Kind regards

Zrenrah

Great perfomance - Bad Value – I like the product and have used regular Earth Choice Laundry Liquid before but recently got caught out with the Ultra Concentrated 4L bottle (bottle is great idea as you just push button no need to keep undoing lid and lifting heavy bottle), however I did the maths and here it is 4 X 1L bottles regular for approx $10.56 = 133 loads @ 30ml… Read more

(7.9c/load)

or

1 X 4L ultra concentrated for $19.53 = 80loads @ 50ml (24.5c/load)

I know from now on I will stick with the regular 1L bottle and save myself a packet.

Love this product, No issues like previous reviews – My family have been using this product for a long time. I have not had any issues such as as previous reviewers describe. Before this detergent I was using one from the "big brands". Since the switch, we have noticed no difference, if anything our clothes are lasting longer too. You only need a small amount per wash load so 1kg usually last us a couple of months.

Ruined dark clothes – I usually wash with a liquid, but decided to buy this product based on price and its environmental branding I guess. (I mean, there's a picture of planet Earth in the logo—that has to be a good thing right?!) Anyway, the end result is that I ruined a load of dark coloured clothes. Black t-shirts now have splotchy discolouration (as though… Read more

bleached unevenly) which, after several subsequent washes (using a different product) does not come out.

After I saw the damage I read a little warning on the side of the box which says:

'IN COLD WEATHER dissolve powder in warm water first or use luke warm wash'

I did not dissolve the powder. I didn't think you needed to. It was not particularly cold in my home when I washed, but I don't remember what temperature I washed at (most likely 30 degrees celsius, but possibly hotter).

So let that be a warning to others. I'm now slowly getting through the rest of this powder on light coloured washes only, and I'm dissolving the stuff before every wash. With everything else, it's back to liquid for me.

Goodbye, Napisan – I have been using this product in combination with the softner for a couple of years. I have hideously sensitive skin and also don't like the idea of using unnecessary chemicals. This is by far the best of the supermarket products that are kinder to the environment. In fact, it works better than all the chemical filled products, too. Being a new… Read more

mum, I mistakenly believed that only napisan would remove poo stains easily from my baby's clothes. I'd used it with poor results and needed to rewash my girls stained clothes anyway. It didn't remove the stains and also stripped colour, even though it says it won't. So, one night I was too tired to go and get the napisan and instead threw some earths choice laundry liquid on the stain. Left it for two minutes and washed it out in the shower. Completely removed the stains and left the colour intact. No scrubbing, just washed out. Too easy!

I love this stuff. I would recommend it to anyone.

Cheap and effective, great for sensitive skin – It's easy to refill for front loader washing machine because I just keep the container on its side, ontop of the machine and push on the dispenser, directly into the detergent slot. I'd imagine it to be difficult for top loader washers. My clothes come out fresh and clean after every wash. Lovely light scent. Doesn't irritate my skin. Cheap, vegan, cruelty free, Aussie made and owned, great for sensitive skin

This is great! – I have found this washing liquid to be very effective and lasts longer because it is concentrated! It washes the clothes very clean whites and coloured. Have also found it does not fade clothes and brings the whites up lovely and white. Would recommend it all my friends and family. Efficiency

Toxic! Avoid! – Incredibly chemical laden, literally takes your breath away because one sniff will burn your lungs out. Nasty, nasty, nasty stuff - I'm not overreacting, I don't have a sensitive nose, this stuff is seriously horrid. Even my big burly husband had to cover his face and pour the scoop furtively at arms length. Nicer eco wash powder options include… Read more

Give it a miss – I recall buying this product a couple of years ago but only used it once and couldn't remember why I never bought it again. After seeing those wonderfully effective guilt-inducing tv commercials (featuring people torturing ocean creatures with cleaning products), I decided to buy it again. And now I remember why I only used it once. As a washing… Read more

Terrible – I cannot use this product because the powder is just way too fine. The grain is just way too fine and causes a burning sensation in the nose. I could not wait to finish the product and will never buy it again. I do however use this brand's liquid version and find it to be effective. Good – I just switched from top load to front load so I had to shop for a new washing powder. I used some Earth Choice cleaning agents before especially the shower and toilet cleaner and totally love it. clothes just as well as when I used Cold Power top load, but I have to spare some credit to my front load too. The only downside to it is the smell of the powder could really burn, it's almost like I breathed in very strong chemical. I have to hold my breath every time I use it. But it's worth the money spent. I'm happy with this brand, the result and the price. Not as expensive as other brands Strong powderey smell that could burn your nose
