Epson XP-200

Dreadful business tactics – I have been been using cheaper ink cartridges rather than the very expensive Epson ones with no problems for years. Recently I had to do an update for the printer and after it was done it refused to use 99% full ones and forced me to buy Epson ones. This really is bad business tactics as I have thrown it out and created more waste when it was working fine. Next one won't be an Epson! Show details
Lots of issues over the years – Not recognizing ink cartridge . Occasionally printing unreadable pages , the driver update made things worse . Do not recommend Show details
Printer is unreliable – We have had this printer for several years, but replacing the ink is a total pain. To get the ink cartridge in/out you have to turn the printer on/off button and then pull the power cord out, otherwise it won't allow you to take out old cartridge or put new one in. It wouldn't print due to low ink for black. We purchased a brand new black ink… Read more
cartridge. We inserted it and it still showed low ink and wouldn't print. We followed trouble shooting guides of uninstalling printer from our iMac and reinstalling. Taking out cartridge and putting in again etc. None of these work.

Excellent little printer – I don’t understand what the 1 star reviewers are on about. Bought this printer a while ago and it has been sitting in the garage for a couple of years. Hooked it up to an old laptop (6 years old) and waited for the firmware updates to load. Followed all the instructions and the wireless setup worked perfectly first time. You do need to be patient… Read more
with the setup, it took about 90 minutes all up. Wireless printing worked perfectly. Print quality is ok, that’s what you get at this price point. For occasional printing, this printer is perfect and being wireless is very convenient.
THIS IS IDEAL FOR SCHOOL PROJECTS – Very happy with this printer, easy to do photo copies or print off black and white or coloured pictures. Best for small pictures on corner of page or small invitations. A3 pictures use a lot of ink that may make the colours vary slightly. Ink last me 6 - 8 months when using regularly. if not used often you may need to use cleaning program {inbuilt… Read more
in printer}. Have had printer for over 2 years and does its job well. Must use good quality ink for it to last and do good prints.
Negative need to use genuine ink product to do the job
Cheap reliable printer – Suitable for home use. I print about 100-150 pages a year. I dont use the wifi, I plug in. Print quality is good (for the price) I only use it for text documents but it does a reasonable job at images too. (Nothing like a high end printer, but good enough for me). I left the printer in storage for 6 months and the first print was poor, so i used… Read more
the automatic internal cleaning settings and it fixed itself in a couple of minutes. The ink still worked perfectly. When it runs out of black, it gives the option to combine the remaining colours to as close to black as possible, I think this must be a software update as I see other reviewers havent mentioned this. But I can assure you it does for me. Refils are expensive in stores, but cheap to purchase online if you look around. It has never jammed, the print is always well aligned to the page, it is very compact. Very easy to set up with both new and old computers (I am currently using it with a 10 year old laptop.)

Nothing but trouble – This printer has presented nothing but issues not long after buying. Currently it says its low on ink even after ever so carefully replacing all the cartridges. Its had many various issues from wifi connecti0on issues to paper jams that don't exist & I've just had enough.
Useless after 6 months of use – I didn't buy the printer so I don't know how much it cost. My mother bought one for me and one for my sister. I remember after about 6 months of use: - I had trouble connecting it to my laptop. - the wifi didn't work once. - I was constantly buying expensive ink, despite the cartridges not being completely empty. - Regularly cleaning the nozzles because of lines through the print. I wouldn't recommend this product. I doubt Epson make it anymore. Show details
OK as a scanner, rubbish as a printer – Nothing but trouble with this crappy printer but you get what you pay for. The scanner function is all it is good for. I've wasted so much money on cartridges. Show details

don't bother – first off if you use this printer do not leave it unsupervised, it's like giving a toddler a bunch of paper and pens leaving them alone and hoping for the best. when the wifi was working i printed from another room, went to check everything was coming through, there was paper everywhere half my assignment on the floor, the black ink cut out part… Read more
way through even though there was supposed to be over half a cartridge left and some parts randomly printed out red. after making sure the tray that catches the paper was out properly to stop paper going everywhere it caused the printer to jam
it seems like i am constantly having to clean the nozzles to get the black ink to work properly, even after just printing something that has come through just fine, try to print the next job pages come through blank or half the writing is cut off
changing cartridges is seriously one of the most frustrating things i have ever had to deal with, it says to push and hold the start button for the cartridges to move to position, but instead of moving to position it charges the ink.
one time i changed the black cartridge then suddenly i need to change the blue one too, repeatedly try to get the cartridges to move to position for changing, repeatedly the printer charges, finally it moves to the right position... by the time it has done this the black ink cartridge was EMPTY after i had literally just replaced it
today i bought a new cable for it after the wifi stopped working, replaced the ink cartridges and updating the software the stupid thing has had a "fatal error"
i really didn't want to be one of those people who just threw something out after a few issues, it did have its moments when it worked really well, but its definitely time to bin it i really should have replaced the stupid thing earlier... i probably would have saved a lot of money replacing ink cartridges (especially after going through 2 black cartridges in a day trying to replace them and wasting ink cleaning the heads over and over)
also should have learned my lesson about Epson since this is the second awful printer i have purchased from them
Where does the ink go!!! – Yes we agree totally where the ink life is concerned. The reviews have taken the words out of my mouth. Thought we just had a dud!!!! Not sure what to do now because we have just purchased yet another supply of ink even though we hardly do any printing at all. Very expensive. Any suggestions for next purchase of a inexpensive but good printer? Show details
Cheap printer costly on ink – We bought this printer as I thought Epson was a good brand, and was quite inexpensive. Very very disappointed. As soon as a cartridge is near empty you cannot print anything at all, not even black and white/grayscale. As an example today the problem was yellow, so we put in a new cartridge and without printing anything, it then said black was too… Read more
low. The cartridges never show as completely empty, what a waste, and what a rip off. Then it couldn't be recognised by my laptop, which it had been printing from previously. Sick of it, Its going in the trash.
Throw away once ink runs out – Prints slowly but quality is acceptable. Printer likes to drink ink, quickly. Doesn't like Macs. Wi-Fi function doesn't function! Buy anything other than this printer. Epson should issue a refund to anyone who made the mistake of buying an XP-200. Should be marketed as a use once and throw away printer. Show details

Slow and uses a lot of ink – Very slow printing and uses soooooo much ink! $30 for the extra large black ink and I have only printed 20 pages with not that much on them and the ink has run out! I can't believe this can be possible, worst printer I have ever had I will be throwing it out and purchasing a different one. You get what you pay for I think ☹️ Show details
not happy – I am not happy with this machine as a printer. It works fine as a scanner though. The printing is very frustrating. It is slow and I am not sure how it uses this much of ink for printing. Also, I always have to clean its print head. It is a waste of money. Show details
Good for price – I haven't had anything like the trouble all these other reviews are reporting. The ink does run out a bit quicker than I like but I just buy aftermarket inks off eBay and that offsets the cost with little to no quality difference. I think we had wifi trouble at one point but we were using a range extender which is what I believed caused the… Read more
issues.
Never had a paper jam, never had paper load issues, ink never dries out, doesn't seem to magically disappear between uses.
For the $70 or so I paid for it, couldn't be happier.
I have used it for four years – The printer, scanner/copier all work well. But as others have said it uses a lot of ink and it has a few problems for a while when you install generic cartridges. Epson wants to milk the ink dollars out of you, wish they would grow up. The software is also intrusive. Show details
Do not buy XP-200 – It always seems to be running out of ink yet I barely use it. It appears to use ink every time you turn it on to prime the printer heads. As a result you run out of coloured ink even if you never print in colour. And when you run out of the coloured inks, you are unable to print in black and white. The XP-200 reinforces what you (should) probably already know...cheap printer = spend a lot of money on ink. Show details
Lump of Junk – Today threw out my second epson printer; when they worked imaging was quite good, but the first one (xp 100) quit after a minimal amount of work, I had print cartridges left so bought an xp 200 hoping to use its wifi capacity. Again while it worked it was fine and I particularly liked the scanner. However, it "out of the blue" stopped loading paper. Since it was fairly cheap I threw it out. I'll never buy another epson product! Show details
Great as a scanner; as a printer, very frustrating – We don't print often and have found that the ink seems to vanish between uses and requires constant print head cleaning. I've lost count of the replacement ink cartridges we've had to buy which cancels any savings we made in purchasing a cheaper printer in the first place. If you just need a scanner, it's fantastic but for a printer, look elsewhere! Show details
Waste of Money – The terrible reviews in here are correct and reflect the poor quality of this printer. It Is frustrating to use with a mind of its own often draining the ink, I have to constantly keep cleaning it and doing head realignments to try to get it to print even with new cartridges! Will not buy Epson again! Show details
Junk . A waste of money. Terrible customer service – Very dissatisfied. Yes, you get what you pay for, but I would expect any printer to last more than 2 months. A piece of paper triggered the paper jam sensor, the paper was retrieved and nothing was jammed, but couldn't use the printer at all as it had falsely detected a paper jam. 12 moths warranty?? Correspondence with customer service was very… Read more
difficult. Finally, I was advised I could take it to a certified repairer where I may be charged if was found to be operators fault. I figured they would class a paper jam as operators fault and didn't bother. Not worth it.

Pile of garbage – I know most printers are cheap piles of garbage but this one takes the cake. Wasted money a new ink cartridge which wouldn't work, another cartridge prints with white lines through things. Paper feed is a joke. Seriously biggest piece of junk i've ever purchased. Will not touch epson with a barge pole ever again.
Triubelsome – I have had many problems with this $60 printer. Paper jams, inability to print, colour ink not lasting long - you name it. At times it will work well for a while then again prove problematic. I doubt that I'll buy again from this manufacturer, even though its instruction manual is easy to read.
Terrible... ink dries out – This printer is a perfect example of why I hate ink jet printers! The ink cartidges were supposed to last 10000 prints... I'd be lucky if I got 10 out before needing to replace cartridges... now I am cleaning and aligning print nozzles to try and get a reasonable print out for my small business, and I'll be surprised if that process doesn't empty… Read more
the new cartridges!
If these reviews were out before I bought, I never would have bought it.
Incredibly difficult to set up on WiFi, goes through ink like a seven day a week drunk... stay far, far away!!!!
Do not waste money and Do not trust OfficeWorks staff – I bought dumb printer. It doest not recognise its ink. Always have some error on screen and does not print. Even replaced with its ink. Still not working. Total wastage of money. One of staff at OFFICE WORKS BROWNS PLAIN recoomended this saying "this is best and cheapest to run " Will never use EPSON AGAIN throwing in bin
ripped off – First and last time I will be buying an epson printer...this printer doesn't even recognise its own just purchased epson ink! the ink light is flashing and cartridges were installed by the book, what a load of rubbish and a waste of time stuffing around with this piece of junk.. in to the bin it goes
Worst printer – very little ink in the cartridge only use a couple of time, the ink is empty! and can not even print out black color, when color cartridge run out of ink!! Total waste of money and time !!! Just a rubbish. Worst worst worst printer I have ever use in my life!
Very poor printer – I like the scanner but the printer itself is really bad. I am constantly having to replace the ink cartridges, have never bought so many cartridges in my life! Won't print black and white when it runs out of colour, just stops and that's it. Not good when you have to print out something urgently and suddenly run out of ink, and it does happen really quickly.
Worst printer I have ever owned – Has never worked, right from the start. Constant dramas with the flashing light, uses ink up like there is no tomorrow and will also refuse to work because of `low ink' when they are brand new cartridges. I would physically stop someone from buying this printer if I saw them pick it up in a shop. Appalling. I can't say how bad it is.
XP200 Disaster – I have never encountered such a complete, absolute, frustration as this device. Nothing worked first time. The instructions for reloading cartridges are formed in the black plastic under the lid where they are impossible to read, and it took several attempts for the print assembly to move to the correct positions to indicate which cartridges… Read more
needed replacing. I am also doubtful that when it finally did move, it indicated that two different colours happened to be empty simultaneously. Coincidence?
The scanner software has totally refused to work. Life is not long enough to try and sort out the disaster which is this series of machine.
You are bombarded with offers on email, but when you need help it is unavailable. I will never buy anything from this company again, and hope they fall out of existence.
Further to my review of this product, here is the very useful response I received from the Epson online help enquiry - "please use the Epson Scan Software supplied with the printer". This is exactly the software that doesn't work on my printer, hence my request for help! Thanks a lot Epson!
Very poor – Very poor printers - always problems. Can't even get it to switch on and off without light blinking forever. Can't fill ink when I want to, etc, etc. I've ditched mine, all three of them, last epson product I will buy. You wonder what that company is up to. Got myself a Canon - happy camper now.
XP 200 Crap – Has there ever been such an awful printer as the XP 200 Ink drinker - counter intuitive - petulant - mind of it's own - won't talk to me. Not only cheap but also nasty - is Epson trying to kill their brand maybe? Ahgggrrr! Back to HP or Canon
Absolute rubbish – It uses ink like water. The "XP" cartridge is used in what seems days. Changing the cartridge is nothing short of absolute and utter nightmarish crap. The instructions say one thing and the printer does something totally different. If you are thinking of buying this printer all I can say is good luck, never in all my days have I had to work with such a piece of counter intuitive rubbish.
rubbish – Purchased this printer in July, it stopped printing in August, after 2 phone calls to Epson service (off no help) refered me to an Authorised repair center. 3 days later got a call need to put genuine Epson cartridges in it to be repaired at a cost of $60 for the cartridges ,the printer only cost $50 Not something I would ever consider again
