Epson ET-7700 ink smudge on paper have to clean inside where the ink sits in the sponge not drying like it is supposed to.

I suspect that the maintenance box might be full. It's not suppose to dry up. It just fills with ink and then leaks if you don't empty it. Fit a new maintenance box?

Not correct it's probably a blocked tube that is attached to the maintenance tank
