‘AFFORDABLE’ is a joke. $450 per week for A ‘SHOW BOX’ 2 rooms TINY, TINY UNIT. I was at their CLAREMONT, TASMANIA, facility until I could find something more suitable. FOOD (1 meal a day that you microwave in your Unit, which Residents described as ‘AWFUL, and sone Milk & Bread once a week’. ) costs an extra $30 a week. The Community consists of elderly, clique groups of mostly Women, who was never going to let this 62 year old ‘SENIOR ‘YOUNGSTER’ into their little Groups.

When I was there (FEBRUARY TO JULY) there was very little effort to ‘MAKE A COMMUNITY’ So many of the Residents told me they wish they could get out, hating it there. I felt so sorry for them. They had no option but to stay!! It was the worst 6 months of my life. An absolute NIGHTMARE which caused me to almost take my own life. I had an antique Motor directly under my Unit, which never went on in Feb, March and most of April, but then burst into power so sporadic on a daily basis (It was like having your Kitchen Exhaust on all day, even when the antique Motor WASN’T on, I waited for it to come on. I spent months trying to find what it could be used for (ON 1 MIN, 5 MINS, 40 MINS, 3 HOURS, SOMETIMES NEVER FOR 2 DAYS!) It made my Mental Health plummet. HEAD OFFICE in Qld DID NOTHING. Said they’d had an electrician look at it (WHEN??) and it was for the Cool Room. NO, it wasn't (PROVEN). TO SUMMARISE: If you have a Mother or a Grannie, Aunty, even yourself, BUY A CARAVAN! You will be a much better life. EUREKA CLAREMONT, HOBART (NO IDEA ABOUT ANY OTHER FACILITY THEY HAVE) IS A PLACE TO GO WHEN YOU HAVE DEMENTIA AND ARE WAITING TO DIE. It’s HORRENDOUS!! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
