Great bit of kit – Great tool but the dust collection in the bag that’s supplied is poor. That’s why only 4 stars.
Little disappointing – As you lower the saw it pours dust from previous cuts all over your timber.Only designed to use with a vacum. Alot of money for a poor design.
Hi Renee Sorry to hear you are not completely satisfied with the your KAPEX saw. As Festool take the health and safety aspect of our users as a high priority the saw has been designed to be used with a dust extractor for optimal performance both in cutting performance and health & safety however, we know this is not alway possible and a dust collection bag should be used in place of a dust extractor. The bag, for practical reasons, is only designed to hold a small amount of dust which will need regular emptying to avoid dust spilling onto the job. By regular empyting of the bag you are maximising the dust-capturing abilty of the bag and therefore helping the bag capture potentially harmful dust around the jobsite. Festool takes dust safety very seriously as it is a major cause of health issues in the workplace. Nice saw for accuracy and precision – It is a really nice compound mitre saw. I think it’s worth the premium price above the other brands available. Well packaged, easy to use and ideal for a workshop or job sites. The instructions booklet is not particularly helpful as it is prepared for all countries and languages and makes it hard to search for information on certain features. I am not exited to write reviews to assist potential buyers. I prefer to write reviews for the product management so they can improve their products and brand.
a precise mitre saw (bloody Germans :)...) – I like almost everything about this saw. There is one thing I don't like - when you let go of the handle (when you finish cutting), the saw flies up very fast - the spring, which is pulling it back is too strong I think
High precision. Perfect – Switched from a Ryobi Mitre Saw to Festool KS60 and as you would expect a world of difference! I needed precision cuts and with this Festool no problem whatsoever. I also had to switch occasionally from left to right handed cutting and then you realize how handy the Festool is. Really a gem!

Dust collection using the supplied bag will indeed not be as good as when using a dust extractor however I am surprised to see you describe it as poor. If you can, are you able to supply more details so maybe we could suggest a better way to use the bag to reduce dust? Can you send us a photo of how the bag is typically used? Cheers
