I am happy with this oven except for the timer function which is useless. It is much too quiet and doesn't go for long enough. if you are any distance from the oven then it is quite likely you won't hear it.

Great oven overall apart from Pyrolitic Function…DO NOT USE IT on this oven model.. Used it the first time a few months after purchase. Upon completion of a 3hr cycle, it came up with the dreaded A3 error code and the door remained locked. Booked a tech from F & P who came out and changed the power board and limiter.. All back to normal.. we wer then hesitant to use the clean cycle again but thought it couldn’t happen again… tried again for a second time a year later and after another 3hr cycle the A3 error came on again and the door remained locked.. waiting for tec to come again and replace the same parts again… have read others experiencing the same thing during the self clean cycle…it appears quality control has failed this oven which is a shame… we bought it due to the self clean function for the price to end up with an oven we will never use self clean function again to void the heart ache of going without a working oven… unlikely will buy F&P oven again in future..

Compare other ovens first – My oven is a few years old and I hate it. The telescopic arms are impossible to clean, the inside is smaller than other ovens. You cannot put anything in the oven until it has reached the temp you want or else it burns everything. The only redeeming factor is the self clean but you have to take the wall racks out. Other ovens have wider oven less trouble to use self clean. And easy to clean racks.
Purchased at The Good Guys for $3,000.

Best oven I have owned – Replaced our old oven recently as the bottom element stopped working. Was a difficult decision as to which brand to purchase that would suit my cooking needs. After much research I decided on a Fisher & Paykel Pyrolytic Oven as I liked the idea of it being self cleaning, who likes to clean an oven anyway!. Love how it has 9 different functions to choose from allowing different types of cooking. From basic bake to pizza and roast. Each function is preset but you can adjust to the temperature you want. The oven heats up very, very quickly and lets you know on the display as the temperature rises until it gets to the set temperature then buzzes you to let you know it's ready. Cooking is true to the temperature and even has a countdown timer and alarm. Very very happy so far with our new oven and it looks great as well.
Unforeseen issue with increasing temperature – Firstly this is a great oven.....However.....this oven uses the grill to help it increase its temperature quickly. What this means is that if you have something in the oven and you want to increase the temperature, you need to take your food out of the oven and wait for the temperature to finish increasing otherwise the grill that has switched on burns the top of your food! Shame really. Probably would not have purchased it had I known this.
