The automatic dryer function is useless. It just traps my clothes in there for hours, like 5+ hours, spinning around wasting energy. Then the wretched thing has no way to open the door (yes I followed the instructions, they don’t work) So the only way to get my clothes out is to run the air dry function for another 40 minutes to finally open… Read more

the wretched door.

I suggest you don’t buy this brand and instead buy one with a proper door release function

I shall shortly send it to landfill and buy a proper one . terrible work F and P, you should be ashamed of this machine

Definitely wouldn't recommend. When the machine is working its great but it had an error issue 3 years ago and we had to get it serviced. Yesterday another error issue and can't get it to work and washing is stuck in there. For an expensive machine I wouldn't expect 2 service calls. Purchased in 2018 so only 7 years old. Not going to get it serviced again as I'm sure this will keep happening. Show details

Gotta be a better product than this – A few years old. Cleans ok, never dry, even if extra dry cycle used and half load. Takes ages to complete cycle, be warned, the time remaining is not accurate. Then stopped working. New logic board……..new lotsa parts. Still washes doesn’t dry, loves springing error codes, despite 8 service visits. (Sunk cost effect). Pulled the plug. Would not recommend.

Best buy of the year! – Wow, I love the Fisher and Paykel combo washer dryer. I replaced my old washing machine and dryer and have never looked back. I was very nervous about buying it due to the negative reviews about the dryer however I have found the dryer is fantastic. We have had a lot of wet weather lately and the dryer works like a dream. Better than I ever hoped for. Washes great as well. So happy I bought this machine. Show details

Good washing machine- but need to follow manual specifically to give you that 5 stars result – The best machine ever! To those who questioned the drying capacity and also the smell of the clothes after washing, let me clarify this. Firstly, the manual suggest that you shouldn’t overload the machine. Use the towel function. That’s the best one- also rinse plus is a good option. If you have linen clothes in the machine, make sure only use… Read more

the quick wash.

The drum clean function is important- you need to do it every now and then. That will stop clothes from smelling bad (that usually comes from dust accumulated in the filter)

note: Not a sponsored review, just vibing with the machine as someone who is renting a studio apartment!

Excellent machine - no issues after two years of continual use – I was very reluctant to purchase a washer/dryer combo and even more so when I ready the poor reviews on the one I had picked, which is this one. Moving from a house to an apartment meant a downsized laundry so a wash/dryer combo was a must. This washer/dryer is a workhouse and after two years of continual use, it has not missed a beat. I only use… Read more

So functional and handy – This washer dryer combo has made my life infinitely easier. I do at least a load a day and it's handled all those loads well. With small children, being able to set and forget to wash and dry a load, and come home to everything done, is a convenience I now can't do without. The only drawbacks are that I wish the size was larger so I could launder… Read more

more sheets and towels together, and that the load can't be full when you want to also run the dryer function- if there's not enough space the dryer takes a very long time.

Believe the after sales reviews – Machine only just over a year old, stopped working after a district power failure. Techie came same day but then told me the part needed was in Brisbane (we are in Sydney). Scheduled a repair for 10 days later. On the morning of the scheduled repair I got a message saying techie has called in sick. Next repair slot is not for another 7 days. I had… Read more

to message F&P to go on a waitlist, it wasn’t offered voluntarily. And I’m not holding my breath.

Really F&P, do you really regard this is after sales SERVICE? Why are replacement parts not stored in each major metropolitan area? Plus you obviously don’t employ enough after sales techies and don’t have any backup plan in place. This is our first and last F&P appliance, believe those after service reviews.

Gives Error code 105 often and when it comes I have to keep it unplugged for a month atleast – Probably the worst washing machine I have ever owned. I use the recommended amount of detergent, cleans the washing machine once every 4-6 months, and I still get error code 105. This seems to be a common issue with these types of washing machines from Fisher & Paykel. This code is not a simple fix, you have to call a technician to replace either… Read more

Don't buy one – We have had it 18 months and it has broken down 4 times. Each time it has been the door lock, which they have replaced, but now they say it needs a new mother board. Clearly the design is too complicated or inadequate to give you a reliable machine. Show details

Repeat repairs on Dryer function – I've had 3 different technical services on my machine since I purchased it brand new. I can't be bothered calling them out again since the wash/dry loads just come out hot and damp. They fix it and it probably last a couple of months before it returns to hot and damp loads. I usually just hang it out after then or keep it running for a few more… Read more

Unfortunate as my F&P washer before that was perfect. The washer on this one is great as well but the drying function is where this fails. It's overpriced for what is delivers. It is however, easy to use and quiet.

Good in theory, bad in practice – We bought this washer dryer combo to replace our broken condenser dryer as we thought it a great idea to try a combo machine which would save space in our apartment. The first few washes it worked perfectly. Loved that there was no unloading from the washing machine and having to start a separate cycle on the dryer. We could just set and forget… Read more

and the clothes were pretty much dried to perfection. However over a shot time the machine started to not dry the loads very well and it takes a very long time for the cycles to finish. The machine estimates a 3 hour wash and dry duration but in reality it can take up to 5+ hours. Another frustrating aspect is that it's nearly impossible to open the machine door once the drying cycle starts. Pressing the add garment button starts the the process but is basically stuck on a loop of "cooling" and the door never opens. The machine does wash the clothes adequately, it's the quality of the drying function that leaves a lot to be desired. for a$1400 machine I wouldn't recommend or buy again.

Breaks regularly – Worked decently for a while- a great washer, good on delicates, lots of settings and options, a mediocre dryer for whenever it's raining for a week straight.... then the touch screen went on it. 3 times. Apparently a fault with the electrics and Fisher Paykel will fix and give the part another 1 year warranty. But you'll be out of a washer every time it happens. Show details

2 years old and already having problems. Hardly used it… – After no issues for 2 years it’s decided to play up. Had the service tech come out yesterday only to end up with another problem today! 1st problem was lint clean error and error6. Even though lint filters are all clean/cleared. Noisy, Takes FOREVER to dry if it does, vibrates like crazy and over priced – Every load is so loud that I can hear the machine from outside the front of my house with the laundry some 30m away and 4 rooms (excluding the outside Bri K walls of the house) away. Door has developed cracks on the front panel. Apparently not covered by warranty – Works fine, just normal washing. Controls are easy to use and we are satisfied with the cycle times. It does t@ke a little bit too long to dry. Machine could be higher as when you are older, putting in and taking out is sometimes hard. Show details

No star Garbage – It’s a washer dryer combo stopped working just about an year time. Service call took 1 month or more to arrive. Great to begin with but now noisy – When we first started using it was great but now after only a short time the dryer makes this horrible loud sound which never stops. We have had a technician come to fix but says there is nothing wrong with it and it is only a little air escaping but when we first started using it was not doing this. Show details

Everything is going well with mine – With the negative reviews around, I must admit I was hesitant to buy a washer/dryer combo. But as I have a one bedroom apartment, space is a premium. The Fisher and Paykel washer dryer combo has been perfect. So far so good, a bit over a year in now. The F&P top loader I had before was still going strong 15 years on and after moving all over the… Read more

country, but unfortunately I eventually had to downsize. My main negative (and I believe its a front loader thing vs a brand issue) is the towels do end up a bit crunchy/ruff. But I've sorted that by using the dryer on them every time. That way they come out perfect and fluffy. The machine is really quiet in my opinion, I wouldn't use it when I'm sleeping, there is a time delay function for that kind of thing anyway. The wash/dry function on for example 5 towels is under 4 hours... To me that would be less than a wash cycle, remembering it's there, transferring to a dryer, etc.

Awesome piece of gear – I use this machine minimum, 1x daily, but generally it gets 2x loads a day- I always use the wash & dry function, except in summer, for sheets. wash, with the dry function is only 3-4 hours max, and I have never had a problem with any blockages.. we are farmers, so clothing is filthy, and this machine is nearly 3 years old. I'm about to purchase and install a 2nd machine, as other house inhabitants are bigger, older, and now can do their own washing, so we can churn through at least 5 or 6 loads a day through winter, without having clothesline fails in the rain. It is super easy to use, quiet and fast.

Three breakdowns in 2.5 years - unacceptably slow after care service – If you use the drying function regularly, this machine will clog with lint. The lint build up will eventually prevent proper drainage, meaning your clothes neither clean nor dry. The first time this occurred for me, the technician told me it happens all the time with this model, and I shouldn't use the dry function more than once a week. Not a… Read more

great outcome, given I bought it to dry my clothes after every load (I live in a small apartment) - but after thinking it through carefully I bit the bullet and bought a separate dryer.

Over time the problem has occurred again, and the technician is now unable to fix it. And it's now just out of warranty. So I spent $1400 for a washer/dryer that couldn't dry after 18 months, and now can't wash either at 28 months. Each time it's needed a service I've had to wait at least 2 weeks for someone to show up, after waiting at least an hour on the phone to book the service. The standard of technicians is really variable - the last one told me the problems were caused because I was using washing liquid instead of powder...

These design/quality/aftercare issues are just unacceptable for premium products that should last at least 10 years.

Quiet and effective dryer – What we like: Very quiet. Would hardly know the spin cycle is active. Loudest phase is the water fill Clothes come out as dry as selected. are cleaning up, 14+ hour delay during winter is often required

Washer dryer combos often do not get great reviews because of poor drying performance, however the WD8560F1 has performed well with items being dried according to the setting selected. We have a small house where the laundry is very close to our kitchen and we can leave the door open when eating dinner or watching TV without being interrupted. If it was not for the 12 hour limitation on delayed starts, I would rate this 5/5

Never again – The machine failed three times in 3 years- all separate faults. We had product care from Harvey Norman who eventually just gave us a credit to replace with another brand. We were out of pocket as we lost our reloading product care warranty and also cost of machine was now higher. Was doing fine, then just completely died – With a family of 5, this machine held up admirably for just over 2 years. Constant service calls, and poor performance even when it is 'working' – We bought two identical machines in July 2018 as we had previously owned F&P washer and dryer which had provided good service over many years. regularly. We have complained to F&P however they appear disinterested. We have gone from strong F&P advocates to feeling like they have robbed us of several thousand. We have now decided to cut our losses and throw away these machines and buy a better brand.

Even when 'working' the performance is poor. The drying function is completely ineffective. The only way we could make it work was to increase to max spin speed AND then use the extra dry function which pushes even a short cycle out to over 3 hrs. Incredibly dissapointed with these machines, and having two I feel confident the poor performance is not caused by a lemon device, but rather just poor design.

Faulty Parts – Very disappointed with this machine. The seal gasket melted within months and then came off entirely and the silver detail peaked within the year. Having the faults repaired has been a time consuming exercise that has involved repeat calls to the customer service centre - the first representative did not accurately record the details of the fault or order the correct parts to repair. I would not recommend this product. Show details

The wash cycles are way too long & you can't save time doing a quick wash because of the need to rinse again. The dry cycle is very inefficient & also takes a long time to do it's job. I absolutely would not recommend this machine to anyone. For the price you can do a lot better buying 2 separate machines. Hard on clothes but handy to wash dry all at once – Shirts and tees come out with pilling, very rough on clothes. This is using everyday wash. Currently experimenting with delicate cycle.
