the best car in my eyes – good car I use it as a farm Ute has no major issues it as 407.000kms on it with the original head gasket I think that's good for a petrol engine go's up hills if 4th no problem she still runs like new. the courier is a strong built Ute overall best car ford made. only liked the 90s ones oh and it is a bit light in the butt end with no load on Show details
not bad – my old 2004 PH turbo diesel 2.5 lt courier. i put new head on myself head done by P&A Gilbert Cylinder Head Service and yep over 600ks didn't run out of diesel so your specs are right Show details
Ford Courier Diesel 4x2 ..now 16 years old – I bought his ute new for work, now Im long retired .......the only issue its ever had was the MLS head gasket leaking ...which they all do.....anyhoo,replaced the whole head ,valves .cam etc with an import one, simply because it was cheaper than getting the head faced ,valves etc locally, and zero wait time.......Nothing wrong with the old head ,its… Read more
100%.....and replaced the clutch master cylinder ....thats it ,for 16 years of completely trouble free driving...best vehicle Ive ever had.
Reliable, cheap on parts and easy to fix – Purchased from Perth car dealer and had it trucked to qld. Overall not a bad ute. Like its simplicity and cheap to buy parts for. Roomy interior and standard high ground clearance and looks ok, ABS brakes, great on sand at Fraser Island. Dislike strange 4wd system with clutches in transfer case, found out when got stuck on mud on one spot with… Read more
front crossmember on an island with all 4 wheels spinning, not good. Rust in a few places, 2.6L petrol engine works well up to 80klms, struggles to maintain 100klms on any hill loaded or unloaded in 4th or 5th gear. Heavy on fuel 12.3L per 100klms normally, loaded with camp gear, trailer and quad uses 17-18L per 100klms
2006 wlt space cab – I've owned 2 wlt couriers and they've not skipped a beat, for cheap you can buy a snorkel, larger intercooler and a 3inch exhaust and they go even better. Big end bearing, Heads, diffs and gearboxes are the problems with these apparently but ive had no troubles as i change the oils and look after mine and they towed and worked like champions, very easy to work on to in my opinion as you don't need to be a computer programmer. Ford Courier 1999 model 2lt turbo Diesel – Recently my Courier blew the radiator and over heated. I replaced the head with a brand new head from SA $850.00 Gasket set $200 same place , new water pump, reconditioned my injectors $255.00, replaced temp sending unit and ECU temp sending unit, timing belt and pulley, Idler pulley, new radiator, top and bottom radiator hoses, change oil and… Read more
filter, changed fuel filter. All this gear readily available from EBAY. Turn the key and she purred. Runs very well, All up $1800.00 myself. Mechanic charges $4000.00. They are a great unit.
Best ute ever – This is my second Courier. Toughest most ultra reliable and safe vehicle ever made. Not fancy, not light on fuel, but as I don't do high mileage and don't need a fancy vehicle it is perfect. They should have kept making them. Sturdy, keeps to the road and never fails to start. Is the Courier as good as 1990 Land cruiser – The Ute is great. Great on fuel. Had to replace clutch. I knew that when I bought the vehicle. The Courier is easy to drive. Ride is not hard. Roomy cab and ample room in the tray. The ute has a ute canopy. The ute came with bull bar side steps and driving lights. I replaced the driving lights with 4" LEDs and light bar. I have installed 12000lb… Read more
winch. Also UHF CB . I am pleased with buying the ute. I bought it to tow my 5.2mt caravan. Which it tows well. Granted the Ute is 1999 even though it performs well. I recently gave ute an oil change and put synthetic oil in. Bad move engine blew out the oil around turbo. I teplaced oil with mineral and oil problem went away. I have now installed an Oil catch can. Engine appears to be operating better.
4x4 frount axle – How’s it going Just resently brout a ford courier (2004) and it has a split frount left boot Does any one know how to replace it? If so could you please get back to me ASAP as I’m just starting to drive and I don’t want water, mud, dust etc Thanks Show details
Great work horse – Bought the twin cab second hand at auction 18 months old with 51K on the clock. Had been used on the Nullabor with SA health services. Had diff problems. Got that fixed properly the second time and have not had a major problem since. Only the usual things wore out like the radiator, etc. It gets a service every 10,000 km. So, it now has over 370K… Read more
on the clock, engine is brilliant and it tows the best. Tows the boat without problems (1.7 tonnes) and has towed the caravan to Brisbane twice from Adelaide. Gearbox has had one major service and the radio cassette has been replaced. I run Bridgestone or Continental tyres and get 78K out of them. Only drawback is fuel economy is not real flash, about 18mpg around town and 23 on the open road. But that is a trade off for the work horse it is. Not fast but power for the 2.6L engine. It has LPG fitted and that is good on the mainland where LPG is cheaper than here in Tas. Runs good on gas with little noticeable power loss. So comfortable on the long hauls.
Another Great Ford! – Awesome car from the ground up! I purchased this cheap with a damaged cylinder head, I spent a bit replacing that and other parts, it now runs like a dream. Such a smooth ride that goes well on any terrain, no usual ute clunking or creaking. The cab is perfect, seats are comfortable plenty of leg room and only 2 seats, means the kids stay home :) … Read more
Original stereo was a bit slack so I replaced that and now its spot on, I would recommend to Courier or Ranger ute as the power and fuel usage are unbelievable. Great mileage while maintaining a good balance of power when you need it!! Well done Ford... 3 out of 3 perfect Fords I now own!!

Find out how Ford Courier compares to other Utes
Know better, choose better.
So practical and reliable – Bought my 2.5 turbo diesel 2006 super cab 2 years ago with 175000 ks has now done 252000.It has never let me down,I do all the maintenance myself as it is so easy to work on religiously change oil every 5000, the timing belt only takes about 1 hour as it is so accessible, has reasonable get up and go on the highways with around 10litres per 100kms .Its a well put together truck its been the best value for money 4x4 I have ever owned. 2005 ford courier 2.5TD – Brought my courier 2 yrs ago with 160k on the clock. All I wanted was a no fuss 4x4 and the courier is just that. Very basic interior and vinyl coverings on the floor . I do find there is limited room in the back seats for the kids so I wouldn't recommend distance travelling with adults in the back. But one thing I will say is this car ticks a lot… Read more
of boxes for me. I am averaging 9.5lt/100kms, have taken it through out the Western Australian gold fields, beaches and other longish hauls and the thing just does it with no fuss. I do drop oil and change oil filter every 5000ks and fuel filter every 10000 ks. I find the gearing a little high but I only sit on 100ks whilst on highways any faster and my economy drops. I don't do any extreme 4x4 ing but this car has taken me to where I want to go with ease and would recommend it as you get a good bang for your buck. Car has 190k on the clock.
Perfect First Ute – Purchased second hand over a year ago and no problems at all. Replaced battery and glow plugs shortly which fixed the starting issue. 2.5TD has plenty of power for me while continuously using 10L/100KM. Plenty of space on the tray as it is a single cab and handles a good load of gravel with ease. Handles really well for a tradie ute. It has never… Read more
let me down and aslong as they are maintained well they are a decent vehicle just go easy on 5th gear with the turbo diesel. The extra torque can strip the bearing so drop back to 4th on the hills and stay out of 5th while towing.
It has a very badly designed gear box. Fifth gear slips and the head cracks. No one should buy these – It lacks power and isnt suited for off road driving. If Ford made changes to reinforce the 5th gear and put in a better alloy head it would make a great difference. Otherwise the Ford Courier is a strong sturdy vehicle. Ford should continue making these uncomplicated and easy to repair vehicles. Fine tuning the diesel pump or replacing it with electronic injection might increase the fuel economy. Show details
Heap – Have had my curried since I bought it new in 2005 had nothing but trouble with this car. I have changed the starter motor, the left hand drive shaft 2 new. Batteries, put a new clutch in it and now for the bog one I have had to change two cv joints, the slip joint on the tail shaft and the car has only done 120000km, it had cost me loads. And I… Read more
have had to cut and shut the tail shaft as you can not just buy the cc joint you have to buy the whole tail, it only comes in one peace at a cost of $4800. Never will buy a Ford again. Not much Lots
Ford Courier 4x4 2005 V6 – Pretty good overall. I've got the 4.0l V6. PH Upgrade. Super cab. Economy is shocking. About 20ltrs per 100 k's. (that's right) 80 ltr tank gets me about 400 k's. But - goes like hell. Heaps of grunt. I've had it for about two years and I've changed the starter motor and thats about it. For the price, compared to a Hilux or Navara, it's worth… Read more
it. Realistically. any repairs minor or major, you would be out in front because or the money you save on the purchase price. I paid $15000 two years ago.
In the wet with nothing in the back, has a mind of its own on roundabouts. Gotta be careful. Locks up easily too if you have to break suddenly. ABS would be awesome in these utes. Smooth ride and not too noisy. 4x4 is ok.I've had mates get stuck where I didn't and I've been stuck where my mates weren't.
I've got a mate with the same year and type except for its turbo diesel 4 cyl. For him, nothing but trouble. From the motor in front to the diff in rear.
Overall I love it. Initial cost (value for money). Heaps of grunt. The worst fuel economy. Could use ABS.
Good – Fuel economy is 10.8L/100kms mixed driving in a diesel dual cab giving around 600ks range out of a tank. Lot easier to park and maneuver around town than the Navara D/C that I drive for work. Good secondhand value, reasonable turning circle, capable 4wd, remote locking hubs. Low range is low which makes it useful in tough going. No power under… Read more · 1
2000rpm at which the turbo kicks in and all is good. 5th gear could be higher for better highway travel (noise/economy) as it is reving abit high at 100-110km/hr.
OK – As a commercial vehicle it is great. 4x4 is ok not the best but with ok tyres will be fine. Not the best on fuel - 400-475km per 70L tank but on gas great. Will tow anything. Cheap to buy second hand - I have a 99 model. Parts are very expensive (as with all Mazda parts - thats what it is a Bravo rebadged). Show details
