UNMITIGATED DISASTER Had the iq4 for a couple of weeks. Reset at leat 20 times. Collapsed every time replay of recorded content is attempted. Just horrendous. Surely I can get better than this from expensive FOXTEL Show details
What an experience to close Foxtel account – Don't try to close your account with Foxtel - the way they push you through a process is appalling! I tried to close my account - which I was sure I did online - oh no I still got a bill - I then rang through to disconnect after my bill said I would be losing services - I was told still had a balance to pay = which I did. I had packed their… Read more
equipment, and paid for the pick-up - but no pick-up. I then was put onto the Loyalty team who tried to convince me to stay - the guy, I believe showed bit of aggression when I said I was not interested. However, I then received a text to say I had not given them back their equipment and lo and behold another bill! Now, I am annoyed. I rang through and after explaining the situation and put on hold I was told I still had a balance of $20 or so to pay. I said I am not paying it. I was then, after a wait given to the supervisor, who was being a wise guy and asked how he could help me. I asked why I have to go through the whole process again and why I wasn't warm transferred - he said he wanted to hear my side of the story, Isn't that what the customer service attendant would have had? He proceeded to tell me that because of the payment cycles I got the bill and would automatically get another - WHAT??!! This is harassment - and I still needed to pay ...........etc etc NO I wont! Leave me alone!!! how unprofessional -
Biggest load of crap – Updated to IQ4 in Sept 22, had pixilation very badly (Foxtel advised we needed a new aerial which we did not get) could only record 1 HD channel and 2 FTA channels in non HD. Foxtel would not work last Saturday so we were sent a new IQ4 box. Received and set up, but we can now only record 1 FTA channel, rang Foxtel said that’s right, and when… Read more
stated we could record 3 channels last week and new box only records 1, too bad so sad. Funny thing is the pixilation has now gone and no new aerial. Bloody useless piece of equipment. Going to go on and look at Fetch and get rid of Foxtel.

Happy with the iQ4 - Self Install Kit was fairly easy too – I would recommend getting the iQ4 if you already have Foxtel HD and have a 4K TV even if you don't subscribe to the one little 4K channel they have. The iQ4 box seems to operate faster than the iQ3 and the remote control seems more responsive when going through the menu AND most importantly you get 4K resolution when it is operating unlike the iQ3… Read more
locked in at 1080p, that on a 4K TV is just offensive LOL so it makes sense to get an iQ4 if you have a 4K TV. I'm not going to comment about the variety of 4K content because Foxtel only has ONE 4K channel.. 4K UHD is 4K UHD
AUTO STANDBY IS THE STUPIDIST INVENTION EVER, why these companies think we want our devices to turn off baffles me.. go away and let us stay always connected - here some info about that stupid feature
Switch off auto standby for iQ4 if you have a stable connection with no need to be changing HDMI Source or no need to turn your devices OFF then disable the energy saver on the iQ4. I leave my devices on 24/7 I don't care about saving $3.00 a month on my power bill I care more about my connectivity remaining stable, constant and always on. Fetch TV do this too I am yet to write a review about them but you can bet your rechargable batteries I'm going to blast them about this stupid ECO feature. The only device you need Energy saving on is the actual TV the devices should all be subservient chickens and stay on like they are designed to do not go to sleep and have a yawn every 3 hours or even less.
To be Frank, although i'm Brian turning devices off then on then off then on wrecks them faster.. why? Well when your device is operating it will control it's own operating temperature either with fans or just how it is designed. Now when you turn it off you cause the device to go from hot to cold and then when you turn it back on it warms up again, hot, cold, hot cold I think I might just warp, buckle or crack. Leaving it on if your device can keep it's temperature stable has less risk of failure. Ever seen a TAXI driver sitting in his car and it's still running! He doesn't do this so he can floor it to the next fare he does this to keep his vehicle at the correct operating temperature it has less chance of wear and tear. Google this if you are unsure of what I mean but a constant operating temperature is better than turning devices on and off all the time. I wish manufactures would leave Auto Standby OFF by default.
Auto standby Every little bit helps, right? NOOO
To save your household precious energy and carbon emissions, your iQ will go into Auto Standby after a period of inactivity. GO AWAY STUPID... it's my device now not yours and it's my power operating it and you only need to worry about supplying content and an invoice.
Don’t worry though – it won’t interfere with any recordings or Foxtel Store downloads. JUST DISABLE IT
Just choose the period of time before your iQ goes into Standby mode: OFF and BUGGER OFF
Low – after three hours Medium – after two hours High – after one hour
Press the Home button on your remote Scroll and select Settings Select TV guide settings Change energy saving mode to Off Please note: Your default energy setting mode is On.

**Updated Review** as I experienced "issues" similar to what many others are having and most of the customers are pulling their hair out in regards to how the device operates with the screen flashing or not even being displayed i.e. loss of signal. Mind you this is for my experience only and may not help anyone. But I believe this info will be helpful so you can have a little faith that the iQ4 does work.**
I knew the issue was the HDCP setting as soon as the initial iQ4 update finished I had lost signal between the iQ4 and the TV (my TV is not on the compatibility list but the following resolved my issue).
As with many devices the restart process does not require the HDCP to communicate as it's a low resolution startup of just a boot screen.
The Problem with the device is not due to HDMI-CEC being set on the device but there is definitely a HDCP issue and it's not Foxtels fault and it's not the TV's fault it is HDCP being an over protective nanny for all connected devices. Well for my experience anyway.
With this device I have come to the conclusion HDCP is a pain in the butt but there is a solution by using a HDMI Splitter this video (see attached video) will give you a bit of an idea of the problem that you may experience when adding the iQ4 to your home, the guy in the video is having sound issue but that is not the only issue HDCP error can cause as display resolution can also be affected when you switch from HDMI 1 to 2 or 3 etc your screen disconnects then waits for a handshake saying it is HDCP compliant during this lag one of the devices says nah your a pirate or fake or just some crumby device see ya not letting you in.
The video below is about a gaming setup but the issue is still a HDCP transmission issue and the guy shows you how using it bypasses any HDCP issue. A splitter would remain connected to the TV so it will always assume you are still connected on the HDMI port you are using. Anyway, if you encounter any screen flashing or audio issue the first thing I would look at is the HDMI connection and try using a Splitter.
This is an example of a HDMI Splitter but please make sure this is suitable to your needs there are many to choose from, also you will want to ensure it is 4K ready. I'm not suggesting you connect this to multiple TV's but use it to assist your HDCP compliance between the iQ4 and your TV. Please note although I mention Splitter you might find what you only need is a HDMI Switch, ask when you go shopping. The Splitter seems to support 4K better. And finally here is an indepth article about this HDCP rubbish https://www.howtogeek.com/208917/htg-explains-how-hdcp-breaks-your-hdtv-and-how-to-fix-it/

Please comment if this has resolved any iQ4 connection issue for you. Apologies to Admin for having to review so many millions of Edits, spelling errors, changed paragraphs etc in this review I have posted and updated but my intention was to provide the best honest review for this product as I do enjoy my Foxtel.
Foxtel IQ4K misleading advertising – Purchased 75 in 4KTV to find Foxtel would rather have their customers troubleshoot ,replace their box instead of publishing the TVbrands that link to IQ4 According to TV manufacturer OK Show details

Continuous faults with system – We have been having a lot of problems with the IQ4 box. .Some are intermittent, such as failing to play recorded shows. Often when selected we just get a blank screen. Then later they can be shown. The other main problem is with Netflix and other apps. Sometimes they will just not load at all or partly load to 24% then say they are unavailable.… Read more
This is B/S as they play perfectly well on a computer attached to the same wi fi about 1 M away from the IQ 4 box. Wi Fi is hi speed cable to the premises and works well. In the last ' fault fixing' the whole IQ4 box was reset- meaning that we lost all of our prerecorded shows. The Netflix problem remains- but still works well on the computer-not sure yet about the recordings. We were informed that the Netflix error will require a 'case manager' who will get back to us within 5 working days - despite Netflix working on the IQ4 box for years with no problems. This is just not good enough. The Netfix fault finding guide -from the IQ4 box -also shows no issues. Perhaps we have been 'upgraded' and we have software 'issues'
Each fault finding session takes hours, especially when we keep getting logged out of the system and need to log back into the system to finally get to a real person. This has happened three times this month with numerous resets!
From our experience and other comments on this blog Foxtel is clearly having continuing software issues, or perhaps in addition we need a new IQ4 box. We have been with Foxtel for over 10 years. My impression at the moment is that they provide a substandard service at a very premium price
Love my Foxtel IQ4 – I have had Foxtel for nearly 3 years now have two IQ4 boxes love the update from a few months ago happy to see YouTube now looking forward to when prime video comes and can not wait till IQ5 launches but other than that I also have the nbn unlimited with Foxtel to love my Doco’s really love the ultra HD for the movies and sport just wish there… Read more

Faith redeemed upgrading from iQ2 to iQ4 – I understand why so many people had such disappointment and bad reviews about iQ4, because I was one also complaining too back in 2015. They convinced me to switch back then after moving into a new place, my experience was the same as most bad reviews here, immediately switched back to iQ2 and never look back since. Installed iQ4, tested and… Read more
browse it as fast as like never before to try to find fault, I couldn't. So far, its the best experience. I think the wait is worth it being now we are in much mature streaming age compare to 2015 then streaming service was new. I have a TPG FTTP now, compare to 2015 I was still in ADSL (fastest and most affordable then in AU). TV Guide is in Home button including all other functions which makes sense instead of have a TV Guide button on the remote. The one I used most is the Voice button, I can search any program using my voice without having to type search the program. Love it and it's great! I think you should give it another go, and make sure you are on the top speed internet plan. Enjoy!

Love the choices but not the remote control – I cannot find a stop button on the remote. I find it harder to find where I need to be. It takes longer to get to library and TV guide.
Why is my IQ4 Remote Going through 2 Battery's a Week – Upgraded my IQ3 to IQ4 I would like to know why my Remote goes through 2 AA Alkaline Batteries a Week, Had 1 Remote Replaced and the Second Replacement Remote is worse than the 1st one , I think it is Because the new Remotes for iQ4 have a Blue Tooth Light on the Box and on the Hand Control also Home Light and a Speaker Light always flashing you… Read more
just have to touch it and they light up Going through 2 Batteries a week it is annoying always looking for Batteries this is not normal
Better than the previous units! – Easy to use and has a massive hard drive for recording not only Foxtel channels but also free-to-air channels. It's also convenient to have instant rewind and scheduled program recording. We had an issue with the first box they sent us, however it was replaced with no fuss at all. Show details

The '4K' channel is a farce – We have the iQ4 and a Samsung Tv with 4k. Supposedly have a dedicated 4k channel they would only play 4k shows/program to enable the viewer to properly experience 4k. Instead they are playing movies from any date and certainly not 4k. Why call it you '4k' channel when it plays any and everthing. Show details

1q2 is better – Was forced to change to 1q4 as iq2 will cease operation 2023 for me iq2 has way better functionality and iq4 is backwards in tech i am considering downgrading or getting rid of foxtel altogether now Show details
nothing but crap – the IQ4 box record function is ok but watching the programs u have recorded you can only watch them 1 at a time the IQ3 let you watch the program without having to select the bext after it stops inwish i had never upgraded foxtel is a rip off

Terrible battery life on remote – Was sent a "free upgrade" of my remote which has voice active. Every week or two we have to replace batteries. We get the long life batteries so the cost is getting silly. Today swapped back to our old remote (we rarely used the voice feature) where the batteries could last up to a year Show details
IQ4 OK, BUT added complexity and poor search function – Upgraded my mother from iq2 to a 4 and got a free TV antenna as well because now free to air comes in separately from foxtel, from the antenna. Unfortunately now the search function does not work on free to air stations, only foxtel. Really bad outcome. You have to know now exactly what you want to locate and need a tv guide or scan one program at a time to find what you want. Really challenging for seniors. Show details
Foxtel iQ 4 Voice remote crazy short battery life! – Free remote upgrade from foxtel to voice remote, Just changed back to original as I can't keep up with the replacment battery aspect. Literally have to replace them once a week maybe two at the very best and thats using the best brand battery out there in my opinion. Think this is a product released too soon as they would have to have know it's faults. While it works its just not practical. Show details
Access movies in streaming service – Can't access movie channels in streaming service has some movies there but just says please check back soon but nothing works to fix issues everything is fine working good just steaming movies area Show details
IQ4 not so good – I got a free upgrade to 1Q4. Firstly the new remote has no stop button. I can't record anything from on demand I liked the set up of the IQ2 the best. Bring back that formula please. Show details
Thanks but no thanks! – I work out of home so most of my favourite shows were recorded I’m very happy when they’ve upgraded my remote to IQ4, free! to press 108 (a window asks “return to live tv?”) then stop button (where’s that?). You’ll end up watching Simpsons (Fox8). Obviously, the person who designed this didn’t think this through I might be wrong does anyone know how to stop your recorded show on iq4 remote? I access library on home and just press back to stop.
IQ4 is the worst fun I’ve ever had – Until I “upgraded” to the IQ4, my Foxtel life was uneventful. Now I’m constantly rebooting both boxes as they lose internet connections, drop out in the middle of shows and constantly failing voice remotes. The IQ4 is the most frustrating piece of equipment I’ve ever had and I’m very close to just sending it back and saving my money. Plus: no… Read more

Bye Foxtel – Had an IQ2 for years and Foxtel upgraded us to an IQ4 and that is when the trouble started. play, be deleted or recorded. Numerous phone calls, 100s of resets, factory reboots and software updates and they still will not replace the box. We have excuses every time we ring so have cancelled our service, I not paying for something that doesn't work.
iQ4 review – put simply it’s a dog box nowhere as good as the older model and the way the system is installed you can’t get most free to air channels, basically made our tv room a no go zone and we go to another room to watch FTA Show details
No good – This box has more probs than the iq2.. Cannot get standard definition free to air...and not some channels at all...the worst thing about this machine is the series links DO NOT stay on ..it is a joke...have rang up and keeps happening...also the high def channels sometimes have poor signal quality...which may be antenna issue..with iq2 never had these issues
Latest “upgrade” is a farce – Identical issues as Richard from Queensland for about 5 weeks. It appears that “hundreds” of Users have encountered the same issues. received a call to see if the issue was resolved. Um .... “no”. So, latest fix was to do a complete system reset. Seems to have worked. For now.
IQ3 was far easier to use – Picture quality is better, but user experience is very bad compared to the IQ3. No direct button to tv guide, or saved movies (formerly planner button). Internet connection is not good- all other devices work perfectly fine, as did IQ3. Glad i didn't pay for the "upgrade" Show details
Overpriced Rubbish – IQ4 Always needs a reboot. Msg is "Trying to load content" restart foxtel & reset modem until it happens again ( every couple of weeks).
