Fisher and Paykel Double Oven – I have had this product for past seven years. I have Found it excellent to use and care for. Just love Fisher and Paykel, this oven like my very old same brand washing machine is just a homemakers gem. Thank you Fisher and Paykel. Keep bringing them out and I will keep purchasing.
Terrible – Reading everyone elses review, I have to say mine is the same! Hot spot in the right rear corner, must turn dishes every 15 minutes for even cooking. The oven is very difficult to clean as food seems to splatter so much more in this oven than in any other I've had! When cleaning I end up removing the "self cleaning" panels because you can't get… Read more
oven cleaner on them, then cleaning it all anyway, only to look like you haven't cleaned it at all the next time you use it! For such an expensive oven, it's all looks and no substance! (actually there is substance all over the inside of the thing!) Looks great, two ovens are so convenient. Uneven heating/cooking, splatter, difficult to clean.
Bad – As far as all the appliances we purchased are concerned, each one of them have either failed or needed replacing within the first six months. That includes the cook top, two fridge/freezers, rangehood(replaced twice),oven and dishwasher. I would definitely not recommend this brand or purchase them again. We bought all F@P products for our newly… Read more
renovated kitchen nearly three years ago, because we liked the fact we could match everything, the price was good and i wanted a double functioning oven, and the finish was non marking. Overall, I love having the option of the double function fan forced oven and design Yesterday, after grilling at 150 degrees, with door open, my husband closed the door after removing the food from the bottom oven and the inside glass shattered completely. Of course it is out of warranty, the serviceman is coming to make a report in two days. I am not willing to pay for a new replacement door as this should not happen.
Good – I had a Smeg oven in my previous house and was not all that thrilled with it. When we moved, the new house had a very cheap, very small wall oven that I used once before decided it needed repalcing. Friends had raved about their F & P double ovens so we decided to put them at the top of our list. We were particuarly impressed with the… Read more
textured stainless steel finish on the outside, as it wouldn't show the marks and fingerprints common on regular stainless steel. We also liked the idea of the glass roll out tray in the main oven.
I have not had any problems with splatter or difficulties cleaning my ovens, however, I have never roasted meat in any of my ovens as I find this makes too much mess. I use the BBQ instead.
My father and husband, both regular home handymen, installed our oven about 18 months ago without any difficulties and we have had no problems with it at all. Love the convenience of having two ovens and often find that the smaller one is enough when cooking nightly dinner. The fan runs for a long time after turning to oven off.
Bad – If these ovens cooked evenly, without my help, and vented far less hot air I would be happy with the performance. But...the customer service has convinced me that Fisher and Paykle just don't need my business any more. When the oven was installed I noticed that the bottom door was loose and badly scratched. Three months later...yes, 3 months,… Read more
the supervisor can out to see the scratches. His first comment was "They aren't that bad and don't affect the function of the oven." Hey, it's a NEW oven and 'not that bad' is NOT good enough. Needless to say I can't recommend a Fisher and Paykle product. Sorry! I like having the two separate, yet full funtion ovens and have used them often. They roast well but you do have to watch the bottom oven when baking as it cooks too quickly...use a lower tempature. Looks very impressive. They are the worst ovens for splatter I have ever used. I tried cooking without the fan and still had problems with splatter...even when cooking a meat pie. It's a constant job to keep the ovens clean. Even after using the self cleaning functions the sides look dirty and stained. Second problem, the ovens don't cook evenly (one side always cooks faster than the other) so I have to turn the food during cooking to prevent burning one side. I shouldn't have to do this with a new oven! And lastly, in Summer I avoid using the ovens as much as possible as they vent really hot air into the kitchen during the cooking cycles! That is a crazy system!!
Bad – Determine whether you really need an oven of this size its big! Most of our cooking has been done in the smaller lower fan forced oven/grill. The main oven is woefully slow in heating up to any desired temp. Both ovens have worked 'OK' for the last two years up until now! - Lower oven element has failed $700.00 for replacement including labour. … Read more
Wouldn't you know it, this has occurred just outside the Fisher & Paykel two year warranty period, and as expected Fisher & Paykel not at all sympathetic.
Given the product cost - poor performance - and expensive repairs I'd recommend you steer clear. Don't expect it to last a lifetime - Looks the part - Very expensive - Poor performance - Expensive repairs -
