inacurate temperature – Oven does not heat up to the correct temperature. No one is bothered about it. Not worth the money. It looks good that's all! If they tell you you the only unhappy one please do not believe becouse you are not. I believe this problem goes through all models. We should be able to try it before you buy it! What a disappointment. Show details
Very disappointed with Gaggenau oven and customer service – We purchased our first Gaggenau Oven (BOP220-110) in November last year (2014) after quite a bit of research about ovens. We assessed review after review online and there were mixed reviews (ranging from bad to great) about just about every oven on the market. There were not many reviews online about Gagganau, so we basically made a decision to… Read more
go with Gaggenau (even though we never dreamt of paying that much for an oven) based on their supposed "reputation" and on the strong recommendation by the Sales Manager at E&S Trading in Essendon who said that they were the "Rolls-Royce of ovens". So based on this we weighed up the cost of the oven with the promise of excellence and the hope that we would have hassle free cooking for years - in fact the Sales Manager said we didn't even need an extended warranty because these ovens never break down. Well I have to say our experience couldn't have been further from all of this. Firstly, the oven was delivered to us in a faulty condition and it was clear that the fault was a manufacturer fault. Basically, as soon as the electrician took off the packaging and fitted the oven in place I noticed all this residue on the outside of the glass door, including very thick black silicone overspill on the edge of the glass and on the handle. On closer inspection the interior of the door and the base of the oven all had this silicone residue smudged on them. I called E&S Trading the next day and they asked me to call Sampford IXL (the Gaggenau importer/distributor) which I did and explained everything to them. They re-assured me everything would be ok, they would follow-up and I should definitely go ahead and have the oven connected and use it whilst they followed-up. I followed up immediately with an email and included detailed photos, after some time and repeated follow-up by me they eventually organised to send someone out who was from their service/warranty agency - when I sought clarification about why a service call-out was required when I was seeking a replacement with an oven that was in a first grade state they reassured me that it was just part of their process so that they can document and assess the oven. At no point had anyone told me that they had no intention of replacing the oven and were in fact passing the buck to their service/warranty agency who decided that they would offer a door replacement as a solution (ignoring the residue on the oven base, despite my protestations). I have since followed up repeatedly with them and even went back to E&S Trading who basically said they are powerless to do anything for me because they are just an agent for Gaggenau which they interpret as not having a responsibility to represent the consumer or to demand a replacement product even in cases as clear as these - which is a total crock... because that's definitely not what consumer law says. Anyway, to top it off we have noticed after trying out the oven in a range of circumstances that it does not cook evenly, both on one rack cooking and when you are cooking on two racks simultaneously - I have argued that this may indicate that the oven has not been sealed properly because of the evidence regarding the poorly applied silicone (including overspill) or it may just be that Gaggenau ovens are not as good as they'd like us to believe when asking us to part with a small fortune. At the moment I am in the process of applying to VCAT for a hearing on my dispute, I have told both Gagganau (Sampford IXL) and E&S Trading of my intentions and neither seem to give two hoots. So my conclusion, save your money because at that price you can buy 5 ovens - I am bitterly disappointed with the quality of the product and customer service provided by Gaggenau and E&S Trading.
