Worst tool I have ever used, underpowered and leaks at fittings – Rubbish, straight out the box.. It doesn't clean concrete well and the fittings leak.. Underpowered, slow and poor fittings. I'm a pretty positive person and a duel tradie but this is the worst tool I have ever used for a job. Very disappointed, I only gave it 1 star because there were no minus stars.. Show details

Fix a pulsing Gerni Pressure Washer – The Gerni Classic 120.4 whilst discontinued is a great machine for domestic use. Cleaning concrete, washing decks etc it is a gutsy machine and its pump is metal, not synthetic like some others on the market today. For $200-300 you can do most jobs, anything larger or industrial task will call on you to fork out for a more powerful and naturally… Read more

more expensive machine. Over time, many pressure washers (and coffee machines) across a variety of brands can get clogged from impurities in the water that build up on the moving parts that are critical to it working. Look for other posts in this review site for a broader description, but check out my diagram attached for Start/Stop Valve issues that can either make your Gerni machine pulse on and off relentlessly or stop altogether. Recently a mate's Karcher did the same and although his valve assembly was slightly different, we applied a similar fix to get it working again. I have attached a PDF file that shows you the schematic diagram - its not from a 120.4 but from a 7300 series but guess what? It's pretty much the same valve assembly as the pressure is not much more around 2000psi. Getting the stop/start valve assembly out can be tricky, for some unknown reason a glue like 'loctite' is used to fuse the thread of the nylon assembly body in place. Heat is needed to loosen the glue and it's a fiddly job - see my diagram for tips on how to get it out. If you're not handy or technically minded at repairing things - call a dedicated service agent and save yourself the headache and cost of a new machine if you stuff things up. Gerni these days is no longer owned outright or by Nilfisk in Australia, rather they are owned by Ozito. For the do it yourself person you'll be disappointed calling Ozito as they won't sell you parts - they will direct you to service agents on their website. Good luck and enjoy the Gerni product range as they have a good design and really good accessories such as the pipe cleaner which I have used a number of times.

Pressure indaqeuate – Just purchased today from Bunning seems robust. However the pressure is underwhelming. I guess it hard to gauge what 120.4 PC is in store. Suggest instead using a good jet washer hose attachment would provide a fair chunk of the equivalent pressure despite being a quarter of the cost and and would not use any electricity.  Show details

Worse quality ever – I bought this from supercheapauto when they are on sale. I only use it for about 5 min, water leak from water inlet (where you connect your garden hose to the unit) I took it in, supercheapauto procedure is that only can exchange within 7 days. After that, they will need to call for local warranty service to repair. I can't really accept it as… Read more

it's my first use and it's only 2 weeks, and I need to repair it already.

I rang Gerni customer service, they said I can just took it in for exchange. I told the guy in supercheapauto to ring the Gerni customer service, he refused to call. BECAUSE their procedure is to call local warranty service after 7 days. So I ended up call Gerni and pass the phone to the guy for exchange a new one for me.

2nd one, same thing happen, water leak again.

Manager explained to me that I should either get the refund or get the display one because all those new one came into shop at the same time. So they might all have the same POOR build quality.

So far, the display one works fine. But hope it will last longer.

My conclusion, I should buy it from bunnings as they are much easier for exchange like this. Although the display one is working, I am bit disappointed not getting a new one.

Plenty powerful enough for the home – Very pleased with this - It's plenty powerful enough to clean the driveway, and the patio cleaner works so well! first time using one, for years I've been using just the flat bit and taking hours. Very happy I bought this, I don't think I need a large model as I first thought!  Show reply

This blows (real well!) – EDIT: 10 months later and I still have no complaints. No breakdowns / nasty surprises whatsoever Quite a spitter too if you ask me. Glad I got this instead of the Karcher. If you were anything like me- you rocked up to Bunnings and was faced with a bumblebee yellow and a horrid green. Basically G had better value than K tho it might seem… Read more

that K has better quality an QC (as plenty of comments and reviews put it). Gerni has a stainless steel motor chamber whereas Karcher was plastic. Apparently G would rust even tho stainless steel? Shrugs.

That would be probably in 5 years and isn't an issue at this point for me. Output power and all the attachments suit me marvellously.

Deck cleaner has done a fantastic job

The power spray head cleaned the cars and plastic deck well, and the pressure jet- that got rid of muck easy as!

No problems so far and I love takin it out to do tasks at home.

Great product until it comes to the hand piece – Finally frustrated when the replacement hand piece leaked after only thirty minutes work. Packed it all up and returned it to Bunnings who cheerfully refunded my money. ( What a great company to deal with.) The unit itself is really good at producing pressure and I would venture to say that with the amount of people who have had the same problem,… Read more

the manufacturer must surely know about it by now, and resolve it to save their reputation. At this stage,I've bought an American made unit on ebay, that produces 3500 psi,is heavy duty, has given no problems and cost less than half of what I paid for the Gurni.

Gerni Quality - A good machine, and you get what you pay for – I already had experience with a low-end Karcher machine when I bought this Gerni. The difference in quality is quite amazing. To start with, the Gerni has a metal pump which will last a lot longer. It also runs at a good high pressure. But perhaps what I like most about the Gerni is that it is so ergonomically good...everything, including the… Read more

attachments, has its own little place somewhere on the side of the machine - if not already in use - and it makes the machine easily portable without having to juggle a myriad of attachments separately. Even the liquid soap bottle has a stowage.

The 120PC comes with a pavement cleaner attachment that is remarkably effective in cleaning large paved areas. It is easy to use.

This Gerni model is an excellent product. Danish engineering at its best. Sure it isn't the cheapest model, but like many things, you get what you pay for. A highly recommended product.

GERNIE 120.4 SURPRISINGLY GOOD – The Gernie Classic 120.4 has a pressure rating of 1,740 psi ( 120 bar ) 6m of hose and 2 nozzles 1x fan 1x cone and a 2 piece wand . The motor runs only when the trigger is pressed not all the time. It has a good flow of high pressure water and the unit has a separate detergent bottle which fits onto the wand so you can pre soak things with… Read more

various detergents ( available at the store ) they are $14.00 before blasting off the dirt.

Great for cleaning concrete (with the deck attachment brush or fan nozzle on the wand) also dusty fly screen doors and has just the right amount of pressure to do most household jet cleaning tasks like washing off wasp nests.

The unit i bought has a deck cleaning attachment included in the box for $199.00, ( Bunnings Price March 2015 ) I added a cleaning brush / squeegee for $29 dollars.

The Gerni has a metal pump which seems to work well and has a pretty good duty cycle 1/2 -3/4 hour you should never run any domestic pressure pumps for long periods without letting them cool down ( unless you buy industrial pressure washers ) thats why Karcher has made a water cooled pump. ( at a higher price )

Since I don't know what metal the pump is made from and I'm assuming it is a cast alloy , not stainless , before packing it away for storage I would suggest spray a little CRC 6-66 marine silicone spray (which is a multipurpose marine lubricant and corrosion inhibitor ) into the water inlet before parking it up and give it a quick squirt if not using it for a while, it will help to eliminate any possible oxidisation of the alloy pump internals ( Word of Warning DO NOT USE SOLVENT based SPRAYS like WD40 or similar , this will DAMAGE THE PUMP SEALS ) or if you use the pressure washer weekly or regularly to wash things do nothing at all.

Overall the Gerni 120.4 has good simple features easy to assemble from the box , good value, good duty cycle and pressure , I would recommend this brand/model, based on my experience only, others may disagree but I found it is a good one for the home, not industrial or continual all day use.
