Absolutel cheap rubbish – I would give zero stars if I could. These are absolute cheap nasty rubbish camper trailers. Ive had nothing but multiple issues just like many others. These include: my Alpha 18 months Tool Box leaks. (Lost all items in box) leg snapped off. Poles flimsy. Wiring issues due to cheap & nasty wiring used. Gas struts on the bed broke. Do yourself a favour and give them a miss. Show details
Not what we expected – OK, we bought the Alpha Series camper about 4 years ago. Initially very happy at the prospect of camping trips with the kids and grandkids. Listening to the sales pitch and online reviews made it sound so easy to set up and enjoy. To date I have fixed or replaced the following: 1. Burnt spade connections and bad crimp connectors throughout. 2. 12… Read more
volt sockets were not up to task and were replaced with Anderson plugs. 3. I ended up rewiring the entire camper electrical system so now we have no issues. 4. Annexe very hard to put up. 5. Gas bottle holders do not suit 9kg bottles. 6. The tool box lid leaked badly and the hinges seized. Replaced them with marine grade stainless hinges. 7. I had contacted GIC about a tropical cover, told the cheaper storm cover would work as well and could be left on when packing up. That's a big no. Made to feel I made the mistake and took some time to get a refund. 8. Mattress is ridiculous. 9. Paint chips and flakes easily. Some parts are painted after welding together, add some beach camping and you have rust scale forming all over. 10. It does tow well and after all of the above, my wife and grandkids love it.
Will not buy another GIC camper trailer (2016) – Unhappy with the Poor Quality of materials used. Wheel bearings failed on the first trip. Brisbane - Woolgoolga -Brisbane. Tent is hard to pitch and things like the stitch on straps is of poor quality. Most of the annex straps broken on the first trip. One of the zips broke on the first trip. The water tap on the basin was faulty from new. The… Read more
additional overhead frames are useless and once the fitted you can access the trailer. I did contact the salesman but no real advice or answers. Travel cover needed replacing within 2years Front toolbox/ storage box leaking and letting water in. Needed to drill holes to keep draining.Hinges and sealing edge rusted and seized. Gas bottle and water can holders are really poorly made and very susceptive to rust. Stone guard coating and Powdercoating flaking and in bad shape. A frame silver paint or Galvanising is so thin and rust is appearing everywhere.
Overall I think the trailer has good bones but the add-ons are cheap and bad quality. The trailer looks 10 years old after 4 years and I am in the process of replacing the substandard items with good Aussie made quality steel components and powder coating.
Writing this review to warn others about my Experience with the Alpha from GIC
Heap of crap – There is not one good thing about the alpha. Powder coat is flaking away. Every door/draw leaks heaps of water so much my camp gear has got mould and had to spend hundreds of dollars to replace. Trailer has so much rust for a 3 year old trailer. 100ah battery wouldn't hold a charge from new. Gas bottle holder wouldn't fit a 9kg gas bottle. Front… Read more
box leaks water and is falling apart.sink tap broke straight away. For the first year of owning it I tried to talk to them about the leaks and other issues, wouldn't get a return call or I would get the run around. DON'T BUY ONE. WORST COMPANY.
Loving The Alpha – Ordered on 27/2/19, delivered on 13/3/19 delivered well within the 4 week timeframe, Perfect. Collected from Melbourne showroom in Campbellfield. Sales rep took the time to go over every detail with me and has answered numerous follow up questions I've had. Service has been 1st rate. One issue I had with Anderson plug was fixed within a couple of… Read more
days under the warranty. We've now had 5 trips in this and aside from little issues you would expect to iron out it has been 99% faultless. Has been soaked during rain events at Paradise Valley and Whitfield and stood up well and endured the baking sun in Bright where the multiple windows allowed air to flow through. Was looking forward to 1st interstate trip at the beginning of the year, but the bushfires put paid to that so hauled it to the other side of the state and enjoyed Lake Charlegrark. Provides great storage, ample room in the tent for kids and the dog and the mountain of camping stuff accumulated. Been a great investment for the family trips and only takes around 20-30mins to fully set up once we got the hang of it. Only gripe I have is that the boat rack is difficult to get on and off without another bloke helping as it's bloody heavy! Quite a few trips already lined up for 2020 with the 2nd one just a few weeks away.

extremely poor workmanship – purchased early January 2018 - didn't receive our camper until nearly April. Shorty after arriving home after what was only our THIRD trip with the Alpha, the tailgate completely came off its horribly welded hinges. It has always been stored out of the weather, tailgate never left open for extended periods. we've never stored anything except two… Read more
small gas burners and dishwashing items in there. Yes, they're a cheaper option compared to some on the market, but it's still a lot of money and I would expect a minimum standard for workmanship. Only reply from BS was they're sorry for the "issue" and our 12 month warranty is expired.
Will be repairing and getting rid of it! Don't waste your money!

Lemon – My Lemon story: sorry if its a bit long winded ! I bought my brand new MQ15 BLACK SERIES Caravan in early july last year. From the day i i bought it had issues. The first was finding the wheel bearing seals were leaking grease onto the brakes on both sides....i had driven almost 2000 klms with faulty brakes. When my mechanic came to change them… Read more
with the supplied bearing kits he found the new ones to be the same and also a problem with the brake backing plate. He recommended they be replaced completely> Being a brake problem and a safety issue i expected it would be repaired quickly but not the case...i had to chase them constantly and only had the repair done towards the end of August. That was just the beginning: Awning issue: its too low...the top sharp corner of the door scraped on the vinyl on opening and closing wearing an arc and eventually small holes. Solar system shuts down and malfunctions and cant be relied apon for free camping of grid. Multible leaks through the roof skylight and bathroom. 4 panels had pulled away from the shell with possible water damage behind the electrical where the tv plugs in. Leaking from behind the fridge. Laminate had fallen off in 2 strips and was peeling in others. TV antenae had rusted and seized in position. Water pump to general water burned out leaving me with no water supply to even flush the toilet. or use shower. Where the electrical for solar power is there is a 3 cm hole through the floor and if you were to go through a creek/river water have burnt out the electrical. There are multible other smaller issues !!! I brought my issues to the general manager of BLACK SERIES in Sydney office as they said they needed to handle it. This was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Constant emails and unanswered phone calls....endless promises....i was getting no support from the general manager or this company. I took it apon myself after 7 months of being fobbed off to go and see the general manager face to face in sydney and get some action in place. At first the office staff said he wasnt there so i said i would wait however long...as i walked toward what looked like the office he magically appeared!!!!!! After some discussion he offered me a replacement which i chose not to accept and was then offered a full refund. I asked for it to be put in writing and it was. I even received a deed of settement. But we disagreed on the terms which said they would pick up the van at their cost and i would receive a refund in 10 working days and also contained a non disclosure clause; We ended up agreeing payment would be made similtanious to the picking up of van. Then for 2 1/2 months i had endless promises of a driver coming to pickup...call...even had a confirmed date that came and went...i asked for the drivers number and when i finally got hold him he was in sydney and had no intention of being Cairns to do a pick and was busy with the shows.I found out later the company had asked him to lie and by them time. Thats when i made the final decision to take action myself. I contacted the brisbane office and told them i would arrive Monday morning with my van and would stay until i received the outcome needed. Thats what i did i parked at the Brisbane showroom of BLACK SERIES and there i stayed while the staff worked with Sydney BLACK SERIES office to gain my refund. I came prepared to stay as long as it took with food etc...the Brisbane office staff were great and supportive. I slept in the van onsite that night. I received my refund in full at the end of the second day. Its a shame such lengths have to been taken in order to get what is rightfully yours. These companies BLACK SERIES and the many others alike are quick to take your money and sell you a dream that can quickly become a nightmare. I truly wish i had been aware of this group sooner ..the caravan arv lemons Australian fb group! and i tell everyone i can about it so as to help others avoid being

wait another 6 weeks for new stock, I’d paid them $2000 deposit when ordered it they lie to you they never return phone calls when they say they will, two weeks before I was meant to get the camp I blown up my ute so had to cancel my order and get my money back it’s been 3 weeks now & still no money back they happy to take your money by putting money into there account but when it comes to them giving money back they send you a cheque well I’m still waiting for that cheque that was meant to come two weeks ago they fill ya with bull sh#t telling you there snowed under that’s not my problem I want my money I’ll never bye a camper from gic black series ever & going off a lot of the reviews I’m glad I never got the camper, you will be very silly to bye a camper from this company & by the looks of things I’m going to have lawyers involved as when I do finely get hold of the accounts person he tells me it’s in the post what it take two weeks to post from Sydney to Geelong Victoria bull sh#t I don’t think they have sent it at all, there campers may look good but that’s all the company has going for them they are scamming rogues

Black Series, poor service, bad product, – I purchased the black Series camper from Sydney, with the purchase first of all I was pressured to purchase over the phone. I however wanted and asked several times could I please pay on the day of pick-up. I was told that for my own benefit registration and so forth that it would be in my best intrest to pay now thus easing the process of… Read more
pick-up, already having the number plate on the day would be easier and so forth and more importantly being told it was the last 2017 alpha . So thinking that it was for my own benefit I did. Then only to have to constantly chase them for my blue slip which they said was express posted to me then having a phone call to say that I wouldn't receive my blue slip and to do it on the day anyway because my blue slip was still on the desk in there office, having taken time off to register and pick-up the 2017 alpha, received a blue slip in the mail. Standing in the rta the day before pick-up, ringing constantly to confirm that it was indeed my blue slip and being promised I would have a return phone call but had to keep chasing them only for the rta to confirm my query and confirm the vin to my name. On the day of pick-up 5 days after paying for the camper in full found that there was at least 12 or so alphas left. To make things worse, now the alpha was on sale $810 dollars cheaper than what I paid. Being so excited, I pushed my thoughts aside. Arriving at home back in Newcastle having set up the camper and treating the canvas, checking over the whole thing and being very impressed with the deluxe 12ft tent, starting to set up and check over the camper for a long trip found a loose wheel bearing on the left, the Anderson output from my vehicle which has constant 14.6 volts with vehicle engine running and current draw with other ancillaries plugged in at this same Anderson plug at my vehicle found not to be charging at the battery in the camper and the lcd display not showing correct amps or volts if displaying at all, grommets for harnesses and poor sealing of things which would leave ingress of dust and water, number plate being screwed on crooked, locking latch for the kitchen missing two bolts and the two remaining loose, water tank fittings leaking and many other finer details. Please do not get me wrong, well engineered, very poorly assembled. So after having no communication back, return emails phone calls etc I'm dealing with the issues myself after reading other bad reviews see no point in taking things further . Luckily I am multi traded in the automotive industry and have rectified the issues and checked over everything else left to question I refuse to leave to chance before the first full on upcoming trip with my wife and child. I do not want to be stranded with a major mechanical failure or rely on there wiring to support my ancillaries . Now to find the 2018 alphas are all the time now $810 dollars cheaper than my 2017 alpha. Thankyou black Series. Great customer support. Many other finer issues along the process and the product but these are the ones that stand out the most like the flaking powdercoating and initial corrosion.
Excellent Product and After Sales Service (Warranty) – I found GIC to be pretty good to deal with in regard to the purchase. At no time were they difficult to contact. My trailer was approx two weeks later than originally expected, but they did have a high demand and explained that to me. I had two small warranty repair issues to be dealt with and they were very easy to have fixed. I am in Adelaide,… Read more
so one phone call verified I could get the work done (after a quote was sourced) in Adelaide from a repairer of choice. Repair work done, repairer sent the invoice to GIC, I got the trailer back. Best after sales service I have ever had. We have used our trailer extensively. It has been towed 10s of thousand of kilometers on bitumen and we camp on the Murray River 4 - 5 times a year. To get to these sites we traverse some of the dustiest, muddiest, potholed roads you could imagine. Never had an issue. (Warranty issue was a manufacturing issue). Great Camper and always remember you can pay a whole lot more and get everything gold plated, or you can pay a whole lot less and get what you need. Choice is always yours, so do your homework well. I for one am very happy with the price and quality.
Great value entry-level Camper Trailer and Good Service (Campbellfield Showroom) – Service at the Melbourne showroom was good during our first visit. We were shown the three soft-floor models and were explained in a bit of detail what was included. We walked-away with enough information to continue our research. Our second visit felt a lot more rushed. It appeared that they were under-staffed as there was only two sales people… Read more
and the show room was full with prospective buyers and also a couple of groups picking trailers up. This was a bit frustrating as we had some pretty specific questions this time round but didn't really get the answers in a lot of detail and were really left to just float-around and have another look.
The service when we eventually decided to purchase the Alpha was great. The sales person was very responsive (by phone and email) and was able to answer all our questions. When we picked-up the trailer we had made arrangements to arrive toward the end of the day. Again, we felt really rushed and I didn't feel we were taken through the trailer in a whole lot of detail. It was more a quick run-down of the "extras" that were included and ensuring that everything was there. I understand that it was the end of the day, but it was the time that was agreed and this couldve been a bit more of a detailed hand-over.
Since we've purchased the Alpha, we've had to contact the sales team in Melbourne a couple of times and they've been great! I've had return emails and phone calls assisting with our queries.
The trailer itself - since purchasing it, we've taken it to half a dozen different spots and although it was time-consuming the first time to set-up (fully, including tent and Annex) we are now really comfortable and efficient and can get it done in under an hour. We've been rained-on a few times and have had no leaks. I've had to tighten the locks on all the storage compartments too. We also had an issue with the sink trap recently - it had a crack in it where the sullage hose attaches. I contacted our sales person in the Melbourne showroom and 2 days later he sent out a brand new one and was very apologetic and helpful.
The value for money for this camper is great! We did our homework and wanted to buy Australian made, but the cost of those were well over three times the price.
This trailer is Chinese, and in a few spots where the tent attaches to the trailer it looks a bit messy. But everything else (on ours) has been fine so far and for the price, we're really happy.
Looking forward to many more fun trips with the family.
Black Series - Lack of after sales service – Hi Folks, The down side of buying a Black Series from GIC, Customer Service is non-existent. So much enjoyment at having our long thought of brand new camper was taken away by the actions of the company when it came to a simple request to provide a repair kit for the 4 holes in the brand new never been used tent. Facts are. They did… Read more
not follow up as promised.
We were openly lied to about the availability and timing of repairs
3 months later and still no word from GIC (Black Series).
We were told $600 for delivery and convinced to drive to Sydney to pick it up. We should have checked as delivery was only $400 and this was way less than the lost wages and time spent driving to Sydney.
We were promised that we would be shown how to set it up if we came to Sydney. When there we were told there was an excellent 15 minute video on YouTube and to look at that.
Video is only just over 7 minutes and demonstrates an older tent, not the one we had.
No instructions or diagrams on where the poles go were provided. We needed to look them up on the net.
In the end following months in inaction we files a case with Fair Trading. They requested information from GIC and were ignored. This then escalated the matter to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT)
Prior to the scheduled NCAT hearing, Black Series (through their Operations Manager) offered to settle by paying my petrol to return the trailer to Sydney for repairs. I declined at which point I was told not to make an enemy of them. They then went on to say that my assertion that the salesman who sold me the trailer could not have said what he did as he does not exist. Apparently they had no-one there by his name so I would lose at the Tribunal. Strangely the receipt I have was signed by the very person who does not exist. Not sure how they expected to get away with that one. They finished by stating they believed they had a good case and would be winning at the Tribunal.
Our complaint has been to the NCAT in Sydney. GIC did not even bother turning up and they lost. I managed to make it form Canberra to Sydney for the hearing but they could not make it from the next Suburb.
The Tribunal ruled the trailer was not fit for purpose and was to be repaired by GIC in that they were to replace all affected panels. NCAT stated the law is very clear in that it is their responsibility to pick it up, fix it and return it. The consumer is not responsible for returning it as it is classified as a bulky item not easily posted. They were subsequently ordered to pickup the trailer, (at their expense), from Canberra on or before March 23 to affect the repairs. They were further ordered to have the trailer returned to Canberra, (again at their expense), by no later than April 10.
GIC's response to these orders has been to ignore them, in the same way they ignored the Fair Trading Tribunal. No-one has contacted me to organise picking up the trailer and I am guessing no-one will. The next step is to have the NCAT orders registered by the court in NSW and once that is done the Sherif's department acts to collect moneys and/or services.
What GIC (Black Series) may not have considered is that the NCAT orders gave me leave to reappear and elect to return the trailer for a full refund if GIC did not adhere to the orders. End result will be that it may have cost me a few hundred to fight them but GIC will be ordered to refund my money and they will have further tarnished what is already a declining reputation over issues that could so easily have been solved if they had simply done the right thing.
After today I will be filing for my refund as this company is atrocious to deal with. They may believe they have a great product but their after sales means if you have a problem they will either ignore you or simply lie to you as they have to me. No matter how good the product on something like this I would say don't take the risk. Shop elsewhere.

Great customer service, great camper and on time! – Camper trailer was delivered on time to the day and with just fantastic customer service...helpful, fast and polite. which isn't good and you have to do the registration yourself, but i was told this is changing with their "showrooms" interstate becoming delivery points. Camper's are made in China (apparently their factory), assembled here and they're up front about this but they offer great value for money. Be prepared and not naive that they may not be the $24K Aussie made equivalent but they're 90% of them at 33% of the price. Back this up with good customer service which from my experience to date is fast, friendly and helpful, you can't ask for more or get any better at this budget.
Outstanding service!!! Could not be happier – 2 weeks ago I called and ordered a commando. They told me pick up would be in 4 weeks. I asked if I could have it in 2 weeks so I could use it on my annual leave. When I picked it up, the staff were amazing! Very friendly, very helpful. They spent time with us explaining everything, giving us tips etc.
The trailer was spotless, I checked all hinges, struts, draws etc. everything was tight and well built.
It towes like a dream, very solid.
I can't wait to open it up next week on our family trip.
Overall, my experience was almost too good. I kept anticipating something going wrong after reading some of the negative reviews.
Glad I went with my gut.
Big shout out to the Sydney crew, you guys were awesome to deal with.
You have a customer for life..... Or at least as long as I keep camping ;)
Should Have Got One Earlier – Despite the long wait for our unit we really do enjoy our trailer. The unit is well constructed and the 12 foot tent has ample space. The trailer has plenty of storage space and it's a breeze towing it around the Sith Western corner of Australia. I would recommend a Black Series to anyone who is keen on getting a camper. Good value for the price.
Crap after service – Brought a alpha camper got it home and gas bottle bracket welds broke and powdercoat started flaking of tail gate, all the locks needed adjusting as nothing was tight or sealed. Rang and asked for another gas bottle bracket and was told it would be sent and after checking tracking number which doesnt exist and 10 days later still no bracket.… Read more
