Had the Gidget Noosa since 2016 and it’s sensational. Always a curiosity due to is innovative & retro design – A keep sake for our children but resale is a premium to those paid at time of purchase. Not changing hands often and proving to be a terrific holiday investment. 9 month journey was amazingly comfortable. Show details

What to do? Gidget tear drop retro camper- Noosa. 2 years since putting down a deposit and still no – We were so excited with our ordering The Noosa. In anticipation for the 1st date pick up Nov 2016, we organised leave from work and a family commitment around this date. We had the car ready for a road trip to Queensland from Victoria to pick up our little Gidget. We invested in our then car with modifications to tow it safely. In our enthusiasm… Read more

we also purchased the recommended awning, as well as a gas bottle, a DVD player an air cooler. It came to November I contacted the company to establish the details around us collecting our Gidget.

Unfortunately there was a staffing and production issue. There was even a workplace accident. We took on the chin, felt for an Australian business getting off the ground, felt for them with a string of bad luck and that maybe had under estimated their popularity and time frames.

Late 2016, we put our money up by paying in full as part of an incentive called "crowd based funding"(cbf). This was to allow the company to increase the size of their premises, purchase equipment and streamline productivity. As part of our investment in the cbf our production date was bought to the forefront, the date March'17. We took the gamble.

So now we sort out annual leave again and do a stock take of our gear. Do a complete reshuffle of our garage, including a garage sale, donations etc, to be able to store our little Gidget. We continue with collecting the kit to fit out our anticipated treasure along with some creature comforts. It gets to March we are advised in a general email by the company that they are going great guns with other models even expanding over seas. However the suppliers of the Noosa axle have used a substandard product and the dates can not be confirmed for collection.

So it comes we are advised of a 3rd date 19 Dec 2017. We have another car car so we arranged for the suitable towing modications to be done, we asked to be kept in the loop if there were any changes in advance. So we put in for annual leave, fingers were crossed as there is no down time over Christmas new year in both workplaces. Names were drawn out of a hat. My husband reorganises he work trip to align for this date. So on the off chance we call. The response we receive is as follows- the axle manufacturers are using a substandard product again, there could be legal action, there are workplace issues with the foreman, staff are resigning. The company is now owned by a US company. The people that were in the CBF who were scheduled for November pick up have all been advised and we have not advised the December pick group as yet. The maths were calculated 18 Noosas for November times 12 days production, approximately 6 months delay. If the fabrication company stop putting demands and putting Gidget on the back burner. Maybe!
