horrible system – keycard does not allow access to car if reservation was made/modified in less than 24 hours. horrible system. waited 30 mins and still waiting as I am typing this for a call back from the technician to fix this. i have now given up and taken an uber. unbelievable. use flexi/ go get instead.
Is the perfect service if you need a car share – Usually I book the car for short term travel and car are easy to locate and also easy to access by public transport. Customer services reply on time when I need help on it. The car conditions are good and the car that I booked equip with Apple CarPlay which easier for me to use it.
Unreliable access to vehicles, poor customer service – Used the service regularly for 2 years. Vehicles bookings are unreliable and have left me waiting in the rain unable to access the vehicle on multiple occasions. If you need the car to get to the airport or anything important, avoid this service at all cost. Poor customer service, unwilling to provide refunds even when booking issues were caused… Read more
by the company itself. Customer service on weekends is non-existent as it is outsourced to a 3rd party.

The best service and care – I’ve been using GREENSHARECAR for a while, everytime I visit Melbourne I use their services - The companies level of professionalism is unparallel, they really put effort in for the customers - Every car I used has been in peak condition, I’ve never encounted a issue - I required assistance for my first booking, and they were quick to respond and… Read more
very attentive. Would definitely recommend greensharecar to people who want to explore the city or wherever with ease!
Some hiccups, but resolved in the end – I've rented from Green Share Car several times over the course of the past year. In general, the vehicles are clean and functional, with a good selection of vehicles. I recently had an issue similar to ones others have mentioned on here regarding returning the vehicle and finding the space occupied by someone else. I followed the instructions… Read more
in the manual to call GSC, and someone did ring me back promptly on a Sunday, instructing me to get a photo of the vehicle in the spot, and to park in a nearby legal parking location. I did that, sent the photo in to GSC along with information about where the vehicle was parked, and thought we were all good. Unfortunately, seems there was a miscommunication with the phone operator, and GSC charged my credit card for $550 + admin fees for leaving the car not in it's spot. I did get in touch with them, forwarded them the e-mail I had sent to them over the weekend, and in the end they've agreed to refund the money and put my account in good standing, which I would consider a positive outcome.
So: good cars in my experience, a few hiccups with customer service communications, but they've been communicative and willing to square everything up with me to continue having me as a customer.
Perfect for when you just need a car every other weekend! – I've been with Green Share for a number of years, and have loved it! The weight that lifted off my shoulders when I first joined was eye opening - knowing I didn't have to worry about expensive car maintenance services again, I didn't have to wash the car, nor worry about having enough money on me to cover costly petrol. Over the years, there have… Read more
been only a couple of little hiccups (including the previous driver not having the car back on time and a flat battery), but each issues was acknowledged and rectified straight away. I would and do recommend this service to everyone!
Negative reviews
3+ years in the market and they can’t make a single customer happy – Tried to book their service 4 times on two separate occasions and every time there was something wrong with their cars. I wasted time, money and energy with this company but never again!
Slow, ineffective and misleading support – Worst car rental service ever! Better off paying a little extra then to talk to their non existing support! Elaborated Two incidents. 1. Booked a car last year, when I went to fill petrol the petrol card couldn’t be used, had to claim. Emailed support told me they would credit my bank acc but after a few weeks nothing happen emailed them again… Read more
another employee told me they won’t give me refund in money but just their booking credits. I was then furious with the mislead and slow response emailed to ask why but never bothered a reply.
2. Last month I tried deactivating my account the email said it won’t deactivate immediately as it needs to process and once it’s done they will notify me. Fast forward to today one month later no email no nothing. Even when I haven’t used it since last year end and no longer need it. How is deactivation that hard of a process that you still can’t deactivate?
Horrible service – I booked a car, and unfortunately, when the car was parked, someone smashed the window and stolen some objects. I contacted Green Share Car and my problem started. An awful support, and they simply didn't reply emails. In the end, they charged me more than a thousand dollars. They "sell" a fake service about insurance. This is the truth.

They kept all my bond – Do you want to lose all of your bond? If not then avoid Greensharecar. Disgusting service. They hit me with $500 of arbitrary fees that magically equaled the bond amount of $500. Go with a different car share company. This one is pathetic.
Have used GREENSHARE for 3 years but they really are USELESS – PROS -convenient locations -they have VANS -prices seem competitive CONS -the last two times we used GREENSHARE the vans wouldn't start. On the last occasion we were made to go to South Melbourne to get another van (we were in the CBD). We were bumping into a trade show so it added another level of stress to the day. We were told we would… Read more
be reimbursed for the cost but ended up being charged twice.
-lack of service after hours
-we have had issues roughly 50% of the time, especially after hours, on a sunday when our shows typically end. The last thing you want to do is wait around for someone to call you back because the van won't start (again)
-we will never use GREENSHARE again after our last experience which was bad on the first day of the show and terrible on the last day.
-Billing seems inconsistent. I feel I was charged multiple times on occasions when the van didn't work and we were promised to be not charged.
Terrible ... couldn't get the car to start – Had to wait for someone to assist in getting the car to start. After a brief stop for a bite of lunch, I was left stranded because the car refused me access. Spent 2.5 hours trying to sort it out. Be prepared to abandon car and get a taxi.
Absolutely terrible customer service, hidden/unexpected charges, no refund, no escape – Absolutely terrible customer service, they never get back to you, they never answer calls and cancelling your subscription is nearly impossible, so they keep sucking money out of you every year, despite you not using their services. Steer clear, as soon as they catch you - they never leave you alone

Robbery - they take money from your account without consent – They deducted an additional $66 from my account after there were problems with the booking as a result of their systems. Moreover if you need to reach them out of hours during your booking (e.g. to get the car running after it has been wrongfully immobilized) their number goes through to an unhelpful message taking service - not a representative… Read more
of Green Share Car. I have been emailing for weeks to dispute the charges and they are extremely slow to respond (only doing so after several follow up phone calls and then failing to address my concerns). I am continuing to dispute the charges, will be making a formal complaint against Green Share Car if they fail to refund the money unfairly taken from my account in contravention of their own User Agreement.
I can't believe this company exists – I've used the company twice, both times they've taken more money out of my bank without letting me know, with no reply to my email when I've questioned why. They have a no refund policy amongst many other hidden policies which will cost you more than you bargained for. Day light robbery!
Unless you are looking for a company to steal money from your account DO NOT USE GREEN SHARE CAR! – I'd leave negative stars if it was possible. I've never in my nearly 50 years experienced such utter disregard & contempt for customers. Unless you're after random, undisclosed, deductions of your money, unless you're keen to have unsubstantiated accusations and the resulting fines levelled at you, and unless you're happy to call for weeks on… Read more
end without a single person, other than the lovely receptionist, taking or returning your call, DO NOT use this company.
Hidden charges and changes in policy before notifying people – When, I took the membership they didn't tell that I need to pay for termination as well. Now in total I have given them the following apart from my actual usage: 1- $ 55 New application processing fee 2 - $55 Annual membership fee 3 - $55 Cancellation fee It was a good service, now has become worst. Its better to buy an old car and use.
Devil is in the detail. Beware people! Hidden charges – Was enticed to sign up for Greenshare, and initially it was alright. Cars were mostly clean and new. Then came their ludicrous policy changes which were quietly announced in late 2015. They then automatically renewed my membership without consent, and charged me an annual fee. (This wasn't implemented when I first signed up in 2014). … Read more
When I opted to cancel the membership, they slapped an extra $55 for cancelling the membership that I did not opt to renew or consent to renew.
Completely an unfair business practice, hope the ACCC or Consumer Affairs gets onto it!
Started out alright, the last year I have seen deterioration of service – I don't think Green Share Car started out as bad. The website is alright, and I quickly drove around happy with their cars. Until I rented a van without a mirror on the right. Why would you not take this van out of service? It's dangerous. Then I noticed an error on their website, where some of the pricing would be off. I notified them 3 times… Read more
to get this fixed and never got a response.
Suddenly 55 dollars charged! I checked my emails, but I never received any information about this. Is this legal?
Go with one of the other guys. Green Share Car don't have that many cars anyway. The only reason I signed up was that there was no yearly fee, but now that advantage is gone aswell.
Terrible- randomly introduces new fees, then charges credit card – When I joined, there was no annual fee. But then, as per other reviews, they secretly added a $55 annual fee and charged my credit card without permission. They would not budge an inch on cancelling the membership and refunding the $55 they charged. In the end, Consumer Affairs Vic recommended I do a credit card chargeback which got me my… Read more
money back.
Luckily my credit card had expired by this stage, otherwise they would probably have tried to also charge me the $55 cancellation fee!
Totally agree they are a rip off - ACCC really needs to investigate these guys – Like other reviewers, my credit card was charged $55 without my knowledge and they claimed that they would also charge $55 for terminating the membership. I pointed out that consumer laws do not allow such unfair terms in standard form contracts. They were rude and unpleasant. NEVER join these guys, they are such a rip off. I never used any of their cars, not even once and they refuse to refund the $55 charged without my consent.
My “Lifetime Membership” lasted less than 4 years – In 2012, I paid Green Share Car for a Lifetime Casual Membership. Imagine my surprise to discover that "Lifetime" only means a few years. Have been charged a $55 annual fee. Customer service was woeful. Refused to refund their new annual fee and was told it was my fault for not reading their emails. Yet I would have read a letter, if one had… Read more

I no longer regard Green Car Share as a reputable company and would be happy to hear that someone has taken them to Consumer Affairs Victoria. I didn't keep a copy of the T&C when I became a member otherwise I would myself.

All they need is a fuzzy Member User Agreement email to misuse your credit card details – GreenShareCar (GSC) sent an email titled "Important Changes - Member User Agreement" sometime in June 2015. No subsequent email or notification was sent since, before they charged me the newly introduced $55 annual membership fee in October 2015. Note that when I first registered, I specifically chose the option that does not require a membership… Read more
fee. Looking back to the email mentioned, there was no mention of any new charges on the email title. Their headline article when you open that email was "Got an issue? Quick report it on the GSC Companion App!" The section that actually talks about the ALL IMPORTANT new $55 membership fee was cleverly hidden as a sub-article at the bottom. The overall email itself was structured as a standard newsletter that you might have received from a hundred other vendors and services you might have signed up with. I am guilty of not reading every of those newsletters that come into my inbox.
What annoyed me the most was it was clear that their intention was to not highlight the part that mentions the new membership fee, and not sending any reminders. They wanted to catch us off guard. When queried about the whole situation, their response was "simply by ignoring the advice does not mean you avoid the fee."
Prior to this, I was a strong advocate for GSC before I had buy my own car due to an addition to the family, but the way they handled the introduction of this new membership fee was just dodgy. GSC may have played within the legal boundaries, but their integrity is in question and no longer will I ever recommend GSC to anyone ever.
No notification of significant change to Member User Agreement - this will cost me $55 – GreenShareCar changed their Member User Agreement (MUA) last October (so I have been told) although I can't confirm as I never received a copy. I joined years ago on a special deal which included no annual fee - ever. I have been an infrequent user in the past but was quite happy with the times I borrowed a car. Have just discovered a $55… Read more
charge on my credit card. Contacted GreenShareCar who sent a form email (addressing me incorrectly) in response saying that since I hadn't taken advantage of cancelling my membership when they changed their MUA, the $55 would stand but instead of it being my annual fee, they would take it as my cancellation fee. My details were up-to-date so I was easily contactable.
Reading the recent reviews makes me realise that I am not the only customer caught out.
So, GreenShareCar, in future, instead of recommending you as I have done in the past, I'll be telling everyone to steer clear of you.
Charged unagreed amounts – After being a member with no annual fee. They introduced an annual fee and charged it to my account without notifying me. Apparently they sent an email to its member. Completely unacceptable. They have your mobile number and home address. Give people a call and/or send a letter. When I asked for it to be cancelled and refunded they charged me the $55 cancellation fee that I also wasn't aware of.
Be aware of "Termination of Membership / Plan" fee – I was with this company for a year, and when I was about to stop my membership, I realized that they charge me $55 Termination of Membership fee. On their website, they advertise that there is not joining fee, which is literally true. Yes, there is no joining fee, but here is TERMINATION FEE! would charge $55 extra to stop the membership. I just want to make sure that everyone who wants to join this company knows about this membership termination fee before subscription.
You cannot find this information anywhere on their website, but only on their Membership User Agreement. (http://www.greensharecar.com.au/files/memberuseragreementversion3.1.pdf)
Read it very carefully, especially about the fees and charges, before application! BE AWARE!
Mr Family Man – Green Share Car just increased their kilometres per trip up to 150 which is great for me. I enjoy driving the Hyundai’s - they are easy to drive, smooth and its great how they have the option of being completely automatic or tiptronic AND what… Read more
I love most about the service is they include FUEL which each booking. AMAZING! Their fuel card is so easy to use. Haven’t had a problem! I really recommend this service to anyone.
If i can drive a van - ANYONE can! – I've used a GreenShareCar Hi Ace Van to transport some furniture I purchased online. I called up their head office and they opened up the vehicle for me on the spot. Easy to organise. Easy to drive. Beats… Read more

rental credit to you. Because automatically, the plan for you as rich person is standard plan which means you are paying AUD 1200 annually. No biggie since you are very rich. And Green Share Car will put expiry date unknown to you to the rental credit whenever they like. If Green Share Car see that you are TOO RICH, then they will put expiry date to the rental credit as soon as possible. Could be a day or an hour after your credit card got charged with the monthly rental credit. There is no transparancy to you as customer because these charges will run at the back end and because Green Share Car send you thousands of emails to confuse you and assuming that you would not see it due to your SUPER RICH status. Even the customer service will have problem consolidating the charges. No problem to you since you are SUPER DUPER RICH. To cancel, you need to send email to them and return the card back. Of course, Green Share Car won't reply to your email soon. They will take their time because they are also super busy in consolidating the emails and charges of multiple customers from only 10 customers in their list EVER!!
If you are [name removed], this Green Share Car is for you!!!!
Truly excellent, highly recommend it – If you're looking for reliability, availability, transparent capped pricing and a excellent booking system, then I totally recommend GreenShareCar. price per km) and I really like the capped pricing.
I have explored a number of different car share options (GoGet, Car Next Door, car hire) and find none of them beat GreenShareCar for availability of cars, upfront pricing (you don't pay extra for insurance and fuel, unlike car hire) and consistent cleanliness. I have never had an issue with customer service and find the assistance prompt and useful.
This is a very good option for the casual user.
Convenience on the surface, rort when problems occur – These guys (& so far everyone on the helpline has been an arrogant, surly guy) take the concepts of self-service and self-reliance to the extreme. The 1st few trips on this service were uneventful. The convenience is assured. The last 3 have been unacceptable. The worst trip experience followed return of the vehicle to its Carlton spot but it was… Read more
taken by a private vehicle.
There's nowhere nearby with free parking and so I parked in a timed zone, dutifully photographed the number plate and proceeded to call the ironically named help line. In the meantime, the driver of the private vehicle had witnessed me and approached. He was big and angry and video-ing me with his own phone, shouting "have you got something to say for yourself?". I started with "well I'm afraid if I don't provide a photo I could cop the fine..." but he was too angry and I moved away from the scene quickly to get away from him, onto a tram.
Upon discussing my fears with Greensharecar on the tram, it was suggested that I should go back to defend the space. Yes. It was suggested I should go back, face the angry man and for my money loyally defend Greensharecar! I have the later somewhat conciliatory txt msgs. that state "as a member" it's not a Greenshare space, it's my space. O.O.
Warning; call-centre staff will tell you if you don't go back it will cost you about $60 for the pleasure of someone moving the vehicle on a weekday, as well as any parking fines incurred before it can be moved. Moving the vehicle is less costly for users but not free. You have to rebook the vehicle at your own expense to unlock it. Apparently Greensharecar are *just benevolent types who graciously buy up public parking for the members*; until you are advised your incentive for doing the job of staff they don't have is to avoid their outrageous fees for your not inconsiderable trouble. The opposite of convenience. I didn't accept that response and my subsequent poor experiences affirm I'm better off with one of the other services.
false advertising – Quoted $60 for journey, was under kms, under time, no damage etc charged $150. No advice as to additional charges, no warning etc. Didn't have $150 in the account so charged a $10 failed payment fee. Then charged $44 because the car was under half full when bought back despite no instructions as to how to use fuel cards being supplied. Total cost for $60 trip is closer to $200
The Best Idea Ever! – I live in the city, smack bang in the centre of Melbourne and do not own a car. The GreenShareCar system allows me to forget about the day to day expenses of owning my own car where I'm able to get around the city and even further by choosing a variety of vehicles in very close proximity to where I live. I've used the cars for a year now and… Read more
love it! I'm actually astonished by the concept of the GreenShareCar and always get stopped by people on the street on how the cars work. I think I even convinced one guy to sell his car the other day and use GreenShare as he was weighing up insurance, servicing and rego on his on vehicle over the year. There's an abundance of vehicles located all over Melbourne city even vans and wagons which is very useful. The weekly wild car program for customers is always a treat as well. It's an affordable service, you're well looked after with fuel and insurance. So easy to access and book via the web at home or on your smartphone. I find it hassle free and if it's great for the environment that's got to be a good thing right? It would be interesting to see if the GreenShareCar's spread out into the suburbs around the bigger shopping centres maybe? Overall it's a great idea, concept and service. Keep it up guys! Cars are available when I want them 24/7. Hassle free booking of cars. Reliable, cars are of a high standard. Nothing to be honest, does get annoying however when you return the car to it's parking bay and someone else parks their car in the bay illegally.
Good value -- good service – Now that I am in my third year of car-share, I can look back at the simple mathematics which made me change. Annual cost of owning a car and renting a garage: $4,000.00. First year's annual cost of using a share car:$400.00. Less money spent. Less carbon-dioxide produced. One less car on the road. Availabiliy: what I want when I want it. Occasional scruffy car and/or empty fuel tank.
Way better than other rentals. Car always clean and customers service is alright
