I recently used Herbatint for the first time. After reading reviews about irritation was a bit scared. But found the color extraordinarily rich color. Yes deeper tone than on the box but pleasantly surprised. The snafoo came with the conditioner. Since I was in high alert after the other reviews I noticed almost immediately the horrible drying… Read more
damage and tingle the conditioner was doing I rinsed it off immediately and used Dove deep repair mask. Much better! In my opinion it is a chemical reaction with the conditioner and not the color process. Love my color will use 8R again but totally toss the conditioner. Hope this helps others. Also as I have very fine strawberry blonde hair cut the time down to about ten to 15 minutes. Also the color thickens after a few minutes for better application.
Worse product I have used in terms of application. Splatters like no one's business. It's so drippy and splattery that I have permanent stains all over new bathroom. I've never had this issue before. Won't use again

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!! I have been highlighting and colouring my hair for years. I started growing my hair out and wanted a colour to match my natural regrowth. I chose 7N as i thought it would perfectly match my natural colour which is a dark blonde. In the first place the colour was brassy and orange and not at all what I thought I… Read more
was getting and secondly it chemically burnt my scalp! Every part of my skin that the colour touched is red, sore, raw and now flaking off. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

If you’re like me and you have a habit of turning your hair orange I am here to save you lol. I avoided Herbatint for a long, long time because there seems to be a lot of bad reviews, I’m not saying they’re not legit, but you really should do the patch test just to be safe, that’s what it’s for. I have tried 7N and 7D and they turn out… Read more
beautiful, just like the picture, and it looks so natural, not like you’ve just dyed your hair. I’m always amazed at how uniform the colour turns out too, none of this ‘light roots and dark stained ends’ a lot of dyes seem to do.
But back to the orange hair. I decided to use a different dye I had bought some time ago, and like a lot of dyes it turned my hair orange/brassy, and in the past this has just led me to dye it again, and after a few washes it is orange again, and the cycle continues, I haven’t been able to find a dye that completely cancels out the brassiness.
Then I decided to use Herbatint 5C light ash chestnut. Tbh I was worried it was going to turn out very dark, and it kind of did and I was having a moment of regret, but I think you need it dark to cover the orange. But after just one wash it faded a little and then became this beautiful, ashy brown and it’s been about three weeks now and it hasn’t faded much at all and no orange in sight, it looks like my natural hair colour just shinier and prettier as you’ll see in the photo.
I also have quite a few gray/stubborn white hairs now and they are still completely covered as well! I’m so impressed I had to share because there aren’t that many photo reviews of 5C out there.

Allergic reactions – Its not totally natural. Im having severe allergic reactions to this hair dye. You can see my pics and my face that I have right now. Show details
Love it! – First time I've used this product, (Swedish blonde) will never use anything else again. I found it to be better than a salon tint. No orange or brassiness. Hair a little dry but nothing a good conditioner won't resolve Show details

I tried it as an African American female and it colored darker than I expected the 5N Light chestnut. It smell good and seem gentle on the hair although its probably for Caucasians. It was worth a try I love herbal extracts in my hair, so I will see results with time. Works immediately on grey hairs! Show details
Great product - extremely happy. Long time user – I'm sorry to read some people have had a bad experience with this product. I've been using it for about 4 years and am really happy with it. I have dry, thinning (after menopause) hair and Herbatint always delivers a great result with good grey coverage and it leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny. I have not had that experience with other… Read more
products containing ammonia. I use 7R Copper Blonde on my mid-dark brown hair and it always comes out beautifully - I've had many comments from people saying what a great colour my hair is. I re-do every 3-4 weeks, which I certainly couldn't afford to do at the hairdresser. Because I have short hair, I only have to use half of the 2 bottles each time, so for me, it's great value.
Herbatint worked best for me – I have been using Herbatint for over 10 years and I never had a problem. I was allergic to every other hair dye and I tried many. Show details
Negative reviews
Terrible product! I experienced nausea and vomitted eventually the first time I used this product. On the second application, I became light-headed a few minutes after I applied it on my hair then felt stomachache, so had to wash my hair straightaway. The colour is darker than it should be and my hair was very dry. Plus, there is no expiery date on the pack. Strongly not recommended! Show details
Hair loss and damaged – I normally have my hair professionally coloured. However, I was out of town and needed to colour my hair so I purchased this from a health shop thinking that it wouldn’t harm me. I didn’t have any skin reactions and it didn’t tingle my scalp like the ones my hairdresser used. However, a lot of my hair has fallen out around my temples and forehead.… Read more
My hair is now brittle and damaged. The colour was also a lot darker than advertised I would not recommend anyone to use this product.
Colour not accurate with unwanted red hue – My haircolour is naturally light brown/blond. First time using this product I used golden blond colour. My hair turned orange. After a few months the red faded out and it was a lovely colour. The second time I wanted to lighten my roots but avoid red so I used plain blonde colour. My hair turned medium brown with a reddish hue. I'm really unhappy with the result. Today I had to pay more to have my hair stripped. Show details

Don’t use – My mother used this product for her hair and it caused so much irritation to her skin and also the smell caused her eyes to be watery and itchy so much that we spend the whole night in emergency. They washed her eyes, but she still had so much itchiness and she couldn’t open her eyes three days after. She had so many follow up appointments with… Read more

Perfection – The best experience with hair color ! First pass at DIY and it is gorgeous natural and above all my hair feels soft . I am self proclaimed devotee forever ! Thank you Herbatint Show details
I love that you can mix 2 colours and keep the rest for next time – I use 7N and 8N half of each , I get the perfect colour to cover my grey. If i get any on my skin, it comes off with wet wipes. I've never had a reaction, it leaves my hair very soft and healthy looking. I re colour every 4 to 5 weeks as I am very grey. I wash my hair every 2 to 3 days. I can't afford to go to the hairdresser that often, so it's very affordable for me at $20.00 on discount days at go vita. Show details
5M Light Mahogany – The older I get the quicker the greys are coming back. I couldn't afford to keep going to the Salon so I was looking for a Natural Hair Dye. I never read the reviews just found it in my local Health Food Shop. I liked it, I haven't had any hair loss or burning sensation so I am really surprised to read the below reviews. My hair feels great no… Read more
dryer than usual at the ends its been 3 weeks and no greys are showing yet. I only wash my hair once a week maybe twice if I am going out. It is very messy though but easy to apply
Developed an allergic reaction – I wish I did the patch test as I developed a bad allergic reaction after using this product. My whole scalp is itchy and area around forehead and ears are all red and skin feels really tight. Pls do the patch test if you wanna use this product Show details
Turned my naturally Blonde Hair bright Orange! – I wanted to lighten my roots, and used the Ash Blonde, well..... My hair is now shocking orange! Complete waste of money and very misleading on their website. Show details
WARNING!! – I’ve dyed my hair at the salon and at home and have never had an issue. I bought Herbatint as I thought it would be better to go the natural route. MY HAIR FELL OUT as I was washing it out. I now have a BALD spot. Please please do not use this product. Show details
DON´T IGNORE THIS REVIEW!! – I have been using hair colours for years and I thought that it would be best to go the natural way which led me to Herbatint (which turns out is far from natural) The first thing I noticed was the burning so I left it on way less than the recommended time, the immediate hair loss was disturbing and the colour way way darker than the colour on the… Read more
box, I bought 5N and its now practically black. My hair is still falling out aggressively which is no way just a coincidence. If you want hair loss, brittle hair and a dodgy colour then go ahead and buy Herbatint.
Brassy and damaged – This left my hair brassy .Scalp and hair is very dry. Not great at all. The model on the box has very dry hair too. Regret using. Contacted company but got 0 reply. Very upsetting. Hair is breaking and tangled alot. I get lots of matted hair too. Show details
Damaged hair – I used it on my roots only to cover first greys on natural brown hair as a gentle option. If I just plucked out all the greys instead, I would’ve lost less hair than due to this dye. Left hair damaged and many hairs broke and fell off. When brushing, I noticed pieces of hair on the floor and lots of short hairs on my head pointing in all… Read more
directions. Color faded quickly and became lighter than my base(it lifted the color, even thought I used darker level) I also developed a red rash on my face near ears. Not sure, if this product caused it, but it’s not excluded. Don’t recommend.

Great Product – I'm very happy with Herbatint. Been using it for about a year now. Not many hair colour dyes on the market that don't have the nasties in it. So I'm grateful to be able to use this product. Lovely grey coverage and pleasant smell. My hair doesn't come out dry or frizzy at all, like some of the other reviews. I do advise to go a shade or two lighter as colour comes out darker than the package photos. Show details
Lovely tint – I have been using Herbatint for over 30 years and absolutely love their product I wouldn't go with any other company as these are very natural and non damaging to my hair. Show details
DON'T USE HERBATINT!!! – I used Herbatint 6N, dark blonde. It came out very dark, but that's not the worst thing it did. My hair is horribly damaged and dry now, and it keeps breaking and falling out. My formerly lush natural curls are limp and there is no body left in my hair. What's left of the weak hair strands stick out in all directions, are so thin, and break off… Read more
more every day. I have tried oil treatments several times, but the horrible condition persists. Not pretty at all. Now I need a wig while I wait for my hair to grow out! Don't be fooled, the PPD in Herbatint is far from safe--it is harder on your hair than ammonia. Wish I had checked all the ingredients before I used it. Save your hair, avoid Herbatint!
Horrible – I wanted to turned hair blonder. But instead it turned it red. I have had to keep die 8n my hair for 2 hours to fix. This is the worst brand. Also my hair is as dry as a dessert Show details
Mixed feelings re. this product – The good thing is it is so much more gentler on my scalp. I can no longer tolerate salon dyes as they burn my scalp in areas. When I got the hairdresser to apply it the colour came out absolutely beautiful, and made me look younger. The downside is because I have greys near my temple areas, either the dye fades or washes out when my hair is… Read more
shampooed or my hair is growing fast, but I would imagine if my hair was growing too fast, I would be grey all the way around. I did contact the Herbal Tint helpline and they told me which 2 colours to mix to get a good result and overall when I did this, it looks great initially, it just seems to wash out a bit.
I intend to dye my own hair next time. Wish me luck. I tend to put it off because I don't feel confident doing a good job myself and I love just sitting their and not worrying too much when a hairdresser does my hair. I just hope I don't overlap the colour too much on my already dyed hair. My hair despite being fine is in very good condition a hairdressing teacher told me, but I look after my hair, so I doubt I am going to have problems with it drying out too much. Note I also use a good treatment and not the Herbal tint shampoo.
Also I didn't find that I had to use much around my hairline at all. When I took it to the hairdresser they used both boxes completely and used it all up when they didn't need too, so have to admit I was a bit annoyed.
Just read someone else's review and they complained that they had an allergic reaction, you are meant to do a small patch test first, before covering your whole scalp.
Be very aware this product contains PPD a known allergen – A nightmare misleading product. Take no notice of their claim to be “dermatologically tested” I certainly wish I had. I found out after I used it that it contains an ingredient known to cause contact dermatitis. I now have a very expensive and painfully itchy rash with red welts, all over my scalp forehead ears and neck. Had to cancel a book… Read more
launch. Am seeing specialists and trying every product known to man to counter it. It also left my hair very dry and flyaway and although the notion to contain 2 applications is admirable it is very messy and difficult to measure and apply to regrowth… it has NO applicator. I now know there are others dyes available that don’t have PPD.
Herbatint is Brilliant – Brilliant, I have breathing problems and could never dye my hair, this has no smell at all I'm so happy with the product covered all grays I would use it again for sure perfect A+ Show details
Very good brand – I read many reviews. As always plenty of good then disastrous ones. I have medium blonde hair dry and grey roots regrowth. Lady at shop said go a bit lighter, she used the brand for yrs and definitely didn't destroy her hair ! I only do my regrowth. The reviews had put me off...after all your hair is your hair! I mixed a small amount of… Read more
platinum BLONDE 10N and most light BLONDE 8N. No stinky smell And very, very minor irritation to scalp. Nothing like the good salon brand I've used for yrs and which irritates my scalp even after it's done. My colour has come out great and grey coloured. A much better result. I never leave dye on the whole hair as it is always drying and not necessary. This is an honest review and my scalp is feeling so nice. First time for years. I'll never use salon stuff again and very relieved at beautiful colour.
My hair turned ginger – I used the dark blonde to cover some grey hairs. After two weeks my hair turned into a light ginger. The product has a weird texture which leaves the hair a bit stiff at first, I had to give it two washes and then apply the conditioner. Not a great cover either, although they say that to cover grey hair you should use a darker tone, so fair enough on that.
Terrible – Made my hair dry and brittle. Constantly tangled. I emailed company and get 0 response. This hair dye is not gentle at all. It damages hair. I have tons of breakage. Frizzy ugly hair not worth it at all. I can't even comb it. Show details
Colours well but leaves hair dry – I’ve used the Violet shade which turns out more maroon as time goes by (I have dark brown hair originally). Easy to mix and use. Hair is very dry after dyeing but I will continue to use as I can condition/treat my hair with other products. Show details
Worst hair color ever! – I can't believe how this turned out. I am a natural blonde, took the color test online and ordered the kit. Now instead of having a lighter blonde I have red hair. I simply can not believe what happened today. I spoke to a professional and it's going to cost me around 200 dollar to fix it plus she said it will be really bad for my hair to bleach it again. Beyond disappointed. Don't do it! Show details
The tools are not satisfactory. Gloves are too short, no easy applications. Would not use again! Show details
