Rubbish don’t buy – Rubbish gotta empty bucket every 3 hours from drain pipe window hose is rubbish blows hot air back inside noisy as big bulky ugly machine Show details
Works well in the heat in a bedroom – I bought one while I was in WA in soaring temperatures. The Highlander did struggle at first with the heat [44 degrees] but I found if you put in the bedroom an hour before and make sure it is flat on the floor and that the hose is higher than the unit [to go out to the window] I didn't have problems with the water leaking at all. It seems noisy… Read more
at first but in the heat I was in I soon got used to it & had a brilliants night sleep and was so cool all night as the temperature goes down to 16 degrees and being reverse cycle I had it on 30 degrees that winter & it was great. I think its good if you are renting somewhere & cannot get a box window type air conditioner.Their customer service number for problems or parts is 0295222283 Cheap to run, goes down to 16 degrees on cooling A bit noisy
Rubbish! – Don't buy this product! It will give you nothing but headache! Mine broke down after 2 months. Had to replace the compressor. Since my fiancé shipped this overseas there's no way we can use of the warranty. The aircon always display EO even if I've drained the water already and even if I placed a long hose to. My dad's comment is that this is a total waste of money. Never getting a highlander unit ever again! Show details
Barely worth it – It'll cool a small room, but nowhere near the volume it claims. If the vent hose even has to go up to waist level, plan on insulating it because the heat from that hose just about cancels 25% of the cooling effort. Draining the water pan is inconvenient (an understatement to be sure). At least it stops cooling when it's full and doesn't… Read more
overflow.
If you have a few power tools, and know which end of the screwdriver is the business end, you can probably resolve most of its drawbacks by building a stand with a larger water bucket... Most... with the exception of its pathetic cooling capability.
It's bulky, difficult to move, poor cooling, difficult to drain
Bad – Well, it does cool. (somewhat). I have had this unit for a couple of weeks now. In search of better performance, I have elevated it and carefully sealed the exhaust duct to the machine and my room exhaust hole.. sadly with little improvement. Some performance MAY be gained by [foil] insulating the exhaust duct, but i suspect not.. Its cool… Read more
if you stand right in front of it. (but then, so is a fan...)
So, This unit MAY work adequately in a SMALL room.
A decent portable aircon costs around $800+ though, so... save up.
(Or get a fan. Theyre cheaper to run, quieter, and cool almost as well as THIS aircon.) Quite Cheap.
Does cool (somewhat). 1. The cooling performance is meagre. Feeling the output stream from the square output hole, it appears only a small corner of it is actually cold, the majority of output being uncooled. This was confirmed with a IR laser thermometer. On a 27 degree day, it was not able to get the room temp _anywhere near_ 21 degrees. At best, it was able to drop the temp in the [large: 20m2] room by 2-3 degrees, after several hours of noisey running time. Better than nothing, but not by much, given that:
2. It is VERY loud. SO loud that you'll have to turn up the TV so much you'll fear disturbing those around you. SO loud, you'll ask yourself if you really are that hot after all.
3. As mentioned by another review, The drainage tube is positioned only a few mm from the bottom of the unit. This means that, in effect, this machine needs to be put on a stand of some sort to facilitate draining into a sufficiently large vessel, and/or have the drainage tube pass through a hole drilled in the floor (not so portable).
My first air con – The exhaust slot broke ...too flimsy ..the horizontal luvres broke....i put it on a stand with a few dvd rec's and a tv on top,,, and screwed a hose and clamp on drainage hole so as it drains into a bucket by itself ...but i have to keep an eye on the bucket as it fills quickly ,,,it is noisy but i can hack it ...as it does the job of cooling me… Read more
down...a reverse cycle is the only way to go but the price of installation is way over the top for me ....but i'm going to win tattslotto soon ...........keep cooooool folks/////// Cheap enough Poor design
Terrible – please do not buy this awful machine as it will just occupy large area but most in efficient functionility. Completely waste of money and time as you have to work very hard to maintain this and enjoy cooling. Nothing to like about this product as completely waste of money Much noise, less cooling, water tank full just within three hours. Very hard to empty the water tank as you have to lift the 40 kg aircon to drain the water.
Highland 1.5HP – It does cool an average sized room better than a fan but the other reviewers are correct: the drainage hole is poorly positioned, it is very noisy (I had to increase my TV volume from 9 to 14) and the hinge connecting the exhaust to the window kit is very flimsy. One side of my hinge broke. My best advice is to pay the extra for a well-known, less noisy, brand. Inexpensive Flimsy attachment broke on first day.
OK – If you are desperate for cooling due to high temps them you'll put up with anything. Would i buy it again knowing how loud it is? prob not. If you want a decent portable air con unit that is low on sound, then pay the extra money. If sound is not an issue, then this unit will work for you. Cooled smallish room adequately (12sqm) Very very noisey!
Terrible – Unfortunately my system arrived damaged and leaked over the floor and smelt out the carpets and floor boards. Too top it off the customer service was disgraceful and returned item for a refund! Very disappointing experience and wouldn't buy anything from rude people anyway! This item is not cheap and quite expensive so you expect more from the… Read more
system and particularly the company as it isn't some toy from the $2 shop! You can do a lot better as their are many systems available out their.
Well unfortunately the leaking over my floor and the customer or lack of customer service from business!
OK – as advertised but watch out for the e0 error which comes up when the internal drain tank is full. Would not buy if i was sure which of the others were self draining eg evaporated water and expelled outside sends a lot of heat out the window drainage is needed and makes a lot of water, litres, and the drain tray is way too small eg about 80 milli litres
Terrible – A complete waste of money! The unit simply doesn't have enough cooling effect to warrant the electricity it uses. The frustration of having to wait for the refrigeration to switch back on negates the value. The unit keeps switching between refrigeration and just blowing room temperature air (about 10 minutes of each). Ultimately, it doesn't stay on cold long enough to have any effect on our bedroom and I no longer even bother turning it on.
